Thanks ladies! As much as I am dreading her going through that I also kind of want it to be over so I don't want to wait another few months even though I know it's very possible that it will take that long. At least I know it is possible that it can be just around the corner
Hi ladies! Any input on average time teething takes, or does it vary a lot? (I saw one person on this thread mention a month, others sooner.) Just curious. Our doctor mentioned she had started teething about two weeks ago and things have really kicked up a notch in terms of her discomfort the last couple of days (especially at night! Ugh!) He recommended doing 5 days on with Tylenol, 1 day off, so we've been doing that just at night (with teething tablets during the day, if needed.) I'm just hating seeing my little one in pain and hoping that if we're two weeks in we'll have a tooth pop through soon!
My babies tend to get their first two bottom teeth at 4 months and then it's nonstop teething until 18 months. DS had 10 teeth by the time he was a year old and DD seems to be following in his footsteps.
Similar situation as @nackie, started teething at 4 months but showed 2 teeth at the 5 month mark! She's currently getting her top teeth in. I'm doing the teething tablets. She usually gets them in the morning and before bed as needed.
LOs bottom 2 teeth took about a month and some days I didn't even notice he was teething! His top left took about a week and now he has one of his incisors coming through and that was about 2 rough days and now he's back to normal! He's 6 months so we've been alternating motrin and Tylenol on the really bad days. We also like to wet a wash cloth and put it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes and let him chew on that.
My LO was drooling nonstop and cranky for about a month before any teeth came through. Once they came all the way through (he got the bottom two pretty much at the same time) he's been MUCH happier! Not looking forward to the next ones..
Has anyone found different teeth to be easier/harder? Babe has his bottom two front teeth...the first he was miserable for no apparent reason (couldn't see or feel any teeth just slightly swollen gums that had looked that way for a while) and then the next day as the misery continued I could see his gum splitting. It was a week of fussiness and no sleep until it was totally through and then a week break before the next one which was the same story. We had another week break and then the last two weeks he's been increasingly miserable but again no concrete sight or feel of any more coming...I wondered if maybe the top front ones are more of a bear coming through?
My little guy just got his right incisor and that one seemed to be the worst so far. Lots of fussiness and frequent waking at night for about 3 days. The bottom two were bad, but nothing a teething toy/cold washcloth couldn't fix. I'm ready to get a little break from the teething!!
No teeth here yet! She's been a mess today though so I wouldn't be surprised if a tooth shows up tomorrow or sometime soon. So much teething. Poor girl!
I'm way late to this thread, but we finally have our first tooth! It's on the top! I hadn't even been checking there (not that DD lets me really check.) Anyone else have a top tooth first? DD will be 7 months on Saturday.
We have no teeth and he will be 8 months next week. Argh!!! At his 6 month appointment, the Pedi. checked in his mouth and said, I bet you are still 2-3 weeks out for anything just yet. How about months...lady, not weeks, but months at this point.

I would consider that a blessing! I don't look forward to breastfeeding with teeth and also think my toothless LO looks downright adorable. I would be stoked if she doesn't get teeth until 8+ months!
@l4rk Yea, if I were breastfeeding the teeth issue would worry me a bit, lol. It has been hell in my house though for the last few weeks. He's been "teething" since about 6 months. Drooling, gnawing on things, but lately he's kicked up the crankiness a notch and has been a basket case during nap times. At this rate, I just want 5-6 to pop through those gums and move on with the show. I am so over, the teething phase. I'd rather wake up 2-3 times a night and do a feeding, then have him cranky and miserable all day long. I want my happy baby back.
@teachmegs817; lol about the pedi getting the teething wrong! We were told at DS's 4 month check up it "could be any time now because he's definitely teething!" Ha. Hahaha. No. Zero teeth right now at 6.5 months. If I had a dollar for every time someone said, "He's teething. I KNOW it!" we'd have enough money for his college education already.
Yeah, no teeth here either. She was drooling like CRAZY for a while, obviously in pain (would put her hand in her mouth and cry), chomping on anything and everything...and then it's just kind of died down? Our pedi said an ebb and flow is normal with teething, but I was really hoping we'd get at least one for all that trouble! Haha.
DS got his first tooth a few weeks back. So far, he's only bitten me once. I screamed and scared him and then he started wailing. It was not our finest moment. Hopefully it doesn't happen again anytime soon.
