is anyone else dealing with this? It's so sad to see my baby hurting all day long. She literally screams all day when she is awake. I took her to the pediatrician yesterday and got a prescription. Hopefully it helps soon!!
Yes LO got Zantac about two weeks ago and it has helped so much with his spill ups. Before it use to be like a waterfall of spill up after every feeding regardless of what we did. He still deals with gas but it's manageable and at least he can hold in most of his food.
Zantac is also what we put her on. I can tell it's helping already. She is still a fussy baby but she isn't screaming constantly. The amount of spit up hasn't lessened a whole lot but it doesn't seem to bother her as bad anymore. I'm so grateful for modern medicine!
So glad it's helping you all! Our LO is constantly spitting up but a pretty happy baby. Our pediatrician won't prescribe her anything unless she becomes an "unhappy spitter" in her words. Just doing lots of laundry
I kept calling the pedi so many times that he eventually haves us the prescription and ordered an abdominal ultrasound to make sure it wasn't anything serious. He had one horrible day of spit up and almost became dehydrated. He's been better since because of the med.

That's how DS1 was. He was gaining weight and was happy as can be, but he spit up so much. A happy spitter!
My son is a reflux baby. He's on Zantac which has helped some with the pain - but he still has 1-2 episodes of back arching and screaming a day. It has not helped with the spit up at all - in fact he's spitting up more now than he was before the meds. He's even spitting up hours after a feeding and it's a mixture of stomach acid and partially digested food. He has been referred to a specialist but the earliest appointment we can get is July 18th. But since he's gaining weight and not having too many pain episodes, we are seeing improvement which makes us happy. Until then - we have all feeding chairs covered with towels, have bought so many burp clothes and clothes. And doing plenty of laundry.
Oh I'm sorry it's not making a huge difference! My little girl is also on Zantac. It has helped her so much but it also has constipated her. She is so happy on days she can poop by herself haha. She was one who would eat to try and help the pain so she isn't eating as much now which means she isn't throwing up quite as much. I have been told by a few friends who had acid reflux babies to use the small receiving blankets instead of burp cloths which has saved me a few times. I've also been told that it usually goes away once they are on real food so hopefully around 6 months we will all have happier babies!
I'm thinking of talking to my pedi about it at his two month check next Monday. He arches his back and cries/squeals (really high pitch)after feeding. He wants to keep eating more and is really fussy, has trouble eating and spits up multipul times after eating... Does that sound likes reflux? I know I had it when I was a baby (and now) and my mother and grandfather both have it...
We are suffering from reflux here as well. We have had an upper GI done because the choking on two separate occasions caused him to stop breathing. Thankfully it's just a really bad case of reflux and nothing more serious. Zantac was no help so he was switched to Prilosec by the GI which has helped in addition to rice cereal in his bottles. Instead of spitting up 3/4 of his bottle he spits up about a 1/4 now and is gaming weight. We recently had to up the dosage of his meds because he was back to 30 minutes of screaming and arching his back after eating. It's nice to have my happy baby back. Looking forward to our two month appointment this week to see how much weight he's gained.
