Canadian..haven't looked into how much my hospital tops up my unemployment yet, I should probably figure that out. I'm honestly in awe at how ladies in the US do it with the short leaves you get, I dont know if/how I'd do it..you deserve a lot more than what the policies give you! I really hope your mat leave policies change. You guys rock
@Amdogger82-- I totally think you could bring your baby to work within the first 3 months if it's low key and people you trust (and a small group) -- I did that with my first. It was a little stressful because DD started crying during the meeting and I had to change her diaper, but one of my STM co-workers was there and she held DD while I concentrated on my other co-workers. Most of the time the babies just sleep anyway! I was able to bring my daughter to coffee shops in a sling and work on a laptop for 2-3 hours while she slept so I think you could definitely do it.
I get a full 12 weeks paid and then can take up to 3 weeks of paid vacation and an additional 4 weeks unpaid. So, ultimately, I can take up to 19 weeks. But, I will likely take 14 (12 pd, 2 vacation) like I did the last time. I was ready with number 1...
