Trouble TTC

Hello! New here :)

edited May 2016 in Trouble TTC
Hi everyone! I am new here. My husband and I have been TTC for a little over a year now. I am 34 years old and he is 40 years old
I have gone through what feels like a ton of tests - all have come back 'normal'. Is it weird its more frustrating to keep getting normal test results back then it would be if something came up as wrong?

The last test done was last Thursday- I got a progesterone level test done at 9 dpo - test results came back from the lab on Friday: 9.3 ng/ml... waiting to hear back from the RE office if this is within normal range and what he suspects the next steps should be.

Re: Hello! New here :)

  • Hi! I'm sorry you find yourself here, but welcome :) we too have been diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility, and I honestly feel like it is the most frustrating diagnosis.  Obviously something is wrong, but the Drs. Just can't find it.
I guess I should be thankful that nothing is "wrong" per say, but that also means, there is nothing specific to treat.

There are many of us here with a similar story, I hope you can find the support you are looking for here.
Has your doctor mentioned any possible treatment plans yet? Usually medicated IUIs is the next step, which we haven't done yet but are looking at starting this summer.

  • Hi :) at this point he is still trying to diagnose...I believe the next thing he wants to do is an HSG (but that will be confirmed once his office contacts me Monday or Tuesday regarding the progesterone test)

he did mention the possibility of moving on to an IUI when he did the post coital test. We looked at the sample he took from me together and there was A LOT of cells in my CM and a lot of sperm seemed to be stuck at the cells...like little walls they couldn't get past (lol) ...I asked the RE if this was normal and he said it may just be how my CM is...and if it seems to be a problem we could do IUI to get the swimmers past that.... But other than that he said everything looked fine.

  • Welcome.  I am new here also,  but so far it has been really great.
We are in a very similar position.  I have also been through all kinds of testing.  No diagnosis yet.  Although I don't want there to be something "wrong" the fear of unexplained infertility scares me even more.  Good luck with your upcoming tests.  I hope you get some answers and your stay here is short.
  • Hey there!  I don't have experience with "unexplained" since our diagnosis is pretty clear as day, but I wanted to welcome you anyway.  There is a higher pregnancy rate with fertility treatments for those with "unexplained" diagnoses so try to stay hopeful!  Best of luck to you with your testing/treatments!

  • thank you ladies! I haven't been diagnosed with unexplained infertility yet... my RE is still testing- I keep hoping he finds something wrong.. i know that sounds strange but if there is something wrong then there is something to fix.

every test so far has come back normal.... my progesterone at 9 dpo was 9.3 which from what i've found on google sounds a little low (i've read the RE's like to see 10+)...so perhaps there is an ovulation issue... at the last internal ultrasound a few days before my last assumed ovulation date he said he saw two eggs, one from each side that both looked good..the left side was a little larger and he thought that would be the egg that would end up being released. but who knows if something just isn't happening right after that point

RE has said if no BFP this cycle he wants to start me on Clomid and has already proactively given me the RX (I haven't filled it yet) .. so hopefully that helps
