Here are some inspirations-- I'm going to be doing a mish-mash of sorts. Neutral wall color, pops of color with artwork and a rug. I've picked out a bunch of different fitted sheets, I'd like to switch those up frequently (I mean I'm going to be changing them anyhow).
There are too many themes I'm in love with! Including but not limited to: dusty rose and champagne and super feminine for a girl, space/Star Wars theme for a boy or girl, nautical + sea creatures for a boy, maps/world travel for girl or boy, vintage Winnie the Pooh for girl or boy, ugh, there's so many more. Good thing I still have like 4 months before I need to make any real decisions!
We are apparently doing ours in a Oval Office/Presidential theme.
My mother and my husband both had totally different views on how the nursery should be and basically I decided I was letting them hash it out. So they finally came up with that idea which I decided I loved and they could both get excited about creating. There will be an oval crib (which I've always loved regardless of practicalities) and there will be cartoon pictures of presidents. My mom is having a custom rug made and stickers made to put on the diaper bag and whatnot. My dad is tasked with creating book shelves for the corners of the room to make it round. My BIL bought a toy eagle for the room already and it's so adorable! And best of all, IMO, is I get to refer to my baby (regardless of sex/gender) as the President. Can you just imagine the middle of the nights? "Mr./Ms. President, I know you are hungry, but it's 3am!"
--I would like to clarify that my mom having an opinion on my nursery isn't an overreach. She just loves the layouts in the Restoration Hardware catalogs and we have both always said I would have a very lovely, catalog-esque nursery because that's just my style. I'm quite happy to put those two in charge of the room and stay out of it.
I have a pink, gray, and white Paris themed room for my DD right now. If it's another girl, it'll be the same bc baby will be in our room for a while, then we'll just move to DD's room.
If it's a boy, we'll do a vintage baseball theme. My husband is a baseball fanatic.

Nurseries are really hard for me. I know it won't be technically used for a few months anyway... But I also dislike a lot of matchy matchy crib beddings and curtains and things. I don't know if a theme will grow on me or if we'll just go with pieces that flow together.
We're going with a nature theme (for our little girl)--green rug that looks a bit like grass, faux-stone pillows and matching smaller rug, mini-teepee, some animal pictures on the walls (one from a zoo, a few others painted by a family member), and a tree design curtain with floral cutout sheers (the light comes through in really nice shapes). It's not exactly high-fashion design, but we like it because it's full of color while also very calming.
Also, we're still undecided regarding whether to do a crib or a floor bed (montessori style). Not sure if anyone else has done the montessori floor bed?
We did vintage music themed for DS, but we eventually turned his nursery into a play room and moved his crib into our room as a side car. It's still like that and he is 17 months. I'm not even thinking about a nursery for this baby because they will be in our room for at least the first year (breastfeeding TTN + working FT + room sharing = the only way I survived). We'll be moving June next year, so I'll think about rooms for the kids then.

My sister painted a baseball wall for my son and it was mostly just whites/grays and navy accents, it wasn't too themey...this time around the baby will be in our room again for a while (DS was with us for 8 months) and after that no matter if it's a boy or girl they will be sharing a room, so a girl will just get some girlies bedding but will have to deal with the baseball wall

I really love these! I'm not that great at decorating in themes and I like how these are just pieces that go together.
DD and this LO will be sharing a room. The room is already pretty ender neutral, with green walls and a forest animal mural. Only thing I'll change is the paint some of the purple leaves blue since we're having a boy. His bedding will likely be deer and foxes.

Im doing neutral, will be same whether boy or girl. Not too themey but im basing the wall decor around moomintrolls - google if you dont know them, finnish book characters (little white trolls) - and adding some cute viking ship elements like a mobile (my moms family is Norwegian) i love Scandinavian design.
I am still so in love with my daughters nursery even 2+years later. The plan was to paint the walls in a color that could easily convert to a boy if needed (and it is needed) by changing the accents to elephants and grey chevrons. Now that its a reality I am having trouble letting go. It's my favorite room in my house.
I'm super boring I guess. I'll just buy some crib sheets and hang up some pictures of the family. No theme here lol. My take is that my kid is going to spit up on everything and what she doesn't vomit on will likely get pooped on at some point. I guess as long as it's easy to clean or can be changed quickly is all I need. But I love all these ideas. I'm partial to the Disney ones.
We're doing soft pink flamingos for a girl and woodland creatures for a boy.
I was at Cracker Barrell this morning and saw this section and remembered that someone had posted about a flamingo nursery and had to take a picture. I'm such a nerd.

This. Is. Awesome! You HAVE to post pictures when it's done!
OMG @elsie2014! There's a Cracker Barrel about 20 minutes from us. I've never been there! I should hit it up next time I'm going that way.
Um YES you should. Not only to see if they have cute flamingo stuff for your nursery. But also to get delicious southern breakfast at any time of day you want. Love Cracker Barrel!

I'm having a super hard time deciding on a theme. I want to pick soon, because I want to sew the crib sheets and curtains myself since that gives me a lot more options. Right now I'm between: -pirates -sheep and stars/constellations -underwater -camping / northern california
H is no help because he likes them all, plus wants to throw in "zombie woodland animals" and "robotic dinosaurs" for consideration. Lucky for me, I can't find fabric with either of those patterns.
@CecilTheBear really? They don't make a zombie woodland animals print? Some craft store that is. Haha. I am partial to pirates. But that's me. Sheep are cute too!
