Hi everyone. My name is Sarah. I have been lurking here a bit. I was regular on TTGP since August/September. I still occasionally participate there. My husband and I have been married now almost 2 years. We have been trying since early May of 2015. So we are in month 14 of ttc. I have been diagnosed with PCOS; mainly cysts, irregular cycles, and long cycles. About 2 years ago I went through a 9 month phase of amenorrhea. I now ovulate each cycle, confirmed by bbt charting, although with irregular timing. My bloodwork has come back okay but I had an abnormal HSG. No dye entered either tubes and we are looking to do a laparoscopy dye test next. My husbands SA was normal. I'm looking forward to getting to know all you lovely ladies along this journey. I'm so sorry any of us are here and will offer support in any way I can.
ETA: Just some basics about us. I'm 30 and H is 29. We've been together nearly 5 years and we live in the United Arab Emirates. I'm a teacher to 3, 4, and 5 years olds and my H is a customer care representative for an airline

Hi @lablover78 thank you for the welcome. I never had a medical diagnosis as to why and since we weren't ttc at the time I didn't pursue it. IMO I had an incompetent doctor back then but that's hindsight and knowing everything I know now. If I had really thought about it, I wouldn't have waited a year to see a doctor. That said, my reasons behind my amenorrhea and getting my period back are not medically based. I'm a bit of a health and fitness freak and I seem to have a very sensitive level for too low fat intake. It took a bit of working with my trainer who is also trained a bit in some nutrition but we made some links to a dropped intake of fat. I was still within what is considered a normal intake, albeit more on the low side but as soon as I added back in some healthy fats, I shortly regained my period. I had other symptoms that led us to the fat intake issue like disorientation, disturbed short-term memory, and general confusion.

Hi @sarah0985 I recognize you from the TTGP board; welcome, I'm sorry you find yourself here. This is a really supportive group though, and we are all going to get through this together
I have heard there can be many false positives for blocked tubes on HSG's so don't despair. My doctor used something like a hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography which is where they fill the uterus with saline, and use an ultrasound to follow an air bubble through each fallopian tube. Maybe this is an option for you? Either way, It's not uncommon for tubes to look blocked on an HSG and then be normal when imaged a different way. Good luck!

Hi @reesaanne16 I recognize you too! I see a few names actually that I recognize. My doctor did tell me that and so did some research. Trying to keep my hopes up. My doctor did not mention that test but the hsg was so painful for me I'd honestly prefer the anesthesia for me. It was the worst pain I had ever felt. Even the thought of redoing it is out of the question for me.

Welcome to the board! There are a lot of really supportive people here. I hope the laparoscopic HSG can help point you in the right direction for treatment.
Welcome to the board and best wishes as you keep seeking answers!
