Re: Knitting/crocheting/sewing/other crafters
I actually just started a really big sweater project for myself a month ago, sort of like a knitting version of reverse psychology. I was bummed I didn't have a kiddo to be knitting for, so I said "I know, I'll find a sweater for myself, invest in some really nice yarn, and bam, I'll get knocked up"... worked! Now I have no interest in it, but I probably should tackle it now, otherwise I'll be digging it out of my basket in 5 years and trying to remember what on earth I was starting on with it...

For my little one, I'm thinking of crocheting a zebra stripe blanket and a stuffed zebra, at least! (I'm addicted to zebra print!)

Also, if anyone has a pattern for a stuffed deer, I would really appreciate it. There was one in an old crochet magazine, but I can't find an original copy. L
I'm not much of a knitter or crocheter (Seeing baby stuff makes me want to try my hand at it again though!) but I am an avid cross-stitcher and am planning on a few pieces for our nursery. I started working on this one right when we started TTC and I just knew when I finished it, it would be the right time. I got my BFP the day after I finished it
Now I'm starting on this:
sorry if this is huge- mobile bumping. These were two fun patterns!
but my yarn shop would get suspicious and I want to hear a heartbeat first just in case.
if I go with cloth diapering I'm looking forward to making wool covers, too.

I don't know how much confidence I have in being able to teach myself, but I guess it's worth a shot! I'm a very visual learner, so maybe YouTube will be best.
Side note, I don't know if any of you have a Ravelry account, but they have tons and tons of patterns of there, and some of them you'd have to pay for, but a lot of them are free.

Personally I couldn't learn knitting on my own. I ended up taking a free class to pick up absolute basics, and I still learn things from other knitters. But I tend to learn from doing.

What else is everyone sewing/crafting for baby?
Let's just hope I can finish it before he gets here!
Sorry if the picture is huge, I'm mobile! I'm going to try and make these for the new baby! Just need to pick out some fabric for the whales!

But I'm hoping to get the whole wall with the towel rack into a Super Mario World set, including the ground and scenery, and then have the wall by the toilet decorated with a bunch of Nintendo cross-stitch pieces I've done:
Collectively, they tell a really sad but sweet story. The first piece I started working on when I met my fiancee. I left the country and we parted ways for a long time. The cross-stitch went through a lot of time where I didn't work on it because it was so massive and had so many issues... I finished it about a week after my fiancee and I moved in together.
The mdidle one, I started working on it right around when I got pregnant with my first pregnancy (like, probably within a week of conceiving). I lost the pregnancy late in the first trimester but kept working on it with this weird feeling that whenever I finished it was when they (it was twins) would have been born... their full-term due date was February 23rd but everyone knows twins usually come around 36-37 weeks... sure enough... I finished it around when I would have been 36/37 weeks. So it's sort of a memorial piece in a way? Last piece I started working on when we decided to try again with this pregnancy. I finished it the night before I found out I was pregnant with him.
So it's a Nintendo themed collection of cross stitch pieces that pave a story of how this little guy came to exist. I have no idea if I'll ever share that story with him, but it's kind of emotional to me!
