  • @Lynnlove28 we would get along great! You eat the cake and I will eat the frosting!  :) Dh has caught me a few times with a spoon in the frosting container lol.
  • At Motherhood Maternity, they put a cupcake recipe book in my bag from family circle. It's a whole magazine of cake...

I kinda hated them a little for it. But also, now I want cake.

  • @AliKay20 lol! I could see my DH doing the same thing! I'm waiting for him to slip up, especially since he is the one who wants to keep it a secret. I secretly hope he lets it slip so I can start hanging clothes in the closet. :)

  • I just had my weekly fetal ECHO and baby kept punching the U/S probe.  It was funny to watch and actually see what I was feeling.  It made me laugh - which I'm sure only made it more difficult for the tech.   :D
  • I went to a yard sale on my lunch break today and got super amazing deals on baby stuff and maternity clothes! I also made a spreadsheet/map of all the sales around me this weekend...I cannot wait!
  • @jamiesc58 yes, icing is definitely the best part! I have been known to go through 3-4 cupcakes, without even touching the cake.

  • We bought our first nursery furniture piece last night---a dutailier glider off craigslist--score!  It's making me feel a bit better that we'll have done what we want to have done before the baby is arrives. After sitting in it DH couldn't stop talking about how awesome it is ---I don't know if he's ever used a glider before--and he'd like to sleep in it--I told him just wait, he will soon enough!

  • Can someone explain what a bh or rlp feels like? I have been having pains in my side for a few days. It feels like it's an organ kinda pain but I'm clueless. Tmi I though maybe it was a constipation thing but nope. Thanks ladies.
  • This week I completely cleaned out and reorganized my entire kitchen. It was a nightmare after having a wall put up and not cleaning very well for months. I got super lazy this pregnancy and the construction didn't help lol. But my in laws have been over all week doing tons of yard work, insisting I shouldn't do much since I'm pregnant; )I'll take it while I can!
And keeping baby's name a secret is SO HARD! I hate not being able to call him by name, ever, because  if I do it will become habit and I know I'll slip
  • I am feeling emotional today and bitter towards people. I have no rhyme or reason why at all. It is beautiful outside, it's Friday, work isn't crazy...but I just can't seem to shake it.
  • pregnancy brain is on full effect for me, i took one of the storage room keys home and this morning i forgot them at home TGIF and my dad is bringing them to me :) keep forgetting things like crazy
  • @jamiesc58 oh man, I'm right there with you. I will catch an attitude over nothing at the drop of a hat. Poor DH is normally the victim, I feel bad but I can't seem to get this crap under control.

FTM, but in my experience, RLP is usually a shooting pain after movement (rolling over in bed, standing up too fast, etc.) Sometimes it goes away right away, sometimes it lasts a little while, but not longer than 30 secs-minute. Braxton-hicks is more of a tightening--for me, BH doesn't hurt, it just feels strange and if you touch your abdomen, it feels pretty hard, and then the contraction passes and it relaxes again.

I've also had some pain from skin/muscles/ligaments stretching to accommodate the bigger uterus--that sometimes feels like your skin is going to split open. Not super painful, but uncomfortable.

Back or hip pain is also not uncommon, and I've had the occasional cramp as well.

    The joys of pregnancy!

  • @michelle_shelle here is a quick read about rlp that completely explains it.

  • @jamiesc58 Thanks for that link! That's what I've been having the past week in bed at night. I thought it was general muscle cramps. It's exactly as the article described.

DH and I decided not to do much of a garden this year.  Part of me feels kinda lazy and really sad because I love having fresh veggies and herbs, but the other part of me is super relieved.  DH has been picking up a lot of slack so I know when he suggested it it's because he's feeling a bit overwhelmed.  We'll just have to hit up the local farmers markets a lot more to supplement, but I may still try and sneak in a basil plant just because I haven't had any luck getting those darn things to grow properly over the years, so it will be my own little pet project.

I also have trouble with basil! DH and I are moving from a condo to a house, so this is our first chance to really have a garden. not sure how much I will do with baby on the way, but hopefully can at least get some herbs going.

  • My little brother is a senior in high school and tonight is his prom. He's the youngest of me and my three siblings so it's kind of sad for the last one of us to start hitting these milestones like senior year and prom and soon graduation. I'm going over later to take pictures of him and his date. It's so exciting but sad too.

I just want to say that I love our August 16 board and the ladies on it! I have been having the crappiest day and customers are NOT helping at all. I jump on here for a little bit and read posts and I smile, even laugh out loud, and it makes the day a little better! Thanks ladies!!!
I feel the same way! This has been the longest week and this board brings a nice break from the chaos
  • @Lynnlove28 I have a younger brother who is 8 yrs younger than me and it's always bittersweet when he hits big milestones. We'll be going to his college graduation next weekend and I still can't believe he's hitting adulthood! My older brother and I are only 20mnths apart so he's always been the baby and now he's going to be wearing a suit everyday :(

  • Fk you leg cramps!!!  :s
  • @lucypod, we also decided against a garden this year partly due to mosquito exposure. I would tend to have 20-30 mosquito bites each time I would weed. :-/
  • Usually you get one plated dinner at a wedding. I didn't think to connect that my choice of beef for dinner meant steak so when I got it initially, it was so rare I couldn't bare to eat after the first bite. I did eat everything else though- asparagus and quinoa. DH requested to reheat my steak some more but ten minutes later, they swapped my plate of steak with another full set of the meal.

Needless to say, I was stuffed literally eating for two. #pregnancyftw

So yesterday I was "that girl" and I'm seriously side-eyeing myself.
I'm a FTM and couldn't really decide if I'm on the celebrate because you are making a baby or waiting until baby is here train. DH is usually always really good about making me feel special on holidays so while I really did not expect a gift or anything, I really thought he would at least say "Happy Mom to be" or something to that effect. He asked to hang out with friends last night and I said it was fine. He comes home and I hear paper rustling and I think to myself "aw he got me flowers!" No. It was his take away bag. He never said a word. I literally went into my bathroom and cried after he went to sleep and threw myself a pity party. Now I feel like I am irrationally mad at him and feel like I need to just let it go. Pregnancy. Hormones.

  • @Hannah0726 I think it's ok to be disappointed. I consider myself to be a mom in the sense that I am taking care of myself and my choices directly affect my child. I can also see why he wouldn't remember or acknowledge it this year. Now if he forgets next year...that's a different story!
