My doula quit on us, so now I have to decide if it's worth trying to find another locally with availability on our due date. One of the things I loved about *this* doula was she is from our (very small, very rural) town, so was willing to meet us at our house, and follow us to the hospital - a little over an hour away with large bits of no cell service. She said she is having health issues and won't be taking any clients for awhile, so it was nothing against us - just bad timing.
Then our hospital called and the childbirth education class we signed up for was cancelled, and the other one was full- we could wait until July though???... Or not. I would be like 37 weeks!! So we have to do a one day class instead of a two day class, which just seems like a lot. Again - an hour away and it starts at 8 am. And, it conflicted with the new dad class, so now DH is taking that on Saturday, so I have to cancel something else we had planned.
I'm done. I want a nap. And chocolate. And someone else to deal with logistics for awhile.
I haven't had a good nights sleep in I can't remember how long. I got DD down for her nap and fell asleep on the couch. 20 minutes later DD comes walking down the hallway crying just standing s few feet away from me. Now she's asleep on my lap and I just want to go back to sleep but can't.
My WTF goes to the birds who decided to make a nest right outside our bedroom window. 5 am chirping does not make me happy when I work so late some days! We don't even have landscaping yet, but I guess a rain gutter is the perfect place for a nest.

I'm on day three of a conference in Vegas and am SO ready to go home. My flight gets in at midnight tonight so tomorrow is going to be rough. So over talking to people and being dressed up.
I did just eat a slice of pizza the size of my head so that helped a bit.
I'm exhausted. Got rear ended yesterday with both my kids in the car. 45 minutes later the cops finally came, only to do absolutely nothing. Then I went about my evening with the kids, until I had been told that being pregnant, I should be seen no matter how minor the accident. Called the on call ob who told me to go in. Spent 2 hours in the ER, and finally got home after 11 pm. Then got up and went to work this morning. After work had to call and file a claim with our insurance company since my ER visit was from an accident. Shpuld be fun dealing with all that for a while. Not the best day, but me, baby and my kids are ok, and it could have been worse. Hoping the rest of my week improves!
@allisun85 that must be really stressful! I hope you find a new doula soon!
My complaint is that now that we've had to take away DS's pacifier, bedtime is a nightmare! He used to be so happy to go into his crib, because it was the only time he got it, but now he throws a fit. He also wakes up 30-45 min earlier because he doesn't have his pacifier to, well, pacify him. I think I miss it just as much as he does!
@Bookhousegirl ... it won't last forever! My kids were pretty attached to their pacis too, more my daughter, but after a week or so it was like pacifiers never even existed. Good luck!

edit: words are hard.
Ugh, three days in Vegas is my max even when I'm not pregnant (and boozing) and there for fun. Being sober and having to be "on" all the time for work stuff sounds particularly draining.
@bookhousegirl I am so scared to take DDs paci away. I'm hoping she just puts it down one day and is done like some kids. I'm not sure whether I should take it before this LO gets here because I know that she will probably get a little jealous and try to go back to some "baby" ways(i.e. Wants a bottle/paci). She's only 18 months so I'm not in a big rush yet but I want her to be done with it around 2 years.
WTF. Was told today that all employees are expected to work 24 hrs of overtime over 6 days coming up later this month for a special project. I'll be working 8am to 9pm on those 6 days. great news (not) = I'm a salaried employee.
I just just want to whine about this more.

Apparently my current health insurance doesn't cover a breast pump. WHAT?!? It's actually really good insurance in most cases. They said it's a "grandfathered" plan, and isn't required to cover this expense or adhere to other new health insurance regulations.
@Lynnlove28 yeah, we had originally said at 2 we would take it away, but ended up letting him have it for sleeping for the last 2 months (since he turned two). It has worked really well, but since he knocked out his front tooth, the dentist said he shouldn't use it for the next 2-3 weeks. We figure we'll just take this opportunity to take it away for good. I'll let you know when it gets better! I feel like each night has been a small improvement, which gives me hope.
Cute WTF is when DH and I were talking to our baby at the dining table, our furbaby who was sleeping on the couch immediately woke up, jumped off, and came over asking for a good belly rub. Maybe it was our tone of voice we had but he definitely wanted some TLC all of the sudden.
Serious WTF: CareFirst billed me for a non-routine radiology service for my 20th week anatomy scan appt. I called and verified this did not fall under the routine visit hence why I have to pay my deductible. On top of that, because it was done at an imaging center at a hospital, I have $600 to pay out of my deductible for "facility fees." When I challenged why my anatomy scan was not routine, rep said this procedure code was more than the routine and usually it could be because MD finds something else in addition to the anatomy scan. I was told to question the imaging center but guess what?
Imaging center said they've been having issues with CareFirst only and was told by CareFirst to bill anatomy scans under this specific code (76811) as routine anatomy scan. WTF? They told me to call CareFirst and I almost lost it. I said, "CareFirst told me to call you guys."
Maybe because I'm in the healthcare mgmt industry but I couldn't tolerate being pushed around like this. CareFirst and imaging center, you all better figure this shit out yourselves and not put the patients in the middle.
Imaging center said their billing mgr won't be in until Thursday so I have to deal with stupid tomorrow. Until they sort this out though, I'm not paying a cent.
Oh and to continue on...I switched jobs in October and learned our open enrollment for insurance starts in June meaning, I would not have met my deductible amt. this time and once the plan restarts June 1, my deductible resets. Luckily I'm just joining DH plan since his company has better rates but that was just totally WTF. My current deductible is $2,000 and I met maybe $700 (+$800 if they make me pay for my anatomy scan and facility fee) only to restart in June. Nope, don't fking think so. Negative.

I didn't think this was allowed under the new regulations. That's seriously messed up that they do this

Omg! We have this same problem. Stupid spring time lol.
WTF horrible migraine! I woke up at 8:30am and it literally felt like someone had been hitting me in the back of my head. Of course I delayed taking a Tylenol but was finally able to take a nap and it has subsided but I feel as if it is lurking
@bookhousegirl and @lynnlove28 the pacifier is a real battle for us too. She is 2.5 and has no intention of giving it up. It may take some tough love for her to get rid of it before August and I'm just not sure I'm up for the battle. I wish she would just set it down and be done but that clearly isn't happening.
@AliKay20 I had my anatomy scan done at my OBs office and when I went to leave they told me I owed 40% of the cost of the anatomy scan because they don't include it in the billing plan as routine they only count the 8 week scan. When I asked her about it she told me I must not have listened to their billing specialist when she explained everything to me. I know for a fact it was included in routine care when I had DD through the same office 2 years ago. That was the final straw for me and I switched OBs which I should've done from the start. Hopefully you get it figured out and don't have to pay!
