Maybe just you and me left? I had to change mine last night on account of a horrible stomach flu my son got this weekend making me think a couple of days of blander meals would be a good call, but here you go!
M-Homemade mac and cheese T- Ground beef and mushrooms with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans W- potatoes and chorizo with eggs and taco toppings (cilantro, onion, crema) Th- slow cooker Korean beef with rice and cabbage F- chicken alfredo pasta bake with broccoli S- chili S- grilled bbq chicken with sweet potatoes and collard greens
Thanks! His dad is home with him today and of course now he's fine. I'm just crazy overcautious lady because I really, really hate the stomach flu!
Feel free to come on by, I buy chorizo from the little carniceria that I drive by on the way home and it's SO GOOD. The butcher there makes it and he's very proud of his recipe. It's more coarsely ground and way less oily than most chorizo and so tasty. I have to admit I've eaten way more chorizo since I started buying it there, which is probably not doing anything for the nutritional levels of my meals but it's definitely improved the flavor.
@likeabel just out of curiosity, do you meal plan every week all the time, whether you're pregnant or not? I always have and thought it was normal but as an adult I've realized the vast majority of people don't. I grew up pretty poor so planning was essential to make money last and when I was 16 I started being responsible for the meal planning, shopping and usually cooking for my family so it's habit for me now. Even though I'm not currently as poor as I was then, it certainly was a skill that served me well through a lot of broke college years and some rotten entry level jobs. By the time I met my husband, it was such a habit to shop off a list I've just kept it up. He's pretty good about helping with all of the chores BUT cooking and he is seriously the worst cook I've ever known in my entire adult life. Now that we are about to have our second kid and I'm going to not get a paycheck for quite a while, I'm grateful that I can cook and plan frugal meals and stick to a budget because I know from experience it's easier to be broke when it doesn't mean you're stuck eating ramen and hamburger helper. I actually like to cook, so I don't mind too much and in the past few months my son ( he'll be 4 in June) has gotten really in to helping me chop and prep food and doing very basic cooking so that's been exciting for me and kept me motivated. I'm just always curious what motivates people who are planners like me and to see what other people are cooking because it gives me new ideas so I don't get stuck in a rut.
I've gone in and out of meal planning over the years but it makes the most sense. Part of it is for financial reasons but my current motivator is only having to go to the grocery store once a week. I'd rather take DS to the library or park and more recently he wants to be carried around the store, no thanks kid!
I also started buying frozen food in bulk so if I don't make a plan (and give my meat time to thaw) I don't get around to cooking it. DH shot an elk fall of 2014 and I'm still trying to get through it all!
