Humidifiers

Sorry again if there's already a post about this, I'm not on here very frequently anymore... LO is six months old now, and hasn't really needed a humidifier. However, it's starting to get hot and dry in New Mexico, and I'm wondering whether you ladies have used warm or cool humidifiers. I know the biggest concern with the warm missed ones (before baby is big enough to pull them down) is that they harbor bacteria. I'm kind of a clean freak and know I'd sterilize it regularly, but I'm wondering if there is any other reason I wouldn't be able to just use the warm mist one we already have. Thanks in advance!

Other than the bacteria and possibility of pulling it down on themselves, the warm mist ones are fine, so if you're going to take care of those problems then there's no reason you can't use your warm mist humidifier

The cool mist humidifiers also need to be emptied daily and sanitized regularly. They too can harbor bacteria.
  • I prefer the cool mist ones because the warm ones make it harder for me to breathe. My younger siblings pedi recommended a cool one too over a warm one
  • We use a cool mist one and I like it.  I think warming ones make the room feel stuffy.  I empty and wipe it out daily and take a toothbrush to it occasionally to clean it.
