GTKY: My cat, Snoop, is attached to me at the hip. As as we speak, he's snuggled against my thigh. He is also ALWAYS right there when I'm upset. If I start crying, he's on my lap within seconds. And he's right by my side until I've calmed down or feeling better. I'm 100% positive that the darkest months following my loss were made a little brighter because of my fur babies.
Cats are supposed to be aloof, apparently, but Snoop is just as responsive to emotions as any dog.
My new puppy Barney!! A black Lab/Jack Russell Terrier mix. He has been a godsend helping with my post-loss anxiety. He loved on me constantly. I didn't realize how fast you could love a pooch!!
This is my kitty Harley he will be 6 at the end of July. I got him from the city pound when he was 12 weeks old. He was very sick but luckily he got better and has been perfect ever since. Pugs (from left to right) Louie, who will be 5 in Sept. I got him from a pet store (I know, I know he's a puppy mill dog most likely) when he was 4.5 months old. He was on clearance because no one wanted an "older" dog. They want those 8-12 week old pups. He looked so sad in the cage, no one would even give him a second look. I loved him the moment my eyes meet his. Then there's Diesel who we think is 6-7ish. He was a rescue and the shelter didn't have much background on him. He sneezes in my face almost every day, snores like a lion, and wheezes a lot but I have grown to love all this weird loud noises.
They are all crazy and needy as can be, but I love it and couldn't picture my life without any of them. They always have to be touching me or have me in sight.
Yay companion animals! We have two cats, Schroeder and Lucy. Schroeder was adopted by DH when he was 19 and thinks that's his mom because he was a little too young and on the streets of Toronto alone. Lucy came to us in Montreal a few weeks after we moved in together. She cried at the back door of our third floor apartment the whole night. I took one look at her face and she was ours (not that you could have gotten that lazy lump to leave once she came in).
Schroeder likes to ham it up for the camera.
Lucy is gorgeous in person, but black cats don't photograph well except under very specific lighting conditions.
They 100% favour my husband.
GTKY: When I was having the miscarriage, Schroeder came to lie across my lower belly the moment I took the pills and would not leave or move until the pain had stopped. If I shifted, he shifted to cover my uterus again. He knew and he took care of me. He also saw DH through the worst of his depression and suicidal thoughts before we met.
Honestly, they're both total love bugs. All snuggles and slow blinks and emotional awareness. I'm totally a dog person, but I love cats, too and these ones happen to love me back. They're needy and that's just fine. It's family.

This is my cat Reggie- He is 7 years old and I adopted him from a animal rescue when he was 8 weeks old. He likes to snuggle with me on the couch We think he is some kind of maine coon/tabby mix and is a polydactyl. Fluffy with extra toes to love!
@renneannemm My cat loves my DH more too even though I had him before we met- I think its because he bribes him by giving him turkey breast when he makes his lunch in the morning!!
@Spartanrd4 It's not fair! He smothers them! I'm the chill one but they always snuggle with him first. I guess it's because I'm always home with them and he's a limited time engagement suffocating them with his love.

@reneeannemm I had my D&C, and the next day my DH had his gallbladder removed. Our cats took turns -attempting- to lie on our stomachs, like 24/7. (And they're big boys, so they can cover a lot of surface area.) Needless to say, neither of us wanted an 11-pound cat on that area..... but we found it sweet all the same.
@chloe97 For the 42nd time, your puppy is adorable! And you're right. He seems much more like a Barney than an Ernie.
@crazypt2285 Even though you got a pup from the puppy mill, I think you still did the right thing. You were supporting him, not the mill. This was especially important because if he hadn't sold, they probably would have taken him somewhere worse. So you absolutely did the right thing by adopting him!!
This is my baby Wyatt the day we adopted him and back when I was all "I hate dog hair, he has to go in the way back with a sheet over the seat to keep the car clean".
Fast forward one year... ...this is him snuggling in bed with mama, hogging all the pillows and getting his little dog hairs absolutely everywhere. And I don't care at all!
We rescued him about 2 weeks after our MC and I truly think he gave me a reason, maybe the only reason, to function. I had to walk him, cook his meals (crazy but I like doing it), Bake his treats, buy him clothes and accessories (he has a bow tie and a regular tie). Now he doesn't leave my side and DH gets a little jelly that I get most of the snuggles.
I LOVE this thread! I have about 178487362 pictures I could post! And I love looking at your little babies! DH is anti-cats but I always had them growing up and now that I see all yours I remember how nice they are to have around

I thought we were making a mistake getting a dog while we were so deep in mourning 2 weeks after my D&C, but I can't believe how much better I'm doing with my day to day life now that we have him. He seems to have cured my intense hypochondria and given my brain something new to occupy it's time rather than obsessing about how everyone's pregnant but me.He's such a sweet bundle of joy.
@dubcompanion Yes you remembered!! We changed his name when we got him. He just was so much more a Barney than an Ernie. So much easier to say too!
Thank you for starting @dubcompanion! My doctor appointment ran over and now I am packing to go up north. I'll post mine shortly. Loving all these sweet fury faces!!
@dubcompanion Oh he knows he is beautiful too! He uses it to his advantage because he is the biggest brat ever but everyone always paws all over him and tells him how cute he is. He's a cat that you want to hug and slap at the same time but I love him so much
@chloe97 I adopted my cats a month after my grandma passed away. I was very close to her. At first, I thought my cats were a mistake too, but they ended up being wonderful companions. I lived on my own, and the nights my future DH wasn't there were when I swore I heard footsteps, burglars, ghosts, etc. When I adopted my fur babies, I was no longer paranoid. The thump wasn't an intruder; it was a cat jumping around. The creak wasn't a monster; it was a cat trying to squeeze into a small space. Pets keep us in reality and our hearts in the right place!
@SoonToBeMommaHowe Since it's a hit, I think I'll do this every Friday, so everyone has the opportunity to post as many of their 178487362 pics of their loves as possible! We also tend to have new posters throughout the week, so we can hopefully get to see new fluffy faces as well!
@Spartanrd4 He's a cat that you want to hug and slap at the same time but I love him so much That's my Bootsie. He's a sweet cat and so lovable but such a PITA too. He knows he's not supposed to get on the kitchen counter, but every so often, I hear that thump and then a guilty little meow, and I think, "Are you [EXPLETIVE] kidding me..."
GTKY: Izzie likes to snuggle both of us. I think she generally prefers DH to me (brat), especially because I had her before I met him. She was just a baby though and has pretty much known him her whole life. She also sleeps/sneaks to the tops of our pillows at night and lays up there. Her companionship must be the golden retriever in her.
As far as our bunnies go, they will lick our faces. That is about the extent of the emotion we get. Or a thump if they're mad at want more food/treats. They are a lot of work, but we love them. I didn't grow up with bunnies, DH saw me pin one on Pinterest and thought it would be a great Christmas present. Don't pin things you don't actually want, haha. But now they are part of our little family!
@Taggarab That Doom game in the background makes the hairy eyeball even more legit!
@Aera11 *squeeeeeeee* I was going to adopt two lop bunnies the day I adopted my cats! Ended up getting kitties because I wasn't sure about my HOA pet policies. Still, I love bunnies.
@dubcompanion Reggie's favorite activities are knocking glasses of water off the table and chewing the plastic pull ties off the garbage bag in the kitchen- basically chews on anything plastic: straws, tape, ribbon, plastic bags. He has an animal version of pica!
Top black one is Layla who we adopted last year at 11 years young. Bottom is Cody who is 11 now. Both are what we call our "old pups" and are pretty docile...unless there's a leaf blowing outside. Then all hell breaks loose.
They definitely were a nice distraction after the miscarriage when I was home from work- kept me company and gave me something to put my time into (not that I don't usually!).
@Taggarab I've been watching my DH play Uncharted 4 (LOVE the storylines in this series; how do they do it?!), and it has an old school Crash Bandicoot level in-game! I stole the controller and played it. Ahhhh, nostalgia!
@dubcompanion I think making this a weekly thread is a spectacular idea! I forgot to add the GTKY. Both of our dogs are very affectionate and like to give lots of kisses. Edited to add that I LOVE seeing all these adorable pets!
This is my fur baby Marlee. She's a 4 year old German Shepherd.
GTKY: She's constantly by my side when I'm at home, I can't even pee in peace! She is very loving and will give anyone as much kisses as possible, but, she is also protective when need be. One night DH and I were at a bonfire with friends when we heard a pack of coyotes in the distance. The other dogs rand towards the sound but Marlee stayed behind and would walk around the fire and physically touch everybody to make sure they were safe, then would sit and stare in the direction of the coyotes. Another time, a friend thought it would be such a great idea to pretend to be a bear and try to scare me, at night in the dark. Marlee just saw a hunched figure stalking towards me and so she flew through the air and was ready to rip him a new one. She realized mid jump who it was and only smothered him in kisses but he said it was the scariest thing he's ever experienced. This was so surprising because she's actually so gentle and loving. She knows when I'm upset and will come and lay right on top of me if I'm crying, it's the sweetest.
Mobile bumping so it is hard to answer all your posts but I will try to some time this weekend! But since Friday technically ends in two hours on the east coast I want to share my fur babies!
This is Zoey! She is super loveable and super smart! She is part Pomeranian and part Australian Shepherd! Lots and lots of energy and always wants all the attention! We have had her since she was three months old and she is about four now, our first dog together.
And this cutie is Rocky. He is a rescue and was a stray. He is a little nervous around new people and takes a while to warm up but has quickly become part of our family! He is an absolute cuddle bug and wants nothing more than to sit next to you. We have had him a little ove a year and a half.

It was awesome to open this on a Monday morning and see all the fur-babies!
Above are 4 of my 6 new chickens. They are adorable girls and I enjoy them already.
Below is my rough collie, Starlord. He's really helped me through some rough times the past few months and I love him so much!
GTKY: What's a sweet thing that your pet does to show he/she loves you? Starlord will lick my hand gently with mournful eyes when I look too sad. It’s super cute and makes me smile.
@chloe97 Glad the puppy is helping you out! Our puppy definitely helped me, and still helps me so much!

@dpjennifer I tried to talk my DH into getting a chicken coop this summer. He said no. I shall live vicariously through you! Also, Starlord is an awesome name.
@dubcompanion Thank you, thank you! And I am loving the chickens so far. DH was not really in favor of it, but I pretty much said I'm getting chickens and that was that. He is slowly acquiescing to country living, and it is my goal for him to wake up in 5-10 years, look out the window, and say "When did we start living on a farmette."
