Monoamniotic twins?

Went in for my 7 week ultrasound and found out we are having TWINS!  Totally shocking, especially since I'd had an ultrasound about a week and a half before and saw only one baby.  Both babies have a strong heartbeat and look to be growing well, but we could not see a division between them.  We were told they are likely to be monoamniotic twins.  Has anyone else heard this from their doctor?  In your case, did a division eventually appear or did the babies stay together?

Congrats!! I'm 7w4d with mono di twins, meaning they're identicals in the same gestational sac but each have their own amniotic sac. They're hanging out on opposite sides of the gs so it's pretty clear that they're mono di. With mono mono twins they do stay in the same amniotic sac the duration, you'll be monitored a little closer and you'll get to see those babes on ultrasound all the time! You have a good, experienced ob? You might look in to a MFM specialist too, I know they can be very helpful in high risk pregnancies and most multiples are considered high risk to a degree.

Also - same timeline with us! 5w4d we saw 1 embryo and 7w2d BAM! There's 2! I'm a little afraid they'll keep multiplying or something.... (Ha kidding!)

Thank you and congrats to you! Mine are on opposite sides too - have you been able to see a division line yet?  I talked to my fertility doctor and I may do some of my appointments with her and she recommended an OBGYN in the town where I live, so I'm feeling pretty good about that side of it.

We could see a halo around each one- not a clear line yet but my RE was pretty confident that at our next ultrasound in 2 weeks we'll see it clearly then 

ETA it's just really early to see everything still
