November 2016 Moms

Who else has not felt any kicks?

I'm almost 18 weeks and I told my doctor today that I have not felt the baby move. His response: "yes you have."

OK - THANKS! SUPER HELPFUL DOC.

I'm a 2nd time mom with an anterior placenta and I 100% have not felt the baby move ONCE. If I didn't have a doppler, I would have been thinking the worse for a couple of weeks now.

Anyone else?

Re: Who else has not felt any kicks?

  • I'm 19 weeks and I *think* I might have felt my first flutter this weekend.  But it was only once and I haven't felt anything since.  My OB was surprised when I said I didn't feel anything at my last checkup, but I also have a friend that didn't feel anything until about 22 or 24 weeks with both her kids.

  • I also haven't really felt any kicks ... sometimes I think maybe I feel a little something (???), but not much. I had an ultrasound last week and was told I have an anterior placenta, which would make it harder for me to feel kicks because the placenta is acting like a barrier between the baby and me.  I've now done a lot of research on having an anterior placenta and it sounds like it will just take longer to feel them (20+ weeks) because the placenta is in the way. It stinks. I don't have a doppler so I just have to trust everything is ok :/
  • I mentioned the same thing to my OB so she pulled out the US machine and we watched until the baby kicked and I was like "yea I didn't feel that"... In a STM.

She he said she has 3 kids and didn't feel a thing until 24 weeks. I would worry too much and when you do worry pull out the Doppler!
  • I've felt what *I think* was the baby like 2 or 3 times, but who knows. I question every bubble and bump in my belly now, but usually, I'm like, "yep, just gas."  I"ve been wishing I had a doppler the past week or so, but will just have to wait til my appointment on Friday to make sure everything is okay in there!

  • I was in the exact same boat. 18+2 today STM. Asked my doc at my apt yesterday and he also gave me the "you are feeling kicks, you just don't realize it" answer. He said at this point anything below the belly button is baby, above is gas.
  • I'm 16+3 and I always blame whatever I feel on gas, even though I'm probably wrong. Im very overweight so I'm betting it'll be a while. :(
  • 18+3 today (STM) and I think I've felt a few flutters here are there, but no large kicks/movement yet. I know baby is doing fine because at my doctor appointment last Thursday LO had a good heartbeat and the doctor found it really fast. I can't wait to start feeling some definite kicks and this has been bugging me too. Glad to hear others are in the same boat.

This makes me feel so much better- I think maybe i've felt a flutter or two, but can't be sure. I'm 17w/2d FTM

20+2 and I haven't felt it either! What I have felt is a growing belly ... my waist seems to double overnight every few weeks.

I am 18 weeks, I thought that I felt few flutters last week but now I am not sure at all. I havenot felt anything afterwards. My doctor said it is normal not to feel anything until 20weeks, and most of my friends said they started to feel at around 20 weeks so I am not too worried.
  • Im 18+3 and have felt a lot less this time around than last time. I think i felt my dd at 16 weeks and it was more of a fishy flutter feeling. This time every few days i feel a pop and its almost like did that happen? it would be so easy to miss it. Soon we will all be complaining about the kicks to the ribs, the head pushing on our hip bone. :) cant wait!

Stm at 16 weeks and nothing yet. I had an anterior placenta with my first and didn't feel anything until 20 weeks, I have an anterior placenta again so I'm expecting not to feel the baby for a while
  • I am 19 weeks I've felt baby A a little bit, not consistently. ..but as far as I can tell, nothing from Baby B. I'm having ultrasounds every 2 weeks though,  so I know they are good in there.
  • Um, rude. I wouldn't really want to keep going to an doctor that doesn't listen to what I say, and it's still pretty early so it's hardly unheard of for you to have not felt anything yet.

I haven't (I don't think, maybe a couple suspicious gurgly feelings), but then I'm only 16 weeks. It seems like you shouldn't really expect much until 20 or so and it could be even later than that.

I'm so thankful for this post! I'm 18+2, third time mom & I still am not quite sure I've felt any kicks. It's really stressing me out. I've dopplered and can locate the heartbeat it just sounds faint
  • kcolvkcolv member
My phone always does that to me....deletes part of my post! Anyways, it's faint but I go for My anatomy scan in a week & two days (who's counting) im hopin for a good lookin baby in there
  • I'm a FTM and 18 w 4 d and haven't felt anything for sure yet either (I may have felt one stomach flip on Sunday but now thinking it was my imagination). At my a/s today, my midwife said I should feel something between 20 and 22 weeks and not to worry. Baby was definitely fine and moving up a storm during the scan, so everything is fine, I just can't feel it yet.

  • I'm almost 19 weeks (tomorrow) and haven't felt anything. I thought I felt something at like 15 weeks, but nothing since, so I don't think that was anything. When I start to wonder, I just keep telling myself, I'm a FTM and I've got another month before I feel anything. We have a ultrasound on Friday and I know when my husband sees how much the baby is moving he's going to be shocked I can't feel anything, again. (He even asked after our doppler last week).

I feel a TINY bit of movement here and there, it was just confirmed yesterday that I do have an anterior placenta. Baby was moving all around on the anatomy scan so that made me feel better.  I hope I start feeling more soon!

  • I know it's no problem that there's been no obvious movement just yet, though it would be nice to have the confirmation.

It stinks when people excitedly ask "have you felt him yet?!" Expecting me to excitedly respond with details about all the movement I've been experiencing. Instead, they get an awkward "no, not yet" or "I don't know".
  • I'm 17w1d and though there may have been a slight flutter the other night, I haven't really felt anything. Seems to me it's much more common than we're led to believe...

    @2amgoodbyes YES - so awkward!
  • This is baby #4. I felt #3 at 12 weeks so I was SO readdy to feel this baby early. Nothing. I'm 17 weeks and TODAY got diagnosed with Anterior Placenta. Bummer City. I need that lil bonding time. PS: 3 boys THIS IS A GIRL!

I'm a STM and I definitely haven't felt any kicks at 18w4d but I have felt rolling.  I didn't feel DD1 until around 21 weeks.  But I absolutely think I felt her before that, i just chalked it up to gas or stomach issues. It wasn't until it was an undeniable kick that I KNEW it was her.

  • Yay for this post I thought I was the only stm not feeling her yet. I've had an anterior placenta for both pregnancies. I didn't feel ds until around 20 wks. I'm currently 18+ 2 and have had very little movement and definitely not consistent. I'm so ready to feel her little feet and hands!

I'm a second time mom. First time placenta was not anterior and I felt baby the first time at 18 weeks and it grew stronger and stronger each week. This time being a second timer I expected to feel things sooner. However I have an anterior placenta this time. I started to feel movements at 18 weeks but much more faint and less frequent than last time. Most days I feel nothing - usually only feel stuff in bed at night if I roll onto my tummy. Apparently this is all common if your placenta is anterior but it is frustrating not being able to feel much! If ultrasound has gone well I wouldn't worry :)

    I should mention I'm 20+5 now!
