Re: Rude Comments

  • I hate when people say morning sickness is a sign of a healthy pregnancy. It's like saying rain on your wedding day is good luck. To me it's just one of those things people say to make you feel better about how miserable you're feeling. My mom had no morning sickness with me and I was a healthy baby. My cousin the same, her son was healthy.

I never got the belly line with my first pregnancy. She's a girl @R0824H

  • Not so much a "rude" comment, more of one that makes me feel bad.
DH keeps mentioning how much weight he has gained this last year (which is like nothing, and he still looks great) and it makes me feel like I must be huge since I've gained about 10 pounds already.
I think he is trying to make me feel better by saying we are both growing, but it doesn't since he looks the same as before.
  • 4th pregnancy here and I've never had the line
  • "Fake parenting". Boo! They either must not have kids or had a very easy first child! Parenting my first child was far and above harder than parenting any of my subsequent children! What a prideful and short sided comment.

So last night I got verbally assaulted by a random guy. I was headed to Sonic to get a cherry slush, and he was on a motorcycle beside and behind me. I noticed he was driving weird (gunning it to get around me, driving in my blind spot and then right next to me). So I passed him. Apparently he didn't like that and followed me into the Sonic and proceeded to tell me what a shitty driver I am and that I'm fat. It was very upsetting. WTF is wrong with people? I was watching him and trying to keep my distance, because I always try to watch for bikers, but he wanted to drive in my blind spot and right next to me, so I passed him.

This is Texas so he probably had a gun, so I didn't say all I wanted to say but I did call the police. In my world, some strange dude coming up to my car and verbally assaulting me is threatening behavior.

Today I've made it my goal to be unexpectedly to for as many people as I can to counteract all the shitheads in the world. :)

  • @cjt121413 Omg that is frightening!! I'm glad you are ok. People are crazy and it's sad we have to be afraid of speaking our minds for fear of being shot. I also don't understand road rage. Where are these people going that is so much more important than everyone else? Bleh.
  • I posted this as my ticker change rant but it's most appropriate home is here.

Upon announcing that we are having a beautiful, healthy, little boy, someone today quipped that it didn't matter now what the gender was...that the LO would decide in life what it wanted to be anyway. I WAS NOT amused and thought that to be an incredibly inappropriate and insensitive comment to make. Seriously? WTF?!

No matter how you feel about that topic that's super rude to taint your moment with their negative rhetoric! Classy.

  • @swhiddon33 That's seriously so rude of them. Like yeah, it's possible that could happen, but it's seriously extremely rare, and it's insensitive to insinuate things like that.

I'm excited to find out baby's gender because that will allow us to start calling baby by his or her name and I feel like it makes it so much more personal and real, at least for us. It has nothing to do with gender roles. Don't let anyone steal your joy, mama.

Congrats on your baby boy!! And like, yeah, your LO may decide later that his assigned gender is wrong for him, but that's a super weird comment to make while you're still pregnant or when he's a baby! Geez, can't we just be happy for each other?
  • @swhiddon33 - I agree - that's the weirdest thing to say at that time. And yea, your boy is going to grow up to be his own person. And there is a minuscule percentage of the population that, as they grow up, realize they don't feel that their body reflects who they feel like they are inside. And I am sure none of those people would say being in a body they can't completely identify with is something they would wish on another.
That's like saying "hey, yea your child has a penis, but he may not feel like that's the genitalia he should have been born with" ... REALLY weird thing to preemptively throw at an unborn child...

  • I probably just left a rude comment on the 12w7d feeling taps thread. I'm in a grouchy, get your damn facts straight and learn to count type of mood.

Also, just want to point out that everyone says gender, but it is actually sex. You know what type of genitalia your LO has. Not excusing, by any means, the comment made about gender identities but if you use the correct terms you can probably cut out a great deal of that type of comment.
