Just noticed the double post. Oops!
  • @Lynna813 I'm still wearing my Dansko clogs and bought a pair of Toms flats last week that have been amazing.  I was worried that they would be like most flats without much support, but I've been finding them extremely comfortable.

In the past I've had good luck with Merril and Keen brands, but no direct experience during pregnancy with them.  They have lots of different styles and generally pretty good support.

  • @winnie1122 you know I haven't done that but I think it would be incredibly helpful!! I've just been avoiding thinking about it but that's dumb, I would rather be well informed than going into it blindly.  Any videos in particular you recommend?

    Thanks randishane011804 and megstervt !!!

Edited to add: I flip my trash can over on its side to try and elevate my feet as much as I can but it really doesn't help. My feet are screaming for help by the time I get home lol. As soon as I get home I soak them in Epsom salt and I put them up on my coffee table with pillows underneath for extra elevation :) I also beg DH for a foot rub almost every day.

  • @Kellyj103 I was almost the opposite.....I had a real positive labor outlook, until the classes started!! The first one really had me questioning my certainty!! I've heard of the 36hr labors, but I guess I was a bit naive when I thought we'd breeze through it in a matter of hours. The whole process really is HOURS (of pain) long!!!

@Kellyj103 Look up YouTubers Ellie+Jared (they have two boys with birth videos from both, along with lots of others...I like them!) , Bonnie Holbein (sp?) is another, and Daily Bumps has a couple from their two kids' births as well. Usually other suggestions pop up which is how I even found these people, so I know I've seen others, but these ones were the most helpful for me!

@Lynna813 I've been wearing a pair of sketchers Bob shoes or lately a really comfortable pair of sandals that have arch support and an ankle strap so I'm more secure in them (they are also cute and neutral so they go with everything). Walking my dogs and regular life stuff is in a pair aveo flip flops
  • So excited to hear from you and that things are going well, @MamaBish!! Please share all your PP tips with us, haha! I know I can use them.
  • Congrats @MamaBish!!! She's absolutely adorable!

  • @MamaBish yayyyyy so happy to hear from you!!!! Savanna is so precious!!!! So happy for you

@TiffRox81 yessss I am afraid the classes will give me even more anxiety! I'm going to start watching those videos so that when we have our class next month it won't shock me so much. I feel so behind! We are doing an all day class 6/25 and I'm truly hoping I'm not cutting it close. Till then lots and lots of labor literature. I need to look at the good and the bad.

  • @MamaBish so glad you popped in!!! Savanna is beautiful!! My ankles were the same way with DS. My mom drug me to Macy's when he was in the NICU to get me away from the hospital for a bit and I tried to try in a pair of Steve Madden sandals and I couldn't even get them over my toes. I had a lovely breakdown right there in the store lol. About 10 days later I woke up, pulled the sheets off my legs and TA DA! Normal ankles and toes! I was beyond relived ;)

chels0120 ha! I tried on a pair of flip flops and they didn't fit; size 8 which is my size...I went home with a size 9 since I needed them badly. I almost had a mini breakdown myself. Thankfully the size 9 fits when my feet decide to blow up :)

Weville I am going to check those sketchers out! Which sandals do you find the most comfortable? Is there a specific brand? Thanks!!

Blurgh... pgal brain back in full force these past few days... I thought I would check in! It seems like I'm feeling a lot less movement than I did before. I called the nurse line and I know that this is probably normal because I'm almost at week 34 and baby has less space to wiggle. Also I've started doing kickcounts and I definitely get ten kicks (well, squirms) in less than a half hour. So basically I don't have a good reason to worry it seems, except for the broken record player in my pgal brain! Anyway, I'll keep kickcounting and I'm seeing the doc next week so I'll continue to hang tight. Hopefully I'll adjust to being reassured by these more subtle movements/squirms even I'm not being karate chopped anymore!

@Serpica Don't feel bad, I felt the same way over the weekend!! I was tempted to call too. Like you, I eventually got the movement I was looking for but it isn't hard to convince myself
it isn't enough. And some days the baby seems busier than others!! I think it's just so typical for our minds to think the worst, unfortunately. Creepy internet hugs to you! You're not alone!
  • @Serpica are they willing to let you come in for a quick US? My ob office said anytime I was nervous that they would let me come in to check at any time. I never needed to go but it was comforting to know I could.

I agree that being worried about movement happens. I actually went in for an emergency ultrasound last week. I didn't feel the baby all day. I drink juice, drank soda, shook my belly... Nothing. Not at all.  Finally, when I was waiting in the waiting room for the ultrasound, I got a little kick. It was probably from the liter of soda but baby was definitely having a slow day. It made me feel a lot better to go in and be reassured that everything was OK.  It hasn't happened since, but I also urge you to call if you need to go in.

@Serpica Pgal brain or not if you're nervous call. I find just talking with my doctor reassuring. Hope your feeling better!  The anxiety is no fun

Thank you everyone, great suggestions! I really appreciate the support...
  • @TiffRox81 I agree with ya! My MIL said to me, "you'll never stop worrying" and I'm like damn it. Cause that's all I do generally! Thank god for my husband who is always calm and keeps it together for me.

  • I'm with @megstervt, I have a feeling my anxieties aren't going to disappear after I'm holding my son in my arms. Maybe elements of them will but I can almost guarantee they will be replaced by worries about something else. I find meditation to be one of the best things I can do for my anxiety, especially when I'm worried about movement because he usually starts going crazy when I'm trying to empty my mind.
My guy plays WWE smackdown every night around 2am.  Bad for my insomnia, but reassuring to my brain

  • @Bostonbaby1 I joined you in the emergency ultrasound boat yesterday evening.  I hadn't felt LO move for over 12 hours even after a big glass of soda and lots of poking.  Doctor sent me to L+D to be checked.  Everything was fine!  Strong heartbeat, just a lazy day.  He didn't even really move when they were poking him with the ultrasound wand, just sort of half heartedly raised his arm.  My mom said he's already stubborn and independent like me.  I also found out I'm having contractions which I am not feeling at all which was interesting.  Doc said those are extremely normal at almost 31 weeks so no concern there either.  Not going to lie though, the 20minute drive to the hospital to be checked was some of the longest minutes of my life.
