Took my 3 hour today. I knew I was going to fail it. Brought my glucose monitor with me. Passing is Fasting: 95, 1 hour: 180, 2 hour: 155, 3 hour: 140. My numbers were 88, 225, 174, and 57 (holy blood sugar drop Batman). So I actually failed all 3 hour tests, but the third hour I failed the opposite way. So we'll see what exactly the official results say, but obviously I've got gestational diabetes for the third time. Again, no surprise. With my first pregnancy I was able to control with diet, second pregnancy ended before I even got my new lancets and test strips in, hopefully diet alone will control this one, but with my weekly progesterone shot it may be worse this time around.
Anyone else already on the GD train?

Im sorry you're needing to deal with it again, but at least you know what you need to do and hopefully the diagnosis isn't as overwhelming with some experience under your belt!
Oh yeah, the first time I was completely overwhelmed. This time it's no biggie. I just hope the progesterone doesn't make it too much worse.
Basically the rules about carbs were: 30g for breakfast, 15 for morning snack, 60 for lunch, 30 for afternoon snack, 60 for dinner, 30 for night snack. There were also rules about vegetables, protein, and fat, but I don't remember those off the top of my head. Snacks were supposed to be 2-3 hours after a meal. I was more likely to have 2 afternoon snacks and no night snack. If you aren't able to keep your blood sugar in check with diet alone, your diet may become more restrictive and you may have to add medications. In the week between my diagnosis and meeting with the dietician I was all upset, but then after the meeting I felt much better.
My diet is similar except I have 45 carbs for lunch and dinner. It isn't a big deal if you follow the rules and in fact even though it is scary I didn't have any of the dreaded post baby weight last time. I weighed less after delivery (a week or so afterwards) than before I got pregnant.
The only issues that drives me batty is that in addition to seeing my endocrinologist and my ob, I also now have to see the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. So more time out of the office.
And the testing strips can be costly. But I was freaked out about pricking my finger and it turned out to be no big deal.
