I had an interesting labor and still kinda can't believe it when I think about it.
I had lost some of my mucus plug on Tuesday. On Wednesday I lost even more, possibly all of it, and DH and I went out to,eat and got spicy food for dinner. At 1:30am Wednesday morning I woke up to go to the bath room and had bloody show and started to have cramps. I had cramps all night long and didn't really get any sleep. I was supposed to work from home but since I got so little sleep I slept until around 8:30am. The cramps continued all day. I was able to nap a little bit, between the cramps. They seemed to have let up a little bit, for a short period of time.
DH got home late and I had him go pick me up pancakes, eggs, and bacon for dinner. I sat and ate it while bouncing on my ball. The pain was getting so bad I ended up going up to bed to try and lay down to see if that helped. Plus I didn't want DH to have to see me like that. The cramping just got worse. At 3:00am on Friday morning I had a really strong one and felt a gush. I high tailed it to the bathroom, my water had broken.
i called the midwife and told her my water broke. She asked about contractions and I told her I was just having cramping. She said when I had contractions 7 minutes apart I could head in, or I could head in now. She told me to shower and eat something before heading in. Everything had gotten so intense, it took me almost an hour to make my way out of the bathroom to wake DH up. I took a shower, for 45 minutes. I couldn't even stand up, because that made it worse.
we finally made it to the hospital just before 8:00am. I got all checked in and changed. It also took me forever to change. I got in the bed and was laying down when I had another contraction. The midwife put her hand on my stomach and told me to just breath, I told her I was trying to. She immediately said to the nurse, "I NEED TO CHECK HER IMMEDIATELY!!" My body was trying to push and I was trying to stop it. (This had been happening since my water broke, I just ha don idea what was going on.) She checked me and I was already fully dilated and at station +2. They immediately wheeled me into a birthing room. I pushed for less than 2 hours and he was born! Put precious little boy. We both cried. It was such a beautiful experience. I still can't get over it. And I also can't believe I labored at home until I was all the way dilated. It's a good thing we left for the hospital when we did! I got the medicine free birth I had been hoping for, but wasn't sure I'd actually be able to achieve.
Thor Raynor weighed 7lb9oz and was 20.25" tall. He was born at 9:54am on Friday, May 27, 2016. Four days past his due date. He is everything I thought he'd be and so much more. I'll add pictures when I am on my phone, since that's how here they all are!
