Crown Moulding.

How much can it be?  Is it hard to trim it around the nursery to create a two-tone?

Our nursery is small, but average.

Re: Crown Moulding.

  • It can be anywhere from $3 per foot to $25 per foot, depending on how elaborate you get.  If you're looking at installing it at chair rail height, it's easier than doing it on the ceiling (you only have to deal w/2 dimensions).

  • Yes, it will be chair height.

  • It can be done with basically just a level, a tape measure, some nails, nail filler and a hammer, although you might want to rent a nail gun.  I would go to Home Depot or Lowe's and look for a book that would have step by step instructions.  Either place will have the materials, and both should be able to cut the pieces to length, so long as you measure carefully!  Let me repeat that MEASURE CAREFULLY!  It just takes a little thought, and some careful planning.  You can totally do this!
  • its pretty easy/ the hardest parts are the corners trying to line them up. no walls are even in any house.  if you go to home depot look for the contractor packs of chair rail. it is much cheaper... i believe it comes out to be about 50 cents a foot. its not the wood but its the composite... you cant tell the difference once its painted.

i would also suggest getting pieces the whole lenght of the wall so you dont have to worry about seams

    good luck

  • One little hint when doing crown molding...if your corners don't match (like some of ours :)) up put a little joint compound were they meet up and you can't even tell after you paint!!
