January 2017 Moms

Two under two

Any other bump moms going to have two babies under two?  My DD will be 1 year and 2 months by the time this baby is born.  This baby is was a complete surprise since we used Clomid and progestrone cycles to get pregnant with DD.  While we are excited and happy we are also a little overwhelmed.  On the bright side, we now only need to get another crib, more bed sheets, more cloth diapers, and unisex clothes (we're team green this time!)

Any one else? :)

I'm feeling just like you! Ours will be 16 months apart:)

  • Ours will be 15.5 months apart! It is definitely overwhelming.

This is my first, so definitely not in your position. But I hope to be in a couple years.... My brother and I are  months apart. We LOVED it growing up. I'd like to give my kids the same closeness. Though my mom does agree she doesn't remember most of his early childhood... I'll do it for them though.

So essentially I look forward to seeing how you guys deal with it, research  ;)
  • This is a surprise baby for us as well! DS2 will be 16 months and DS1 will only be 3 years old, so it should be pretty busy around here. We are a little terrified and overwhelmed but starting to get really excited about adding to our family.
  • My first two are almost exactly two years apart. The difference between my second and this little one will be 18 months. I'm a little more nervous for this age gap but everyone I know who has little ones close loves it after the initial adjustment. It took about 2 months for us to mostly adjust from 1 to 2 kids at the 2 year age mark.
Baby Boy 3 is on the way!
    Due 1/21/17
  • I currently have 2 DD's....11.5 months apart.  When this babe is born, there will be 18.5 months between the youngest two, and my oldest will be 2.5.  Whoah!  It was terrifying for the first few weeks and I was so thankful my mom and sisters stayed with DH and I for 2 weeks, but once I got the courage to leave the house with the two of them, it was like old hat!  "I can do this" is a great mantra, it's ok if one or both cry when you're out and about, people understand and give you moral support (and those that don't I learned to ignore), and if you're just patient with the fact that things take longer to do, it's great!
Oh, and this sounds lame maybe, but Aldi has the BEST carts for 2 LO's!  They can both sit up front...once they get to that age.  And even when the littlest one is in an infant seat, there's still plenty of room in the main part for groceries!  At other stores, I just baby carried the infant.  But for winter time, it's not always convenient/warm to put the baby in the carrier from the infant car seat....easier to leave LO in the seat.
If anyone has any questions or is wondering about anything, I'd be happy to share more experiences!

Over here!! This one is a bit of a surprise considering DS is only 9months old. They'll be about 16 months apart which is terrifying and exciting because I loved being close in age to all my siblings.
On the plus side, DS will have/ already has grown out of all the infant stuff by the time this one needs it  :#

I'll have 2 under 2 also. My DS will be 16 months when our new little one gets here.  So excited, but right now struggling with the first trimester and taking care of an 8 month old.

  • My first will be 18 months when this one is born. I'm a little overwhelmed by it all, but we weren't preventing so I don't know why I was so surprised. I'm not looking forward to the reactions I know we'll get from family and friends, but we did always say we wanted them close together, so maybe people won't be too surprised.

Yup.  19 months apart for #2.  It wasn't planned and we are still quite shocked, but we hope they will be close.  We keep saying we don't even know what the terrible 2's are yet!

My daughter will be exactly 1 1/2 when number 2 arrives. I had a miscarriage and tried for alot longer then finally used clomid to have my daughter. With this one, we thought it will take a while so we'd have some fun and when it happens it happens. I wasn't tracking anything and honestly was sick so much we barely tried the month conceived. I have been kinda shocked that it happened so dag on fast. It is kinda cool that it happened in such a chill and surprising way this time as opposed to the stressful experience last time, however having two that young is making me nervous!

@RaquelB94 hi!! A15 from FB? I decided to head back over here for a bit, wondered if i'd 'see' you  :D

  • @Parley of course I had to come back to the bump haha hoping to get the same support here like we had in A15, and it's nice to see we won't be the only ones 2u2

@RaquelB94 for real, so nice to be around others!

What are all you ladies looking forward to with 2U2, and what are you dreading?
I'm excited as @ajmcarroll said to be able to reuse stuff, and i'm happy my LO's will hopefully have a built in bestie.
I'm honestly feeling a little overwhelmed by the idea of another pregnancy and all that goes with it so soon (I hated all the poking and prodding from docs). Also, I wish I had longer to forget what postpartum recovery was like!!
  • I'll have 2u2 my son will be 15months when this baby is born. My daughter will be 5. I'm so so nervous for the transition as I have a mamas boy who likes to spend his time with me so I worry about jealousy. I'm happy that I have all the baby things and only need new pacis and clothes if it's a girl.
  • Me! If this baby were to come on my due date my kids would be 18 months + 2 days apart. My in laws have already expressed major disdain for my "doing this on purpose"
  • @katesmama0706
Argh!!  This drives me nuts.  Children are a precious gift from God, and it bugs me when people have their own timeline of when others should expand their family.  You will love having your babes so close!!
  • I feel overwhelmed. My babies will be roughly 20 months apart. My first is almost a year old. She came a month early. I am 38 and so I guess it's better to do this now than wait but I feel like I haven't had a change to get my energy back.
  • Mine will be 20 months apart! Really interested (ahem.. terrified) to see how things go!

  • @Parley I get it. I was hoping to have the summer to get some relaxing and renergize but alas this will not be the case. I agree. If I had more time between maybe I would have forgot how hard pregnancy was or how stressful childbirth can be.
  • I don't feel so alone! :)
  • My youngest just turned 1 on April 27th and I am due Jan. 9th, 2017. I am very scared.

  • I had forgotten about the pain of childbirth with the 4 years between my first and second. Since my 2nd is only 7 months the pain is still so real and has me oh so nervous !
  • My husband and I will have 3 under 2 my oldest will be 2yr 8mths and my second will be 16th :)
  • Mine will be 20 months apart too! It's going to be interesting!!

@ajmcarroll I will be 2u2 this time around as well, but barely (DS will be 22 months). But when DS was born, DD had just turned 17 months and it was so difficult! Not saying that to scare you, but maybe to help prepare you. It's not easy some days but you will get into a new routine as you adjust and it definitely does become a bit easier as your kiddos get bigger! The biggest thing for me was I couldn't sit and relax or nap when DD was napping because then I had this little tiny newborn who's schedule was completely non-existent and didn't flow with DD's routine but eventually it happened. Even at their age now some days I want to pull my hair out but seeing them interact and how much they love each other totally outweighs all the bad days! My son tells "Sissy!" Or her name in the morning and gets so excited to see her and vice versa. They do fight, as siblings do, but they totally melt my heart and I really love their age gap! You got this mama! The hardest part is adjusting to life with two but like I said, it won't be so difficult forever!

Us as well! Just found out a week ago that #3 is on the way! My second son will be one tomorrow. We also have a 5yr old. Unexpected, but wonderful news! I'm a bit fearful about having a 22mo old and a new born
  • keifekmkeifekm member
@addeywu we will have pretty similar ages too. Our daughter is 5 and our son will be 21 months when baby is born. It will be a whole new scenario with 2 under 2 than it was with our daughter being 4 when our son was born. This is very unexpected but in such a good way.
  • @addeywu kinda in the same boat. My oldest son will be 6 in july his sister is 1 just 2 short weeks. So they are a good 5 years apart.  We just found out we are expecting #3. #2 and #3 will be a year and half in age difference. Completely unexpected but so wanted.
