There is a tooth making an appearance. Do those teething tablets work? I had to give Tylenol and the orajel that is "homeopathic" last night. Does anyone use the original orajel?
Everything I've read and the doctor have said not to use orajel for different reasons. The doctor said that too much will numb his throat and cause him to choke while eating and other documents have said there is an ingredient in it that isn't safe. We are just using Tylenol and distraction to help him (he is on his second set now). I've never seen a baby choke from having orajel and I've almost broken down a couple of times and slathered his gums, but we will endure. Good luck!
I have heard the same thing as the PP regarding Orajel.
However, I also read you can massage their gums with a teeny-tiny bit of natural toothpaste containing xylitol and that apparently can help with the pain... (We have the Tom's of Maine kid's stuff.) LO hasn't sprouted a tooth yet, but it seems to be helping the early discomfort at bedtime.
Ok sounds good! I will ask the Dr today about the homeopathic orajel as she has her 4 month check up. It seems to numb slightly but doesn't have the same active numbing agent as the original. I just let her chew on my hand mainly, and in the height of the before bed fussiness I gave her a breast milk "Popsicle" and this seemed to help/distract
I found really that Motrin is the only thing that helps at night, and distraction during the day. She has two teeth and it appears we are working on a third
Our ped said hylands teething tablets are fine. DSs first tooth hasn't broke through yet but he's working on it. Also a breast milk ice cube in one of those mesh feeders is fun and helps.
