Hey everyone

First post here so I might as well do a little intro. My name is Melissa I'm 26 and am 16wks 3 days pregnant with my first baby. I'm married and we have sole custody of his 2 daughters ages almost 14 and 12.
So far, I have had 3 appointments; my first ultrasound at 10 weeks, my first prenatal appointment at 12 weeks, and my 2nd prenatal was today. I have been seeing a midwife nurse because the OB's in my small town are all booked up. So everything goes great hearing the heartbeat etc and she tells me I can download the app MyChart and view all of my stuff. I get home and do that and I see in the details of my first and only ultrasound that I have follicular cysts in both ovaries. I know these are not the dangerous ones that are serious or what ever but I find it odd and a bit alarming that it wasn't brought to my attention. I go on looking at the details of my pap smear that took place during my 1st Prenatal Appointment and I see something that says "shift in flora morphologically suggestive of bacterial vaginosis." And that was also not brought to my attention but I did get something in the mail saying my pap smear was normal. So I'm not sure what to think? Are these things not being mentioned because it's not a big deal ? Or do I have legitimate reason to wonder what's up?
Re: Not being told everything?
Follicular cysts are a very common finding and will not affect your pregnancy (unless they are extremely large or complex in which case I'm sure they'd have brought it up.) Most women will have follicular cysts at some point. There is really no point in mentioning them at all unless you had signs of an associated problem like PCOS or something, but an imaging report will always note any structures like that just as a matter of course.
BV, or some associated changes, is ridiculously common in pregnancy (around 1/3 of pregnant women will have it at some point, most will not have symptoms) and it's pointless to treat if asymptomatic. That aside, some shift in flora on a swab from a Pap is not diagnostic of BV; it's considered an extremely poor test for BV. In the absence of symptoms, that little note from your Pap swab is most likely clinically insignificant which is probably why it wasn't brought up. Slightly atypical stuff that doesn't actually mean anything pops up all the time.
But it definitely talk to your provider. I'm not a doctor, so can't provide medical advice.

I am sorry you feel like they aren't sharing the information with you. That is frustrating. Many doctors simply forget what is routine to them is worrisome to us lay people!
I was told I have a small cyst on my ovary at my 12 week scan (got an extra one because Dr. couldn't find the baby with the Doppler) and when I had another scan at Maternal Fetal they didn't mention it. I don't know if it is because it is gone or that because it is a non-issue for my pregnancy.
But I second the suggestion to make a call to the nurse to discuss your concerns. You are your best advocate and it is understandable to want to know what is happening with your body!
