WTF Wednesday

What's bugging you today?

My WTF goes to my DH's work. They assured him they would not schedule more than 3 appointments a day on his calendar...so today he's running 4 appointments...yay! Not! Thanks for not keeping your word people  :s
So our limited time together becomes non existent.

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • Toddler is apparently having nightmares (night terrors?). He is a champion sleeper. Like 12-15 hours a night, plus one 1-2.5 hour nap... he woke up at 3 am, screaming. We tried rocking him, getting him more milk, nothing worked. He was fine as long as he was in our arms, but he wouldn't go back to sleep... if we tried to put him in his crib, he freaked out. He was up until 5 this moving.
Same thing happened with nap time today. He screamed, clawed at the side of his crib, and even tried climbing out... ugh. He's just too young to understand or to tell me what's wrong. :(

  • Also, stepdaughter's mother. W.T.F. I want to put her on total blast, but because of the current court case, I'll shut up for now. Just please send us good vibes. We need them. Many, many changes to come...
  • @BarrettJ89 you'll be in my thoughts. You're one hell of a lady! Good luck

this guy is my wtf. He's a pure bred, 9 year old english Springer spaniel. He's my best friend. He's friendly, he doesn't bark. He sits and stays. He doesn't run off. He knows lots of cool tricks. We've ran, swam, hiked and rode thousands of miles. We have 2 other dogs who i love. But this one is special. Except one major problem. Over the past 2 years he's marked in my house. It's not a healthy environment for my daughter. I've been struggling with it for weeks. I  know to some he's just a dog. But he's my best friend. I've had several people offer to take him. Because he's such a great dog. Its killing me inside. I feel like right now i can't provide the exercise he needs, he's still very happy and energetic. I just don't know what to do.
  • P.s. the marking issue, we have ruled out medical problems. He is not fixed either. At his age even his vet doesn't think it will help

@BarrettJ89 My three year old step daughter would wake up several times a night screaming, crying, and saying things that didn't make sense. When we would try to comfort her she would completely lose it and go full blown trantrum. Then in the morning she was fine. I finally googled and it was night terrors. My research said the worst thing you can do is go in and "wake" them. It's also worse when it's hot and when they've taken medication that causes drowsiness like Benadryl.

  • My WTF is sleep training.  I'm not doing it officially yet (LO isn't quite 4 months and we want to wait until after that) but I am trying to get her weaned off of her bad nap habits before she starts daycare in about 2 months.  She has basically every bad nap habit possible, and it's our fault because she was such a bad sleeper we were willing to do any (safe) thing to get her to sleep.  (Luckily, at night, she sleeps in her crib fine, albeit for only a few hours at a time.)  Anyway, for her to nap during the day she needs a bottle, to be rocked, and then to be held for the *entire* duration of the nap.  We're first working on breaking the dependency on the bottle, and then slowly going to stop the rocking and then, at some point, maybe before she goes away to college, we'll be able to put her in the crib "drowsy but awake."

But holy crap, just the first step is SO hard.  She is so positive she needs a bottle to sleep, she screams and cries and her face turns red.  Sometimes she even cries so hard she chokes.  It's torture for both of us!  But finally, tonight, I got her to sleep without a bottle.  She woke up in my arms *seven times* screaming and crying, but I got her back down.  I was SO happy!  And then, guess what?  After she was sound asleep and transferred to the crib, I realized I calculated wrong, and she's about 3-4 ounces short on her food intake today!  D'oh!  So, she is definitely going to be waking up soon, and she's going to be hungry.  I feel terrible, but I'm reminding myself that this is a process that we will both get better at.  Sigh.
  • My wtf is I'm going to an outdoor wedding this weekend 2 hrs away and the ceremony site is 20 minute walk from the house in the middle of nowhere nc with no shade. It's casual but I still haven't bought any decent pp clothes let alone something that would be good for that hike.
