Baby Names

First name to go with MN Jeanne?

I would like to give LO my middle name "Jeanne" (pronounced like regular "Jean"), but I'm having trouble coming up with a first name that isn't crazy popular that I like with that MN.

The names we currently like are Amelia, Elizabeth, and Juliet. Amelia Jeanne and Juliet Jeanne don't sound so hot to me. I think Elizabeth Jeanne sounds great (she would be Betty Jeanne and I think that's freakin adorable for a child). But Elizabeth is always SO POPULAR. I don't want her to have to be "Elizabeth X." for her entire life in school. There was always more than one of my first name around growing up and it sucked.

Any other classic/traditional names that sound good with the Jeanne MN? I'm not into trendy names (like Kayden, Aiden, Brooklyn, London are passes for me), and looking for something that's not too popular!

TIA :)

Re: First name to go with MN Jeanne?

  • Ahh but I love Elizabeth! Maybe she will go by a nickname since Elizabeth offers so many (like Betty!) and won't have to go by "Elizabeth X".. I actually don't know that many Elizabeth's personally. It's so classic.

    Victoria Jeanne
    Nicolette Jeanne
    Rebecca Jeanne
    Felicity Jeanne
    Frances Jeanne
    Catherine Jeanne
    Caroline Jeanne
    Tabitha Jeanne
    Beatrice Jeanne
    Naomi Jeanne

  • I also love Elizabeth, and I think Amelia Jeanne sounds nice.  Agree that Juliet Jeanne is a little much with the alliteration.  If you're going to call your child Betty, that's not a super common NN for Elizabeth so I think it wouldn't be a big deal.

  • I'd just go with Elizabeth. Name popularity is so different than when we were kids. A number 1 name now has approximately 20,000 babies born with that name. The number 1 name in 1988, for example, had 51,000 babies with that name. So there is a lot more variety nowadays. And, Betty Jeanne is freakin adorable!

Betty is one of my favorite names, either as a standalone fn or nn. That's my vote.

  • If you love Elizabeth I would just go with that. Honestly she would have to correct her teachers anyway if she is going to go by Betty.

Didn't read all the previous suggestions, so sorry if there are repeats:
    Celia Jeanne
    Dahlia Jeanne
    Meredith Jeanne
    Margaret Jeanne
    Clara Jeanne
    Dana Jeanne
    Vera Jeanne
    Dorothy Jeanne
    Lydia Jeanne
  • I agree Juliet Jeanne doesn't flow, but I actually like Amelia Jeanne. I also think there is nothing wrong with Elizabeth. It is popular, sure, but that's because it's classic. The NN Betty is also not as common so she would be unique there.

I work in a nursing home and have probably 40 Elizabeth's of 200 residents. I can't say I have met an Elizabeth under the age of 30.

  • I like Elizabeth Jeanne too! Betty is a great nickname, and if she hates it there are so many options. I also really like Amelia with Jeanne. Emma or Emily are super popular, but I think sound nice with Jeanne too, especially with the nickname Emmy.

I love the name Elizabeth nn Betty with Jeanne! I don't know any little Elizabeth's or Betty's, I really don't think that you would need to worry about your lo being one of many in each class.
  • My cousin is in her 20s and her name is Elizabeth, her grandmother was Elizabeth NN Betty. My cousin goes by Liz or Lizzie. I have another friend from work who goes by Liz, she's in her 20s. Betty is definitely the more old fashioned NN but it is cute, and a lot of the older names are making a comeback.

Juliet Jeanne is definitely a mouthful.

My little cousin is Lucy Jean and i always thought it sounded cute together. Anything with two syllables I think would flow well with Jeanne.
  • I know this might be too popular, but my daughter's name is Charlotte Jean, after my mother. I call her CJ. It makes me think of my mom :-)! Anyway, I love the flow of it!
But you definitely can't go wrong with Elizabeth!
  • I love Elizabeth, and I think that if you plan to call her Betty she won't share her "name" with many girls. If that's your favorite name, I say go for it!
