So, what's everyone's deal with Braxton hicks contractions? Are you feeling them yet, and how often/how far along are you? I turned 20 weeks on Saturday and last night I had what I thought were two back to back. I've never been pregnant before so I'm only going off what I read they are supposed to feel like. It was like something moved from the top, down and then there was a hard ball where it ended. I tried to tell myself that one of the babies could have moved and rolled into a ball right there, but it really just seemed like it could have also been a contraction because the hardness went away after I switched positions. I am pretty sunburnt, so probably a little dehydrated even though I am chugging water like its my job. I just don't know what to be worried about or not. They were back to back so I was afraid we were going to need to go to the hospital. Anyone?
@sjo_thetwins I would keep chugging water and not worry unless you start having that feeling frequently. It DOES sound like BH from what you described and I have been having mine for a few weeks already. Happened with my last LO early on too. Some days and times I have them more frequently than others and some days not at all. I think it just depends on my fluid intake, stress levels, how tired I am, etc. If you are concerned I would call your OB and run it by him/her, but I don't personally believe it warrants an expensive visit unless you are feeling frequent and significant contractions or in pain, but you should certainly at least call for a professional opinion if you feel the need. Oh pregnancy, you pesky little tart!
@AllyTheKid does stress level effect those too? I was pretty stressed out on top of shaking violently from this awful sunburn. I guess all of those things could be triggers? I haven't had them every day but two back to back certainly scared me. I read that 4+ in an hour warranted a doctor visit so.... I feel fine and they weren't painful. I'll just keep an eye on them. Thank you for letting me know that you've been getting them too. I really don't know how common they are in (fairly) early pregnancy, or at least being a little over halfway thru.
@sjo_thetwins I know for me stress is definitely a contraction trigger. And with my son, I started getting BH at 15 weeks. I ended up at the hospital with them at 25 and 30 weeks because they were so intense I thought I was going into labor, but when I went to L&D, they put me on fluids, monitored me, and nada. After those two trips, I decided to roll with the contractions and let them be unless my water broke, which it did at 37 weeks. I plan to do the same with this one if the BH gets real bad again. But this being your first pregnancy and with twins, definitely at least call and ask your OB what you should do. I hope yours ease up, I would hate to see anybody else have to deal with bad contractions for an entire half of their pregnancy, it really dampens what joy the other symptoms haven't stolen from you haha
Bringing the little guy we're hoping to adopt to open clinic for burn scars tomorrow which will mean getting to the hospital around 8 am and the likelyhood is that we will sit around til 3 or 4 pm! But seeing an American specialist Dr will be worth it.
Though that evening is my clinic apt for my a/s so I will have a LOT of sitting around tomorrow!

I get them if I don't drink enough. I got really really hot one day working outside in my yard and went into pre term labor. I thought for a whole day it was just BH but turns out they were real. They were able to stop it, but too much heat and not enough water for sure makes mine way worse and more frequent. If they don't let off its worth a trip to the doctor in my experience.

Realizing for the most part these "food comparisons" for size are totally random. With my ticker saying the baby is as big as a papaya? In Tanzania, papayas are than most full term babies.

Seriously!!! For this week for me so far I've seen zucchini, tomato, and mango. Um, those are all REALLY different shapes and sizes (not to mention there is huge variation within each of those fruits/veggies!!!!!) Then I saw baby was supposed to be 6 inches . . . um, since when are tomatoes regularly six inches long?!?!?!?!

It's funny how different websites or tickers use different fruits and veg too. I've seen lime twice, lemon twice, pomegranate more than once... So arbitrary.
Also so on the BH contractions- I've been dealing with constant on/off cramping all day. Sometimes painful, but usually not. Of course my doc is out, and the on call doc ordered a urinalysis but nothing more. So just sitting here waiting for results, drinking water like its my job. I'll update once I hear more, otherwise just waiting.
@CopperBoom86Those are not names. Are they? I always feel bad making fun of names because I gave my son an unusual name, but at least it's an actual name.
I just Googled. Apparently Kiptyn is the name of one of the guys on The Bachelor. And Drakeford is the name of a husband and wife singer/songwriter duo. Still not names.

She's actually always been a huge fan of the Bachelor and Bachelorette shows, so that's probably where she got Kipton from.
Although I can't hate on her too much for pulling a name from a TV show. When Megan Fox showed up on New Girl as "Reagan," my husband was like "I like that name." I said "huh, me too." And that's how we named our baby girl lol. At least it's an actual NAME!
I saw that sunrise/sunset crap and eye rolled so hard. I also just read something today about a woman changing the letters in Kaitlyn to Roman numerals so that she would be unique. KViiilyn, like k8lyn but somehow worse.
Braxton hicks have been happening here since like 14 weeks.. so lame. We tell our patients that six or more in an hour warrants a call/trip to l&d. I'm pretty sure this baby will never have a name. My husband and I cannot agree on anything and it's stressing me out. Zoo trip tomorrow with the kindergartener, should be fun! I have heartburn tonight and I'm highly unimpressed. That's about it for me and my randoms.
@coffee89 I saw that about kviiilyn, just gonna assume it's a joke for my own sanity and so I don't lose all faith in humanity. Just saw a name on Glow, Krimzon Alysabeth Sky. So speshul.
@ibabyloveb87 yes! And they're stretching it to two nights. I really feel like she needs to let Chad go before she gets physically hurt.
I think ink I may have had a BH contraction today. I got really hot and didn't drink enough water at work. It scared me when I got home, so I chugged 2 glasses quickly and have been sipping the rest of the night. Looks like I need to up the intake yet again. I think I'm going to float away!
Random Snoogle question- the inside of the tighter curve on mine seems to have a really tight inside seam when I open it up a little to lay in it. So when I have my shoulder up in the curve to lay my head on the pillow part, the fabric is so tight it's super uncomfortable on my shoulder. Is anyone else's like that or did I get a dud?
