Formula: Generic or Name Brand?

I use Similac Sensitive powder for LO, and those containers are $25 each at Wal-Mart ($30 each at my local drugstore) and we go through a container in about a week or so. Once LO starts eating more ounces , Im sure we will go through them even quicker. I picked up 2 more today and noticed the store brand version of similac sensitive was $13. Anyone know if store brand is just as good as the name brands? We arent going to go broke buying Similac or anything, but I dont want to be spending extra money if I dont need to be. Thanks!

I heard they are made by the same manufactures so why not. See how your LO reacts to it first

  • My DH worked construction during college and one of their jobs was at a similac factory. He told me that both were produced by the same lab and bottled at the factory. Try the generic. You could start introducing it slowly by mixing it with name brand and slowly weaning off the name brand. For half the price, it is definitely worth a shot!
  • No experience with it, but thought I'd throw out there that it's worth asking your pediatrician if they have any samples. I did the other day on a whim and they gave us 6 containers :O

The store brand sensitive is just as good. Same ingredients. My daughter was using the sensitive. I switched to the Kirkland brand with Her and it worked great. It wasn't sensitive but it was milk based and she did great on it. When we go to formula for this new guy I'll be going with Kirkland again.  Cost wise it's great. I want to say it's just under $20 for a can and its good size
