Hello ladies
TW******* loss mentioned
I am wondering if any of you know anything about type 2 diabetes causing recurrent miscarriages.
I've had 2 losses this year (my first times being pregnant) and I had some blood work done, and my post food insulin is a little high. My dad has T2 diabetes, his dad as well, so I knew it was a possibility. I am not overweight and my BMI is normal.
Today I went to the internal medicine Doctor, who referred me to a nutritionist and start a diet. On Monday I have my OBGYN appointment. Maybe then I will have more answers. Or not.
Just wondering if you ladies have experiences with this.
thanks!

Re: Diabetes and recurrent miscarriages?
I don't have experience with diabetes in regular life, but I did have blood sugar issues while pregnant with #1. I horribly failed my first test and barely passed my second. I ended up delivering at just about 35 weeks and the NICU team where we were hospitalized felt I had untreated gestational diabetes that led to premature labor. Their guidelines were different than my OBGYN's who were working out of a different hospital. Anyways, it was an absolute miracle that my son came out when he did, which I was told again and again throughout our extended hospital stay.
As I'm sure you've read untreated diabetes is an indicator for loss, both early and late-term (stillbirth). Like you, I am not overweight and look lean/athletic which I think made my OB dismiss my bad blood sugar results. If I am lucky to get pregnant again, I will likely follow a diabetes diet and work with a nutritionist.
Good luck with all of your testing and keep us posted!

@MWoodside I don't think I have PCOS (I had to google it), I have had many intra-vaginal ultrasounds to check my uterus and ovaries... It would have shown if I had it, right? And I do ovulate very much on time each month, so far.
Why do you ask? Is there a connection?

i had an apt on Monday with my OBGyn and he said that high insulin can trigger
repeated MC. So that's a possibility.
Now I am waiting for my Friday nutritionist appointment and hoping to tackle this insulin with diet and metformin.
will keep you posted!
