Had to rock my new maternity jeans today. And I may never go back to normal jeans again! So comfy! Lol I feel so big already and just about 4 months. Oy.

Feeling strong at 31 weeks! Baby Amy is moving around a lot and I am starting to have many 3rd tri symptoms... especially pain in and around my ribs. So much fun! 9 weeks (or so to go!)

I really grew from last week to this week. Wondering how their growth is -- ultrasound for growth and baby boy's echo tomorrow.

My babies are giants!!  Holy moly.  At this point, my single girl was in the 50th percentile and was born at 8 lbs 1 oz.  My twin girl is 71st percentile (1 lb, 7 oz) and my twin boy is 91st percentile (1 lb, 10 oz).  As the tech said, they don't know they're twins.  Their heads are each almost 2 weeks ahead.  Yikes.  I asked the perinatologist if they could be born early because they simply run out of room.  He said the placenta decides when they are born, so if the placenta runs out of juice from supporting my mammoth children, they could be born early.  And that 90% of twins are born between 35-37 weeks.  I told him my goal was 37 weeks (and no NICU time) and he said my beautiful and healthy babies seem very happy and content in my uterus - as evidenced by their growth - so he thought that was attainable.  I said, what about my scheduled c-section at 38w1d?  He said "maybe."  Not very believable....

And everything looked good.  They were able to get all the images they couldn't get last time and baby boy's heart looked completely normal.  The perinatologist on today was the same one I had with my daughter and is my favorite in the group, so it was nice to see him.

@emsmama15 that's interesting about the placenta deciding when they are born. Do you know if that is true for all pregnancies or just twins?

@CarrieandRoy - that's what he was saying - the placenta is kind of in charge of things, I guess.  I'd never heard this before, it was kind of interesting.  He was saying that with twins, the placenta ages faster and that a 38 week twin placenta is about equivalent to a 41 week singleton placenta.  I didn't ask, but I'm curious why it ages faster in twins - especially if you have two placentas, like I do.

Yeah, I could see how one placenta feeding two babies could get depleted faster, but two separate ones seem like they'd be fine.

I had been wondering what determines when a baby is born. I also can't wrap my head around how my body knows how to create a human being from scratch, with working organs and stuff.

I know this is super late but I've been so busy preparing for my upcoming show and missed the Wednesday post. We had our dress rehearsal on Saturday and I just had to share my "bump-in-a-tutu" photo. I'm going to be part of a flock of dancing flamingos. I was 26 weeks and 2 days when this was taken. It's going to be pretty hilarious, I must say.
