    Week: 13

What's new with baby (size, development): According to TB, baby is as big a lemon (!!!), is forming vocal chords and teeth, has fingerprints, and intestines are moving to their permanent place in their tummy.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: stocking up on diapers and wipes.  H and FIL are going to start on the nursery later this month. We're replacing the chair rail in the nursery and taking off the closet doors before we start painting.  We won't paint until we know the sex in about 7 weeks.

Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: Still having indigestion and acid reflux at night, more emotional, and I'm not sleeping well at all. Also started noticing a linea nigra line from my belly button to my pubic bone.  Its very light but definitely there.

When is your next appointment: 5/25, just a monthly check up, no u/s.

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it? Other than the usual "Babe and baby" H calls me 'babydoll'.  We also have 'poop' nicknames for each other and our pets.  I don't know how it started.  Our dog is "Poop dog" or "poop boy", our cat is "Poop cat" or "poop girl".  Together they're "the poops", which I'm sure sounds weird to outsiders; "Hey did you feed the poops?" lol.  We call each other "poopy".  H also calls me "boss".

  • Week: 12!

What's new with baby (size, development): Size of a plum/ripe apricot/toy soldier

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: We told MIL and SIL this weekend and it was so good to finally share our news. We're telling my family when we see them on Friday!

Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: Rave: I finally feel like myself again this morning. I feel normal (other than having to unbutton my pants when I sit down), I'm eating normally and I'm craving healthy foods again. Rant: Allergies are the worst. Pollen is my nightmare right now.

When is your next appointment: Thursday! Hopefully getting back the results of my NIPT then also.

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it? We don't really have any other than the standard "babe" and "baby."
  • Week: 13. So long, first trimester! You won't be missed.

What's new with baby (size, development): Got ourselves a little lemon baby this week. Bones are forming, and he/she can stick his/her thumb in his/her mouth! (I'm really looking forward to finding out which pronoun I can use... 7ish more weeks?)

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Yesterday I started reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. It's pretty outrageously hippie at times, but I think it will be helpful nonetheless. I've also started doing research on and making a mental checklist of what we want/need to buy for baby.

Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: Nausea still hasn't totally subsided, unfortunately; I'm still throwing up usually at least once a day, especially when I wake up with migraines (which is most days). I feel like I've finally gotten into a good rhythm of dealing with it though, so my life doesn't feel quite as constricted as it did a few weeks ago. Also, my food aversions are lightening up, which is great news, because I love food!! The new challenge within the past couple weeks has been dealing with my emotions--oh lord, so many emotions.
Tomorrow through Sunday H and I are going on a little road trip, mainly for his half sister's wedding, but also so that we can see a bunch of friends and family spread out through Kentucky, South Carolina, and Georgia. I'm looking forward to it, but there's only one day in the whole trip that won't involve driving at least five hours. I've never really dealt with car sickness, but I am kind of nervous about all the driving while still fighting the last of my first trimester symptoms. (I also tend to get kind of grumpy on long car rides--and that's without pregnancy hormones.) Here goes nothing!

When is your next appointment: Tomorrow morning, just for a quick check-up.

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it? We're not particularly cutesy with one another, so we mostly just stick with "babe," though he frequently calls me "pretty girl" and I occasionally call him "love" or "my love." He also sometimes jokingly calls me his "little chili," which came about when we were dating and came up with the Halloween costume idea of dressing up in a chili pepper suit and wearing a light cardigan, so that when people asked I could say "I'm a little chili/chilly." (I live for stupid puns.) Super random and dumb, I know, but somehow it stuck. :p
  • Week: 13!

What's new with baby (size, development): Baby's about 3 inches long. Fingerprints. I can palpate my fundus! That sounds horrible, but it's true - the top of my uterus is palpable above my pubic bone.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Oh nothing new, really.

Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: I want a new family doctor. Now. Ours is constantly overbooked. He 'fits in' walk-ins between booked appointments, but ends up pushing back booked appointments to the point that every single visit is a two hour wait. It's pointless to book an appointment with him, so I just go to walk-in clinics for my care. I have severe asthma, I can't run out of my medications. But it took them five days to respond to a request for refills. I won't see my OB until 20w so I'm getting crappy prenatal care for now.

When is your next appointment: I have my anatomy scan June 20th, and see my OB for the first time June 24th.

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it? We have no nicknames. We'll call each other 'love' or 'hon' but that's pretty much it. We just use our names.

What's new with baby (size, development): plum!!!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Nothing new really. About to go through all old maternity clothes and see what still fits and what i need.

Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: nothing new.  Still having mild nausea if I don't eat every 2 hours.

When is your next appointment: Had my NT scan last week. Have another OB appt this week and then will THANKFULLY move to monthly appointments.

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it? Nothing really besides the generic babe and baby.

    Week:
10! Finally double digits and quarter way there

What's new with baby (size, development):
Size of a Lego man or a kumquat

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
I bought my husband some lockers for the basement that way he can start cleaning out our 3rd bedroom that is currently used as his 'catch-all' room. I can't wait to get it all cleaned out!

    Rant/rave/symptoms/questions:
Well, I ended up telling my boss today, a lot earlier than I had been planning. I was so dizzy at work this morning it was making me sick! I decided to leave at lunch time since I was feeling so bad I couldn't concentrate on my work. I decided to just tell him why I was leaving early and It went really well, he seemed really excited! He even game me a high five

    When is your next appointment:
5/12 It will be my first with my midwife. I'm really excited and I'm gonna try to convince her to do a bedside U/S. DH keeps saying it's twins so he's got me worried about it. I want to make sure there is only 1 in there!

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it?
We do the usual babe/baby. He likes to call me ma'am, which I love. I call him Brutus, it's an old nickname from HS that just stuck. I can't for the life of me remember how he got that for a NN though.
  • Week: 13!

What's new with baby (size, development): soooooooo happy to be out of 1st trimester! I just feel like its a huge stepping stone!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: we had a cookout yesterday to tell all of our friends. We will be telling my nana and MIL next weekend for mothers day. We've started clearing out the guest bedroom and plan to have all the carpets professionally cleaned in the next few weeks.

    Rant/rave/symptoms/questions:
The only symptoms I really seem to have left are headaches and terrible aversions. Its hard to eat anything lately.

    When is your next appointment:
Next Thursday. Fingers crossed for an ultrasound bc Im dying to see the little bugger again!

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it?
Nothing other than babe or sweetie from time to time. Were boring!

@ShallowSeas OMG I love the poop nicknames lol. We are very immature so constantly make poop jokes.

jrussell16 Congrats on telling your family! Hope your allergies lighten up soon, they are definitely the worst!

grannysmith912 I'm so sorry you are getting migraines. I swear one of the things I miss most is my Excedrin Migraine! And I totally agree about the pronouns thing. I will keep referring to my LO as a girl until I am told otherwise.

@KilgraveMadeMeDoIt Your doctor does walk-ins?! That seems strange, I don't think I've heard of that before, except with walk-in clinics. I have asthma too, has yours been getting worse since you got pregnant? I usually don't need daily meds, I just use my emergency inhaler occasionally but I feel so out of breath lately I have been thinking of going back on daily meds. Not sure if it's pregnancy related or just a coincidence

@kms456 Eating every 2 hours is such a pain! I feel huge already just because I'm eating so much.

    ETA
@honeybeewebb2424 Reading about your cookout made me hungry, and I just ate. Carpet cleaning sounds like a great idea!

@FiancB We share a state and a due date! Good luck on your presentation on Wednesday. Hopefully your little bean will behave enough for you to get through it! And your nickname story is really cute.

What's new with baby (size, development): Size of a strawberry or tetra fish or lego man or petit four

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Nothing really, school is more of a priority at the moment... then it'll be NCLEX... then it'll be job searching. So I'm kind of doing the bare minimum for a while. That's okay though because I went way overboard way too early the last time with reading info and starting a registry so other than going to appointments and taking PNVs and P4 I don't have much to do.

Rant/rave/symptoms/questions: I've just been feeling pretty sick. I have all-day presentations on Wednesday and our group will be one of the last to go, right about when I tend to start feeling sick. Greeaat. Will be bringing 12 pack of ginger ale.

When is your next appointment: I'll be getting blood drawn for genetic testing a week from Friday, then next OB appointment is two weeks after that.

GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it? My first name starts with a B, so he calls me B. That's where my sn comes from- when we got engaged we joked he was Fianc-A and I was Fianc-B.

It's weird, for sure. I'd not encountered it before I came here and it's a really annoying.

Yes, my asthma has gotten worse. It always does when I'm pregnant and it's horrid. This is the case for about 1/3 of asthmatics; 1/3 improve and 1/3 have no change. I'm being referred to respirology because I'm on pretty much the most aggressive therapy my family doctor is comfortable putting me on already but I'm still sucking down ventolin like it's the answer to everlasting life.

@KilgraveMadeMeDoIt Glad to know I'm not just imagining this pregnancy is making my asthma worse! I don't remember it being a problem last time, but that was also over 10 years ago so I don't remember a lot from my last pregnancy. And ventolin is the cure for everlasting life!

@Babydoll572011 Yay another due date buddy! Sorry you are still feeling icky, hopefully this will pass soon as we get closer to second Tri! And I'm sure we all have some not so nice nicknames for our SO

What's new with baby (size, development):
size of a lemon! Has finger prints and intestines are moving to their permanent spot in their stomach, vocal cords are forming. So cool!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby:
I told work at the end of last week and it feels so good to tell people! My life is no longer a lie! :)
    Rant/rave/symptoms/questions:
headaches and still pretty tired expecially in the afternoons. Also, question for everyone- I had light spotting that was red three times since week 8. Have been checked after the first and last time it happened at my doctor said sometimes it just happens and baby looks very healthy.  She did say  I should not have sex for "a little while" because it sounded like my cervix was getting irritated by either sex or a bowel movement (sorry tmi). Has this happened to anyone else?

    When is your next appointment:
5/24 for monthly appointment and then on our anniversary 5/25 we are going to a separate place where you can get a 3D ultrasound to find out the sex. We can't wait!! We are going to have her write the gender on a piece of paper and then we are going to go to dinner after or do something fun to celebrate 4 years of marriage and our new one on the way and open it then! Ahh I can't wait!!
GTKY: What are some nicknames you and your SO have for each other?  Any stories behind it?

Nothing crazy just a lot of "babe" and "my love" floating around :)
