Re: Weekly Appointments 6/13 - 6/19
How did your appointment go overall? Very frustrated. We went for A/S 5 weeks ago. We go back on Thursday for a follow-up ultrasound. We *thought* it was because the baby as curled up so they couldn't see the bottom of his spine. Well I went today to my monthly dr appt and he makes an off-hand comment about rechecking the umbilical cord. UM WHAT. No one told me anything about this when they called to schedule the follow-up, even when I specifically asked about the final report which they were supposed to give us. Anyway, the dr explained that the cord is attached at the edge of the placenta by the wall, instead of in the center. He said there's no real evidence that this alone will cause any problems but they want to recheck it to make sure there's nothing else going on as well. Apparently if, in addition to the marginal placement, part of the vessels were "naked" and not protected by the outer layer, it would make the cord vulnerable to impact (and thus affect the nutrients/oxygen getting to baby). He said that's not what we have, so he's expecting everything to come back fine on Thursday but they want to make sure he's still growing well and get some more images of the cord.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler, baby was kicking away haha heartbeat was 140.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yes, I really like all of the doctors in the practice that I've met so far.
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? DH and I were out shopping one day and were walking to the car to drive an hour to meet our friends for dinner. Well I was starving and DH saw a Cracker Barrel across the street. Cracker Barrel is MY FAVORITE and there isn't one close to us so we rarely go. Well as soon as he pointed it out to me I actually started to tear up because I was so hungry and I wanted it so bad
How far along are you? 21 weeks 5 days
How did your appointment go overall? Good!
Any ultrasound or doppler? US HB was 154
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yes. She had reassured us baby is not showing signs of any birth defects pertaining to my SO and my amniotic fluid is no longer low! Baby is a GIRL and is weighing in at 15oz right now and has long legs! Baby girl is stubborn and likes to cover her face but we got all the measurements we needed this time around. She is very active at todays US which made me very happy; however, she was kicking me in the bladder I could feel it and sure enough when the tech looked we saw her kicking me.

Any ultrasound or doppler? Ultrasound
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? she answered all our questions. We found out its a baby boyboy. But also that he has built up fluid in his tunes between his kidneys and bladder, meaning his bladder isn't working 100% so we have to go see a specialist.
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? Forgetting we had already budgeted money to go strawberry pickingpickin. I was so upset thinking we couldn't go but then my husband was like we have the money. I felt so silly cuz I do the budget
How did your appointment go overall? Wonderful. I ended up with my favorite doctor because the one I was scheduled with was behind. Aka I didn't have to deal with the weight discussion. But I had only gained 4 pounds even with the vacation, so I chalk that up as a win.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Doppler. HR was 140 and he was moving all over the place!
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? She reassured me that the GD test isn't that bad! Haha I have such an irrational fear of it.
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? I don't know if any of it's really that crazy, but the baby feet during our anatomy scan for sure. And I also learned that weddings and pregnancy hormones do not mix! I could have bawled the whole ceremony.

How did your appointment go overall? My cervical length check and ultrasound to check on our son went well. Now, the evening before I started cramping horribly for a few hours at work, stood up from my desk and fluid came running down my legs. I ran to the restroom, and the fluid appeared to me clearish-whitish. It had a weird odor. It was not urine. I called my doctor then, he asked me to come be checked at the hospital. They ran the FFN and the Amnisure along with other tests. Everything came back negative, except I have a yeast infection. I was told yeast infections can make crampy/contracting feelings and cause the extra discharge. I can't help but panic when it was a similar occurence to when we lost our daughter. Just had to be sure.
Any ultrasound or doppler? Yes, both.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yes, and then some.
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? Less than a month ago, we attended a wedding. During the reception, the dancing made me so upset. DH and I had a very cheap wedding with no reception, because we didn't want one. This wedding/reception was the first one we attended since getting married and basically, I just went into tears. We had to leave! I was so upset/pissed off that we didn't have our own reception. Then once I calmed down, I realized I am so happy we didn't spend all of the money. I'm sure by the end of the night my DH was perplexed to say the least.
How did your appointment go overall? Good! Didn't have to wait a long time for the tech and baby was moving all around. Baby is currently breech and didn't want to give the tech a view of the four heart chambers again, but luckily he did briefly for the MFM.
Any ultrasound or doppler? ultrasound.
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yep. Baby is looking good so I go in again in four weeks.
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? That picture of the fish in the jellyfish. I wish the photographer had gotten it out. Yes, it's a once in a lifetime picture, but that means the fish deserves a chance to escape!
Any ultrasound or doppler? Ultrasound
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yep, basically about signs of pre-e and ultrasound/MFM appt timeline. And I learned the baby's estimated weight and %ile
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? I have a daily pregnancy hormone cry but also pregnancy brain so just, one I can actually remember is...Burger King forgot to put the chicken on the salad I'd been craving that was one of the few things I could eat despite MS. I didn't realize until I got home...we live like 2 minutes away so I went back, but not before a good cry
How did your appointment go overall? Great!
Any ultrasound or doppler? Ultrasound
Did your doctor or midwife answer any questions or concerns you had? Yep. We asked about her thoughts on hiring a lactation consultant. She told us one wasn't needed as the hospital provides one. We also asked about pediatricians and she gave us a few recommendations - just have to see which ones our insurance covers.
For Fun: Our preggo hormones are raging, and everything down to commercials can trigger the tears! What's the craziest thing that's made you start crying? Nothing Else Matters by Metallica makes me tear up so easily!!
