Febrile seizure

just wondering if anyone else's baby had a febrile seizure, my daughter had one friday, it was so scary, her eyes got glossy, wasn't focused, then went limp and stopped breathing, started jerking, then threw up. Her fever spiked really fast, she still has a fever, ive been doing what the dr said, tylonal and Advil, she has no infections, she's teething but I've read that shouldn't cause high fevers. I'm so scared it's going to happen again

I have no experience but I'm on a Facebook parents group, and it was a recent topic. Consensus was it's super scary but is the body's response to sudden extreme temperature change and doesn't cause permanent damage. I actually saved the thread in case I need it one day.
I'm sure you've taken her to a doctor, so hopefully that can give you peace of mind. I'm so sorry this happened to you. It must have been so terrifying! Wishing your LO all the health.

Ugh that must have been awful. I'm so sorry you and LO went through that. No advice either but prayers are headed your way!!
  • @house86 I'm so sorry your LO had a seizure, they can be very scary to witness and make you feel pretty helpless. Until I had my son I was working with children in the hospital. I worked with many infants and children who had febrile seizures. As you were told it is typically when they spike a fever very quickly, the best you can do is follow your doctor's instructions and make sure to give the meds on time. The good news is children will outgrow them if they are just febrile seizures. But you will have to keep an eye on her for the next couple of years when she does get sick. If they continue to happen they may suggest a EEG to make sure it is only from the fevers. If this ever is needed feel free to contact me and I can give you more information about them and how to best help your daughter with it. I hope this was just a one time event for her and she remains seizure free from now on.
  • So sorry, that had to be so scary :(
  • How terrifying! I'm so sorry. Glad she's feeling better!!
  • How scary! I couldn't imagine!

I I have no personal experience or know anything about them. I would def ask your babes doctor about what to expect.
