Cravings & not so much cravings...

Food cravings! & then, the opposite.

Anyone getting nauseous just at the thought of certain foods?

The last few days, I have felt nauseous at the thought of CHIPS.

I thought it would be interesting to see if others were experiencing the same thing.

This is is my first pregnancy & I haven't told any of my family.

Re: Cravings & not so much cravings...

  • I have no food cravings or aversions yet. With my last pregnancy, it all started around week 8-9 and didn't let up until week 18 I think. It was frustrating because my C&A changed every few days.

Crossing my fingers I feel better this time around.

    Fingers crossed for you!!

I am 6 weeks today and haven't had any morning sickness. It's just the thought of any kinds of chips make me nauseous.

    What is your EDD?
  • It seems like I have aversions to most healthy foods and crave all the junk food.

Which is very strange because I typically have salads for lunch and I can't even fathom eating one right now.  I'm really hoping this passes soon.

  • I had major aversions to meat/protein the last pregnancy but I don't remember when it started. I could tolerate eggs but I really craved runny yolk. I don't have any food issues yet so far.

I've just been trying to stick to "the list" as much as possible, and I haven't had any major aversions to anything, even stuff I've added in that I didn't used to eat much of. But the weird thing is I don't crave chocolate and jelly beans like I did when I wasn't pregnant. I dug into my Hershey Kiss stash the other day, had exactly one, and was all "meh." I guess this is a good thing!

I honestly don't have an appetite for anything except for grilled onions

It cut me off! Sorry! But isn't it crazy how our bodies change so much?

As soon as I taste what I want I usually don't want it. What I am really craving - I would love a giant tray of fresh fruits and cooked veggies- grilled, mashed, roasted ec. Also, some lobster and crab. I have a feeling if I bothered to prepare something like that I would not want any of it. (like everything else)

I have completely lost my appetite for candy, chocolate, chips, any sort of junk or take out. So, basically all the stuff I usually love. (Other than sushi, I still want that)

Edit This happened woth my daughter as well. I couldn't eat chocolate or sweets for the entire time.
  • I have had minor nausea since right before BFP. It was only at night but lately it's been more random in the day. I normally love turkey sandwiches with mayo but just looking at the mayo today I was like yuck. I still ate it. It's happened with other foods too, I'm able to eat them which is good, but they sound just terrible and give me a queezy feeling. I sure hope this doesn't develop into full blown MS with vomit.

No chocolate or sweets?! Sounds tough lol. But now that you mention it, I haven't really craved either!

I love fruits & veggies, but sick when I eat apples for some reason. My in laws are Indian, so I eat Indian food almost every day (usually vegetables) and yogurt.

    What are you currently eating?

I thought for sure by now I would already have MS, but I just feel nauseous a lot. I don't have an appetite for anything, but I notice the longer I go without eating the more sick I feel. Does that happen with you also?

I dont risk eating anything that I feel nauseous about. Chips is the biggest thing. The simple thought of them makes me nauseous. It's crazy because I didn't feel that way last week.

I am having a lot of fruits and veggies, and as much meat as I can stomach which is usually a few bites. I just ate a tortilla with herb and garlic cream cheese, grilled red and orange peppers, onions and strawberry fig balsamic reduction. (Easy and quick although no one else found it appetizing)

I am stocking up on all fresh produce tomorrow and preparing it so it's easy to access all week.

Edit I have always loved fruits and veggies but now I would pick a pepper over a steak and I would trade chocolate for a sweet potato.

Your wrap sounds delicious! I am going to try it. I hope we both make healthy decisions during our pregnancies. We always have fruits & veggies but I am definitely going to stock up on more!

My first pregnancy I didn't want anything to eat. I didn't get sick but I was nauseous all the time especially in the morning. The longer I didn't eat the worse it got. My mom finally forced me to eat one day while visiting and I felt better. This time around I feel nausea but know I need to eat something. So far everything has stayed down but I notice I'm full faster and hungrier sooner.

  • No cravings yet; but last time I could not get enough sunny side up eggs. We'll see if it holds true for this time around, too.

Yes! Same here with feeling full faster and hungrier sooner. I don't want to gain a lot of weight but I keep hearing that most women gain a lot during their first pregnancy. I don't go crazy with my food or portions and I have been walking every night. Just staying positive and looking forward to a healthy pregnancy!
  • I have hated carrots since I was first introduced to them as a baby. My other pregnancies,  hated them. The past couple days I have eaten two large bags of baby carrots. They are just so satisfying, I cant believe what ive been missing all these years!

I'm not a Dr but I have a feeling most first time mothers gain so much because they use their pregnancy as an excuse to go crazy. I know I did. I had 3 ramen noodles in 1 sitting once! Yikes plus I was eating double whopper value meals from burger king. My goodness I was a pig with no limits. I still only gained 27 lbs but I kept eating like that after baby was born so I didn't lose any I actually gained more! My second I craved salads thank goodness and I only gained 12 lbs but I started at 147 and was staying healthy. After my 6 week check up I was at 135 so I think I was dropping some of my own fat but was healthy for baby. It sounds like you are trying to watch yourself and stay active so keep up the good work! You are doing great :)

  • I am almost at 7 weeks and I haven't had cravings yet, but there are definitely a lot of foods that make me feel sick just thinking about them! Anything soft and mushy makes my stomach turn and my throat tighten. I only want crunchy foods! It doesn't matter if they are healthy or unhealthy (chips, crisp fruits or veggies, pretzels, hard taco shells, etc.) I feel nauseous if I don't eat for awhile but then usually feel nauseous after eating until I burp (it is SO weird but I'm just thankful that it isn't vomiting)!

Isn't the burping soooo weird? I have never had that before! I notice that I have to burp after everything I eat now!!! My in laws look at me like I'm crazy lol

Chinese food always makes me feel yucky, even before being pregnant. It always sounds yummy though lol

That's awesome! Yeah I'm def watching what and how I eat. I've stayed the same weight for the last 6 months and now being almost 7 weeks, I've gained 1 pound but I think it may also be because I have been constipated :( no fun.

It's awful and gluten free noodles just aren't the same.

I just harvested my garlic scapes and the sweet, wonderful, springtime smell made me wretch.  I think I'll make a bunch of pesto while mouth breathing tomorrow and save it for healthier times.

If it isn't for a health condition (celiac disease etc) maybe you could ease up on the gluten free while you are pregnant so you can enjoy more.
