Trouble TTC

Introduction - Not sure where I belong

Hello all!

About me: I'm 33, DH is 35.  We started trying to conceive exactly 3 years ago. Last July I was diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes and DH with mild MFI.  We went through 1 fresh IVF that was a chemical and 2 FET that were both BFN's.  I really did not like my RE at ALL!  So after my BFN (in February) I went back to my gyno to discuss surgery to look at my tubes.  Three weeks ago I had a lap done and she found the following: my tubes were fragile but she was able to open them (praise God!), my cervix was full of scar tissue and stetonic (it was pretty much completely closed), my uterus was frozen and not in a state to accept a pregnancy and there with many cysts.

I'm glad I did the surgery bc I've now been diagnosed with PCOS (based on the number of cycts and other symptoms) and my body is ready to accept a pregnancy! But my gyno wants me to do OPK's for the next 6 months to see if I'm ovulating on my own each month and if we can get pregnant on our own.  But I'm not comfortable with waiting that long especially knowing DH also has some stuff working against him.  I go back in August for a 3 month follow up and don't know if I should say something!  I'm also concerned with how PCOS is going to affect a pregnancy.

Would you ladies wait it out for 6 months, praying and hoping for my LO? My gyno is going to refer me to a new RE if I need to do that, so do I just ask in August?

Oh the stress besides the fact that I'm my first TI after the surgery ended with a BFN and a raging period!  Thanks for reading my novel! LOL. Are there TI support groups in this TTTC community like there is in the infertility group?

Hoping and praying for you always!

Re: Introduction - Not sure where I belong

  • Hi & welcome! This group is smaller - we do a weekly check-in instead of the beta/testing date but you can bounce around in both as many ladies do. I don't know-my RE NP said that I could be getting false positives on my OPKs due to PCOS but I'm not sure if that is 100% accurate. That's crazy they couldn't see any of those things before the surgery? Glad you took control of your journey!

  • Wow, what a story, I'm sorry you're going through this, but glad you're getting some answers.

I would definitely not do OPKs alone for 6 mo. Without talking to a RE. I was readying with OPKs for a year and got a smiley on day 18 or 19 every single month and my period 14 days later. when I went to the RE for a diagnostic cycle it turns out my surge was much later than when my egg should have been released and was way to low even though the OPKs picked it up.

I was shocked to learn that just because I got a smiley does not mean I was ovulating a ripe egg. (FYI my FSH and AMH) are fine. I have no fertility insurance but all of the diagnostic testing was covered by my health insurance so I would 100% go see a RE, they'll tell you way more than an OPK.

    good luck!

  • After 3 years I would say "hellllllll no I ain't waiting 6 more months. Especially with pcos.
