new or bigger moles when pregnant

Hi ladies..wondering if anyone also has a mole that has gotten massive since you have been pregnant.  I have one on my neck that has always been big..but a month or two ago my mom  commented that it looked bigger. I didn't think much of it..just figured she noticed it more bc my hair was up that day. Then today my sister said the same thing. It is more raised I think for sure. Google says normal ones are 6mm or less and I measured it with a rulor  and think it's like 6mm-7 (weird angle). Sound like a pregnancy thing or a go to the dermatologist thing?

Re: new or bigger moles when pregnant

  • I actually have one on my chest that got bigger. It's not that large I don't think. I'm going to have a dermatologist look at it later after the baby is born.

  • I've acquired some skin tags throughout the pregnancy that I'm probably going to have to get removed.  I swear like five or six have popped up at least.

Haven't seen any change in moles but definitely have more skin tags. I had them with dd too and they went away after I had her. You might have them checked after you have baby, just to be on the safe side, but it could be a totally normal thing!
  • Anytime a mole grows or changes shape you should see a dermatologist.
  • I definitely have!!!!! My OB noticed it too. I'm getting it looked at on 6/20, which should be about 3 weeks postpartum for me. I'll expect they'll remove it.
  • I went to the dermatologist a few weeks back to check on some moles that looked like they had changed recently. My dermatologist said that pregnancy hormones can definitely affect moles, but that mine did not appear to be of concern. It never hurts to have them looked at, but it may be no big deal.
  • I got skin tags!!! :( never had any before pregnancy, and now I have like 5.

  • I have a mole that has raised some. I asked my OB about it and she said it doesn't look like cause for concern, but gave me the number for a derm to check it out anyway. I'll be going next month.

  • I have a mole on my stomach that has gotten bigger, darker and more irregular lines. I saw a dermatologist and he said all the moles on my body are abnormal, but are probably changing due to pregnancy hormones. He took pics of it and wants to see me 6 months after baby is born to see if it is still changing.

Seconding this- whenever a mole changes shape or size it should be checked. The hassle is worth the risk.

  • I would get it checked out. I just had two removed that had changed since pregnancy. They take mine quick though because I have a history of melanoma. The most recent were non-cancerous, but I am defintely glad I had them checked out for peace of mind.

  • The mole under my armpit got bigger AND I got a skin tag on my left nipple. Yes, ladies, my nipple. Lucky me? Pregnancy growth hormones can bite me.

  • Tha KS ladies..gonna make an app to get it looked at for sure. I've had it looked at before and derm  said normal but it's just big and puffy now (gross).
  • With great effort, I looked "down there" with a mirror. I saw a new dark spot--didn't seem to be raised or anything. Should I just track it? I hadn't heard/thought of this business.
