Re: ^^^^TTCAL CHECK-IN : week of May 2^^^^

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) Two week waiting over here. Beta on May 16.

    3. Rants/raves: Not much! I am glad we had the  help of science this cycle to have a better chance getting pregnant. IVF consult is next week, in the event that this won't be successful.

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? smell? and taste?
    Sound: breaking waves
    Smell: sun block
    Taste: watermelon
    dpjennifer
  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): TWW, cycle 4 TTCAL, 9DPO. Feeling impatient.

    3. Rants/raves:

Rant: DH is in a funk. It's annoying. I have zero patience for it. I need to dig deep and find some patience to help pull him out of it.

Rave: Last minute plans seeing a long-time, wonderful friend this weekend. When we were catching up it came to light that we are both on cycle 4 TTC. I would never wish month after month on anyone else, but it made me feel so much less alone. Last time was cycle 1, one attempt for her to achieve pregnancy.

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? smell? and taste?

Sound: ocean waves. Immediately relaxing and melts away any tension.

Smell: Nag Champa incense. Reminds me of times past. I find it relaxing. Also, Republic of Tea ginger peach tea.

Taste: This is hard. I'm just really love all the foods.  And drinks. Maybe I will say white chocolate mocha.  That drink is my treat to myself lately.

@BornReady Fingers crossed over here for your beta!

    2. WTO CD 4. Slept in and forgot to take my temperature this morning. I'm such a TTC rebel.

    3. Had the worst effing week last week, so no rants as I'm planning on this one being better.

DH used his fitness expense account for the year at work to buy a bike. He'd planned on riding it in for his commute, which would possibly shave about ten minutes off and take care of his exercise for the day. There's a bike path on the waterfront pretty much the whole way downtown, so it seemed easy. Well, he took a wrong turn and ended up in The Don Valley (a large, mostly undeveloped valley dividing east from west in Toronto). He went North for at least an HOUR instead of west to downtown. Needless to say, he's working from home today. This is a rave! He just went to buy me breakfast! What a treat! Too bad he's so noodly now; it's been years since he biked seriously.

Cancelled the housekeeper because we transplanted all the tomatoes indoors because of crappy weather and the kitchen is full of potting soil. It felt great. We have rotating service and, even though we complimented the housekeeper we really like, they always send us the annoying one who does a bad job and smacks her gum in my face. Feels great to cancel.

    4. GTKY:

Sound: A loon calling or the sizzle of vegetables going into a really hot pan

smell? The ocean? It's been a long while since I've made it to the ocean, but I'm pretty sure that's it. In my every day life, grapefruit.

and taste? Raw celery, for sure.

Tww here too @BornReady! FX for your beta!

I have no idea if I actually ovulated or not because I wasn't temping but my never ending ewcm finally dried up last Tuesday so I guess we'll see what happens. I'll probably test on Friday.

  • @BornReady I agree, breaking waves and sunblock/suntan oil are my favs too!!

@reneeannemm your poor DH! That sounds like something I would do.

@ceclarlinetlo I also had never ending fertile CM this month. I decided to take a break from temping so I have no idea when I actually ovulated. I've had fertile cm for about 10+ days. It's insane.

  • 1. Introduce yourself (if you're new) I'm not new but since there a quite a few new people I will give an abbreviated version. We were TTC for 6 months when I had a possibly blighted ovum diagnosis at my first u/s at 7 weeks. By 10 we knew that it wasn't going to be a viable pregnancy and I had a D&C that week. I'm now on my 2nd cycle TTCAL.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) TTW (I think, lol). Took a month off of temping so not sure if/when I ovulated but I think I'm 4 or 5 dpo).

    3. Rants/raves: work is crazy! I'm an instructional designer and I just had a nursing faculty member finally send me her course materials for her online courses and students start May 12. Thanks for all of the time, lady! Oh, and I'm only in the office 2 days this week because I have off-site meetings every stinking day. Ugh!

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? smell? and taste? Sound- as others have said is most definitely the ocean. I never feel more at peace then when I'm near a large body of water. I must have been a mermaid in a past life :-). Smells would have to kinda go along with that; suntan oil or any coconutty tropical smell. And fresh salty air! I don't think I can pick one favorite taste. I love food! I love chocolate, peanut butter, cucumber, fruity stuff...I just can't pick a favorite and I know I'm forgetting a lot of things!

  • I have a question this week: This is my third cycle after loss. First cycle, I ovulated day 18. Second, day 10. When would you start using OPKs? I have about 30 in the cupboard, so I'm not worried about running out.

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) benched

    3. Rants/raves: using my benched cycle to hopefully let my body reset after the losses because it's being a little backwards. Pretty sure I O'd late yesterday on CD16 which is close to normal for me. I actually had 36 hours of +OPK when I usually barely have enough surge to catch it, but I barely had any fertile cm, 2 days of water and one of kinda egg white. Usually I depend on CM to help time when to start EOD/ED but if it's going to suck from here on out I need to be better with preseed and just assuming start around day 10.
Super jealous @MooFish2364 and @ceclarlinetlo are having so much good CM!

2.Currently waiting for AF or pregnancy test. I am 9DPO and cycle day 28. Hoping for the best!

    3. Rant. I've been having very emotional moments for a couple of days now. Crying my eyes out for the smallest things, getting irritated and then crying. Yesterday was the worst and had my DH hug me while I cried.. Not knowing why... Pregnant? PMS from hell?

    3. Rants/raves: My temps have been kind of off the past few days but I think its because I've had sinus issues and I'm all stuffed up so I'm sleeping with my mouth open. Hopefully it straightens out before I O. Bought wondfo OPK strips so I can test more often because with the digital it seems I miss my surge only testing once a day. Looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about! :)

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? Birds chirping in the morning
    smell? flowers
    and taste? chocolate

@Snobunniemel I never have true egg white CM, I think I have only had watery- I don't know if its because I have a tipped uterus and can't reach my cervix all the way but started using preseed and the 2 cycles that we had good timing in the FW one of them I got pregnant so don't know if it was the lube or not! Can't hurt to try!

  • @BornReady My fingers and toes and my everything are continuing to be crossed for you!!

@mwoodside I also met up with a friend recently who I knew was TTC and when I fully expected to hear she was KU, she instead told me about all her fertility struggles. I feel so badly for her, but it was nice to connect with someone who didn't have everything going perfectly for them. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but it helps to know you're not alone for sure.

@reneeannemm You can send the annoying housekeeper my way. I have zero motivation to clean today. Also, I love to bike and have zero sense of direction so I can totally relate to your poor DH. Though, isn't it pretty cold for cycling yet up in Toronto? I'm shivering thinking about it!

    Sorry about your car, @ceclarlinetlo ; :/

@MooFish2364 I have a friend in the same line of work and he constantly talks about frustrations like yours. He actually switched employers because of problems like that. Hope you have time to get the course set up with minimal stress.

@snobunniemel Sorry about your lack of fertile CM. I usually have minimal myself and was considering Preseed myself on the cycle I ended up KU so I never ended up getting it. I have heard good things mostly.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) WTO or possibly TWW?! On CD # 41 :s since D&C and it's been unending EWCM the whole time (unusual for me). Officially unbenched myself (NTNP) since all our testing looked great. Was fully expecting AF to show up soon or to have to go get AF started medically but I've had weird cramps over the ovaries and a huge temp spike today after weeks of Rocky Mountains. Going to see how the next couple temps look.

    3. Rants/raves: Yay for maybe O! Honestly I'd rather welcome AF, though. I'm not ready to be really trying again and hence we are NTNP and actually having sex for the intimacy aspects. It's been a great break from TTC sex. Overall, I'm hopeful my body is slowly coming around and remembering what it's supposed to do.

My husband told me the other day he wants to do something for me on Mother's Day this year. I'm not sure how I feel about this, not because I don't feel like a mother (I know I am), but I'm not sure if I can handle the emotions attached to it. Thankfully, I work that day so I'm assuming he will just cook me a dinner and buy me flowers or something and I will have minimal triggers that day.

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? smell? and taste?

Sound: Tie between ocean waves and DH playing acoustic guitar
    Smell: Agree with @SnobunnieMel --bonfire
Taste: A really deeply flavored and complex red sauce (marinara)
  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.):  WTO CD 18.

    3. Rants/raves: Had a good weekend with the puppy at my parents house.  Also picked up my 6 new feather babies (chickens)!!!

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? smell? and taste?

Sound: I like the ocean waves and thunderstorms as mentioned above!  Nice!
Smell: The rain in the country.
Taste: Probably dark chocolate and/or ice cream.  Yum!

@reneeannemm Yay for tomatoes!  Yeah, mine are sitting in the garage because the weather keeps flip-flopping here.

@SnobunnieMel Good luck with the CM.  Mine seems to be a lot more wonky post-MC as well.  Last cycle seemed really good and ‘normal,’ but this cycle I seem to be dry as a bone and coming up on O so keep thinking there should be something!  I guess we just have to wait it out?

@wishIlivedinflorida, YES. I had prepared myself ahead of time that the next time we met up she would be pregnant b/c back in the fall she had said they were getting ready to TTC again soon. So I was a bit surprised in my head she wasn't visibly sporting a bump and then when we got to talking it came to light that we are both on cycle 4. Which for her seems like forever, based on her past experience. To me, with a much different history, it seems not like forever, although I am still feeling impatient.

  • @SnobunnieMel it's nice to have but strange to have for so long. I never get EWCM. Well maybe once or twice before I was TTC (of course) I remember because I actually looked it up because I had no idea what it was! I guess I just don't know why I've had it for so long. I should have ovulated days ago but I'm still having watery cm. Who knows?!

@dpjennifer I also love the sound of thunderstorm. As long as I'm safe and snugly at home when they happen. I hate when I have to drive home from work during them.

@catiecatp I think FF is saying 5 DPO because last cycle you had flatline temps right after ovulation. I can't make out much more than that.

edit: if i overlay my ovulation charts with yours, it looks right to me. Can I link to that here?

Had a natural miscarriage around 2/17/16 with baby only measuring 6w1d. We are now actively trying again after getting my first period some six weeks after miscarriage.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.): either 5 DPO per FF or still waiting to ovulate. See rant.

    3. Rants/raves: This is my first month charting and it's been rocky. I also am first doing opks this cycle and I got a high reading starting last week on 4/25. I tested every other day last week - still getting blinking smileys. I figured I would test until it went back to the open circle since this is my first time using and first cycle after loss and who knows what my body is doing. Today, however, I got a solid smiley, and since yesterday I've been spotting very minimally, which I've never had around ovulation prior to the miscarriage. So, I'm not sure exactly where I am or why this LH surge has lasted so long or if I've ovulated. We'll see what my temps do the next few days.

@reneeannemm - thanks - I'm not sure how to overlay your cycle with mine.

My impression is that FF is basing a lot on a dip on CD14. My expectation is that it will remove my crosshairs tomorrow - because that will fit better with the CM - and based on past cycles I ovulate on CD18 (3 out of 4 cycles, not including this one - the other was CD16 - CD14 isn't far out there but I don't know... EWCM was profuse on CD13...).

Fingers crossed I ovulated yesterday - our timing is way better with that ovulation day...

Regardless it is going to be a walk in blood test appointment unfortunately - nothing is available to book until Monday next week. At least it isn't a fasting test

  • @catiecatp Yours is the green line here compared to my two previous after loss cycles:

So I think you're right and it is basing it off of the dip on CD 14, which I seem to have on my O day and you may not.

  • @reneeannemm - I had a bit of a dip last month, but that is the only month with a dip, and it was less dramatic than this month's. But this could be me regulating...

  • @catiecatp I tend to think that if you have two more high temps the next two days it will move your cross hairs to yesterday. Have you tried inputting some dummy temps and seeing what happens?

Looking at your past charts I would suggest maybe trying OPKs out in the coming months if you aren't successful. I think that might give you a clearer picture of when you are ovulating. Looking at your temps, I almost wonder if some months you are actually ovulating a couple days earlier than FF thinks and have a slow rise pattern. Do you feel like you body's ovulation signs are lining up for you and your cross hairs?
  • I am also wondering if perhaps you ovulate earlier than FF is saying and having fertile cervical mucus after, which is throwing you off. OPKs might help out. I buy mine from here but I don't know how the prices compare to the ones everyone else seems to use. I ordered from amazon the first time and they took three months to arrive, so I don't take the risk anymore.

  • @fivetimesnoluck Good luck with those 2 follies! The idea of twins excites me, but I know the reality might be something else!
    fivetimesnoluck
  • @reneeannemm and @bornready - now that you mention it, I can see a potential slow rise pattern, which would actually be great long term because it would mean a longer LP, which has been a concern of mine - if I don't have a BFP this month then I'll be using OPKs. The long period of CM has been pushing me towards that idea anyways - this cycle I was adamant about wanting to hit O (the only cycle we got pregnant we hit O - correlation doesn't equal causation, but my brain is trying to find reasons for not being pregnant the way that many people symptom spot) - and the amount of BD this past week has been a bit tiring. I'll order Wondfos and if they don't arrive on time I'll splurge and get something from the drugstore.

If I put in 2 dummy temps it moves the crosshairs and they go from dashed to solid. Either way we should be good - if it stays with CD14 then we have -2, -1 and +1 - if it stays with CD18 then we have -3, -2, -1, O (and +1 is yet to be determined... I'm leaning towards not).

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.)  I guess TWW still since I don't know if I truly O'd (no real temp spike).  Hoping AF will arrive this week sometime...my cycles are still a bit off post D&C, but averaging 33-36 days and today is CD33.  I am not even tempted to test this cycle, just ready to move on to the next with my Clomid.

    3. Rants/raves:  I ranted yesterday, so trying to be more positive today.  DH has been really supportive this weekend while I had a meltdown and I appreciate it, because sometimes I am sure he'd rather not listen to me on repeat.

    4. GTKY: What's you favorite sound? smell? and taste?

    Sound: rain and/or ocean waves
    Smell: sea air
    Taste: chocolate

@snobunniemel that pictures makes me so happy/sad, thank you for sharing!
@catiecatp my brother and his wife just went to BANFF and loved it!   Their photos were amazing. Enjoy!!

  • @BornReady Same!  We won't make the decision lightly. It's not something I have hoped for, but I am not sure if we would cancel a cycle just because it's an option.... Will discuss with DH tonight.

  • @aera11 - it is right in our back yard - seriously just over an hour of driving. If/when we move we'll kick ourselves for not going more. I'll be sharing photos over on Instagram if you're over there (catiecatp over there too) - I've got the feed set to private but if you (or anyone on here) would like to follow me you can send me a request. If I decline it is likely because I don't recognize your username (and it could be that I don't recognize it because I'm tired) - just send me a pm or post here and I'll accept.

BFP 2/1/16 MC 3/21/16 Thankfully my period came exactly 28 days after the miscarriage, but I have benched myself. I realized that we would be kind of screwed because my work doesn't have any kind of maternity leave set up, so I signed up for short term disability. Now we have to wait for the '10 months after signing up to give birth' window to line up.

  • @MWoodside Hoping for the patience you need and that the funk is over soon.

@MooFish2364 Ahh, he's all right! I'll make sure he takes a warm bath tonight to soothe any possible sore muscles.

@yolandamunoz Yes, the french horn! What a wonderful instrument. One of the hardest to learn, too.

@Spartanrd I have to wonder if that's why I don't have ewcm, too. I'm trying grapefruit juice this time, but I can't really reach my cervix properly, so who knows. We conceived the first cycle we introduced preseed. I've held off from using it with the applicators the cycles we've tried since the loss - just a vague sort of apprehension. I will be using the applicators again this cycle.

@WishIlivedinflorida It's not too bad! Toronto's weather is generally fairly mild, we're pretty far south. We've had a cool spring, but DH used to bike in Montreal as long as there was no snow and it's much, much colder there.

@dpjennifer They were looking a little sad, I think their roots were getting crowded in their coconut pods! Our weather is touch and go, too, so we've got them inside, barricaded from the cats, in the kitchen.

@fivetimesnoluck TWINS! Sometimes I think that would solve the agonizing dilemma DH and I are already feeling over whether we're one and done, but we really should get there first before agonizing. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you.

@laeberge3 The first cycle charting is usually pretty rocky, it takes a while to get used to it and then a little while to learn to interpret them.

@ktcakes87 Hello, welcome. Sorry for your loss. Best wishes to you and many congratulations on your recent marriage. I never imagined myself married, but here I am and it's the best decision I ever made.

  • @reneeannemm the applicators are weird but I conceived the cycle we used them vs the cycle we used it just as regular lube. Putting it in before BD kind of takes the spontaneity out of it but I guess baby making sex isn't always romantic anyways for the most part! ;)

  • @Spartanrd4 Hahaha, DH and I do not have romantic baby-making sex. It is perfunctory and we both close our eyes and hope it's over soon. I don't know why! From the very first time back in September of last year - I was just like yuck no thank you and there is nothing on this earth or in the sky that can turn me on if I know it's my FW. Sometimes at the beginning DH doesn't know, so it's a little more fun, but by the time we reach O it's so bad it's hilarious. All my adult life I've been a very sexual person, and DH and I have a great relationship and connection, so I think this shift in purpose has just been too hard to adjust to. Ah well, there's every other week of the cycle.

  • @Spartanrd4 and @reneeannemm So funny, that you guys mention your luck with the pre-seed applicators. The month I conceived DS was the first month we used them. Since knowing that our issue is motility, it actually makes some sense to me that, that was why we were successful. I had completely forgotten about that.

  • We used it the cycle we conceived our MMC and it is a little weird to have to go "prep" 15 minutes ahead of time but I feel like it really does help if you are worried about CM at the crucial days
