8 weeks measuring 5 1/2

I went to my ultrasound Friday and my baby is measuring 5 1/2 weeks insteas of 8 weeks and has no heartbeat. I am sure of my LMP. I have to repeat my ultrasound on Friday..to see if there is a heartbeat. Has this ever happened to anyone..? Feeling nervous .

Were you temping? If you don't know when you ovulated (only able to be confirmed by temping or ultrasound), you may have just ovulated later than the predicted average. This is especially true if you tend to have longer cycles (longer than 28 days). What is the date of your LMP and when did you get a positive test?

Things can unfortunately go either way at this point, and it is dependent on a lot of factors. There's not a lot you can do but wait at this point. I hope things work out for you.

Like others have said it's definitely possible that your baby is just younger due to a late ovulation and nothing to do but wait. Fingers crossed for good news for you!

I don't mean to scare you, but this basically happened to me. I went for an ultrasound at 9w3d and my baby was measuring 5w3d and no heartbeat. There was no way my dates could be wrong by a month so I've had a missed miscarriage (missed abortion, technically). I'm so, so sorry if you get the same news as me. It's devastating. Huge hugs to you.

I went to my appointment, about 8.5 weeks after the first day of my last period, and they measured me at 6wks5 days and the baby had a heartbeat. Give it until your next appointment! My doctor also told me that she didn't want to give me a due date until another 4 weeks, because depending on the growth of the baby, it could just be really small, or really big.
