Best baby apps

STMs was there a baby app that you really liked for keeping track of pregnancy, feedings, naps, and meds?

Also any other neat apps out there that you are using for this pregnancy? Besides the bump of course ;)

Re: Best baby apps

  • I'm a FTM but I like Ovia for keeping track of pregnancy. It has a feature that shows you how big your baby's hand is each week and I love watching it grow! That's my favorite part of the app.
  • Loading the player...
  • I used iBabyLog

At first we used a notepad to track feedings and diaper changes (I was EPing the first few weeks and we were giving bottles so this was the easiest way for DH and me to both keep track in one place since we were taking turns feeding him).  But then I switched to this app when it was mostly me doing everything.  I used the sleep tracker portion of it until well past his 1st birthday.  It helped me see when he was headed for 1 nap instead of 2.
  • I also use Ovia. It has a lot of really cool features, but it's not perfect. BabyCenter also has a pretty cool app. I like the idea of TB app, but I have way too many problems with it crashing, so I uninstalled.

  • I was looking at the app mammababy. (Middle of the night pregnancy insomnia sucks). I was thinking it looked awesome for keeping track of which breast baby last fed on. It also has a place to put in growth stats. I thought that would be cool to have and transfer to the baby book. It also apparently sinks between multiple devices, so DH can see how our day went. It doesn't say how much the app is though which is weird.

  • I have the baby nursing app. I'm sure there are cooler ones out there but this fit my needs exactly. It tracks a bunch of stuff (diaper changes, baths, measurements, dr visits, etc) but I just used it for nursing and pumping.

  • I wasn't super super organized or anal with it, but I used the medela app to track feedings for a few months.  It helped with the right boob/left boob thing.  I never tracked the amount of milk I pumped or diapers or anything like that.

I used Sprout Baby a lot with DS to keep track of feedings and growth. Will probably use it again with LO

I used the Medela app to track feedings (right vs left and time on each), as well as pumping output. The hospital gave us a piece of paper to track feedings and diapering, which we used for about a week, and then didn't track diapers anymore.

    Just keep swimming.
  • We were never good about using a tracker, I tried like 3 or 4 different ones at first, but didn't really like any of them. I ended up using a Bobby pin on my bra strap to track right boob/left boob feedings, and just took note if there was a lack of pee/poop diapers. I tend to get a little obsessive with apps like that, so it was better for me to be more flexible, and not write down every little thing. If DS had any eating or digestive issues, I probably would have used one more consistently.

  • I tried so many tracker apps and loved Sprout the best.  To me, it's the most organized and easiest to navigate.  Sprout has both a pregnancy and baby app -- I love them both!  Still use the baby app to track DD's medications, weight/height gain, vaccinations.

  • I use Ovia as well. I like watching the hand grow too!
  • Thanks for all the great suggestions! I think I'm going to check out a few today while laying around in bed.

  • STM's--Did any of you use an app for contractions? I was a week overdue with my first and had to be induced, but I keep reading birth stories and a lot of them talk about tracking contractions with an app.

Oh yes this too! Good question!

  • I ended up being induced after over a week late, too, but I used the Sprout Pregnancy counter to track what I thought were contractions.  I think most of the pregnancy apps have a contraction tracker.

A baby app you absolutely want is the Wonder Weeks app. There are ten mental/developmental leaps that happen based on due date, not birth date, and this app gives you info on them as well as keeps track of where your baby is on the timeline.

This app will keep your head in the game when you think your kid had become possessed.

  • @JLyn821 I just got that book. Did you just use the app or had you read the book too? I'm wondering if one is better/more useful than the other.

  • Yes, the Wonder Weeks app is great! I didn't read the book; only read the app info.

I had an app that could track contractions, but I ended up not needing it because my water broke and everything happened quickly after that. I don't even think I could have handled using the app myself (too distracting!), but maybe DH could have. I like the Baby Bump app for the kick counter.

I only used the app. It tells you everything you need to know. I can't recommend it enough!
