  • These stories are giving me all the warm fuzzies! And I need them too--I have been grouchy! I thank you, and my DH thanks you too. Haha.
  • @Piperella I love your dinosaur and pirate comment :) Also, I've been stalking 6 different parent/mom groups on FB for the past few months because we're house-hunting so I'm trying to learn about how kid-friendly areas are, info on schools, etc. But OMG the CRAZY IS OUT THERE EVERYWHERE!!!

    How far along are you?
    39 weeks, 3 days

    How are you feeling?
Impatient yet nervous about the impending labor and birth.  I'm going to try to avoid pain meds this time so I'm trying to prepare myself mentally for all of the unknowns. Physically, I'm holding up really well.  I have constant contractions every evening while walking but they always fizzle out when I get into bed...very frustrating!

Team green/pink/blue? What excites you most about your "team"?
Pink!!!  I can't wait for another daughter to dress up and play with.  My son is awesome and we are very similar but there's nothing like buying pink ballerina outfits for my little girl.  I feel so lucky to have one of each plus a bonus baby girl!

Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
I have an appointment Tuesday so the OB will strip my membranes and then schedule an induction for later in the week (hoping for Wednesday, May 18th which is my brother's birthday).  I also have my last weekly NST Tuesday night.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
I'm a tad anxious that I'm still not dilating past 1cm...I will be crushed if all of these contractions are for nothing.

GTKY: What was your first date with your DH/SO/DP? Did you know on that date that they were "the one"??
Our first date was on Thanksgiving night 2006.  We went to his house to watch a movie (World Trade Center?!?) and since it was an hours drive I ended up staying over.  We stayed up chastely talking and laughing until we both dozed off.  I had no idea at that point that we would end up together with three kids but I'm so glad it worked out!!

  • @gemini2005 wishing you all the luck for an easy labor and delivery! I can't believe it's time already :D. Keep us updated!!

@emsmama15 man you can not catch a break this pregnancy! I'm sorry you are sick!! Has your LO been having strep? What a bummer:(
  • @emsmama15, try a fiber supplement for the constipation. It has kept my system working through this pregnancy. And I'm taking iron.

  • @createillumination - no, thank goodness, she hasn't had strep.  I had her tested because she was sick around when I had it last (in first tri), but it was negative.  I have no idea where it's coming from.  My friend (and also a NP) suggested I look into having my hubby and/or dog tested as a carrier.  I remember my sister's dog ended up being a carrier when my nephew was little and had recurrent strep.  Who the heck knows.

@CarrieandRoy - can you recommend your fiber supplement?  This truly is the old lady pregnant board when I'm asking for a fiber supplement recommendation!!   Just kidding.  :)

@emsmama15 vitafusion fiber well gummies. They're soft and so tasty! I bought Phillips Fiber Good when they ran out because I was at a different store. They are hard, not tasty, and less effective for me. (Edited because I wrote the wrong brand of the one I just bought.)

  • I just realized I missed the whole weekly check-in last week.  I read through it and want to congratulate @Sporty1216 on her good news!

And I saw that chloe97 introduced herself.  I'm familiar with her from the PGAL board and thought I'd update you on her situation.  Her first cell-free dna test gave no results and she was concerned about potential chromosomal abnormalities.  She let us know on PGAL that it turned out to be triploidy and she's getting a d&c. Her pregnancy started out with extremely low hcg increases and the dr didn't think the pregnancy would be viable, then declared that everything was fine, so it was a rollercoaster for her the whole way.

The wife of a good friend of mine had to have a d&c last week, as well. They found out it was a MMC at 12 weeks when they were going in to have the genetic testing done. Seeing other people go through losses gives me some survivor's guilt now. I commiserated with so many people that had losses while I was trying to get--and stay--pregnant and now it feels different. I'm still one of them, having had losses, but I'm going to have a baby in 10 weeks. It's so much easier to say "I know what you're feeling" when you're not simultaneously feeling a baby kick. It's almost like consoling a friend after a break-up while holding your husband's hand. It feels inappropriate and insensitive.

  • @CarrieandRoy, though I've never had a loss, I can relate to the survivor's guilt because I feel the same way regarding people going through infertility.  I was sitting in a meeting with two work friends who have consults coming up at my RE's office and one of my babies kicked really hard and the person next to me saw it.  I was trying not to draw attention to it because I didn't want to be insensitive.  So, I totally get it.  But, on the other hand, we're in a unique position to offer both support AND hope for those going through what we've already been through, don't you think?
