Re: PGAL Check-in 4/25

  • Weeks: 22w1d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Ultrasound on Thursday am to check placenta position because the tech at my a/s didn't record the proper measurements.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  I had really intense cervical pressure on Saturday, which was driving my PGAL brain a bit crazy.  Tempted to call and ask my midwife to have the u/s tech check cervical length at my ultrasound on Thursday, just for peace of mind.

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on? Both DH and I are nesting!  DH is on a yardwork mission these days, which is great because I hate gardening and our yard is usually a barely passable mess.  I'm nesting indoors-- getting DD's "big girl" room set up and the new guest room organized.  We spent a few hours yesterday shopping for all of things we needed for DD's room.  It was fun and definitely gave me a sense of accomplishment.

    Weeks: 26 weeks today.

What's new? (Milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Tomorrow I have a midwife appointment that should have happened two weeks ago! Except, three weeks ago my midwife was rollerskating with her kids, fell, and fractured her skull in two places and was bleeding in her brain. It's taken some time to find local midwives to cover her appointments. I'm excited for this appointment because I've had a lot of concerns recently that I'm not gaining weight on track (my midwife has never weighed me), so I sometimes get scared that since I can't tell that I'm getting bigger, maybe baby isn't growing properly... Also, YAY FOR VIABILITY! It's only a small relief,  because of course I want baby to stay in there as long as she needs, but it's a load off mind.

Rants/Raves/Positive vibes: A little scared i might have to change midwives this late in the game... the doctor told her she'd be no way ready for working for at least 3 months, and baby is due here in that time... I love her to death, and her assistant is wonderful, but I just don't know where to go from here.
We're getting closers here, mamas! Only the summer stands between us and our babies. We can do this, and hopefully our babies will all be healthy just like we've dreamed.

Questions? Anyone else in the "I never get any sleep anymore" boat? I'm a FTM, so there's no other little ones, but jeez, walking up multiple times a night, every night, for no discernable reason :/

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on? Oh god, the nesting... my fiance is probably sick of my DIY ideas. Aside from cleaning top to bottom  (hard when you're getting big), we're working on making our room a nursery as well. Who knew babies had so much shit??

Edited because auto correct is out to get me.
  • Weeks:  24 Viability!

What's next? : Glucose test and appointment early may.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  Back is hurting, I feel huge.  I have another head cold which makes it hard to get enough oxygen.  I would love to be out playing but its so hard.

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?   I would love to paint our house (inside) before baby but we will see!

  • Weeks: 25w2d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
The next big thing is the glucose test. I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to it, per se. Mostly I'm just looking forward to it being over!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I'm getting pretty tired of these pregnancy hormones. I feel so bad for my DH; he's really taking it like a champ.

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?
Actually, we're kind of at a stand-still on projects right now. We just moved my daughter into the spare room after fixing it up (new trim around the entire room, new paint, curtains, etc.) and we put together the crib in her old room, which is the nursery. We still need to paint the kitchen (something I've wanted to do since I bought the house a year ago) and get the other nursery furniture.

  • @Knottie1442786653 I've had so much trouble sleeping! I'm a FTM too, but it's so hard to get comfortable and I wake up several times to pee at night. Then when DH leaves for work (we're on opposite work schedules) I wake up when he does and can't go back to sleep.

    Weeks: 24. Finally reached viability!

What's next? I have an appointment tomorrow to listen to the heartbeat and just get a checkup. Glucose test and follow up ultrasound to check on baby's kidneys is at the end of May when I'll be 28 weeks.

Rants/Raves/Positive Vibes: Starting Saturday night my right rib cage (both front and back) started hurting. It got worse yesterday and hurt really bad when I was trying to sleep last night. It's still painful now. I'm glad I have an appointment tomorrow to ask about it but I'm worried my OB will just brush me off like she does most things. I freaked myself out by reading it could be HELP Syndrome, but I'm sure they would have caught that. As far as I know my urine tests have been normal and my blood pressure has been pretty low. Probably just worried for nothing!

Questions: Is anyone else carrying really low? I'm carrying so low that I always have pressure in my lower abdomen and pelvis. Makes me waddle sometimes. I always thought these were sensations I wouldn't get until the third trimester.

GTKY: Last weekend my parents came into town and helped DH and I build shelves in the baby's closet and we set up the crib and my new glider. We're having to share the nursery with the guest room so we also did a little rearranging. But it looks great! Now I'm just waiting until after the showers so I can decorate and set everything up.
  • Weeks: 22w4d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Next appointment is in 2 weeks.  My DH and I are taking a trip in May and I am looking forward to that.  I will be almost 30 weeks and that will be the last of the flying until the LO comes

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I feel really good. I have had a bit of acid reflux lately but I physically feel great.  It has been staying cool in New England so no swelling yet!  Sending positive vibes out to everyone!

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?  I am nesting big time and I think I am driving my DH nuts.  It just feels good to cross things off the list while it is not blazing hot and I am still feeling good.  The guest bedroom officially became a nursery over the weekend.

@JournoGrl23 I'm carrying low and waddling some of the time too!  This kid loves to roll around at the bottom of my uterus and kick my bladder.  It is so much more uncomfortable than my first pregnancy!

    Weeks:
    24w1d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
I had an appointment today. I was able to talk to the doctor about the pressure and pain I've been feeling. She checked my cervix and everything was fine. She suggested a pregnancy belt. I think I'll stick to taking it easy.  ;)

We go back in 3 weeks for another checkup and glucose test. We're moving along!  :)

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I feel so much better after talking to the doctor. PGAL brain was going crazy; it's nice to have a break from it! Positive vibes to all!

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?
Not nesting yet. We have to have an addition built before the LO arrives. The clock is ticking but we're waiting on DH's great uncle to draw a plan. It's a shame I can't just build it. It would be done by now!
  • @Fremdschamen It is very uncomfortable! Mine is also kicking my bladder. It's as if she hates it when I have to pee even a little. She'll start kicking me directly in the bladder like she's telling me to go to the bathroom.
  • Weeks: 23

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
One week from viability! Also have our next appointment and glucose test a week from Thursday. I'm oddly looking forward to this because it's one more appointment milestone and just makes me realize I'm still trucking along!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
Feeling like I'm in a good place right now, PGAL-brain-wise. With viability a week away and feeling baby a ton, I almost feel like a normal pregnant person. I also haven't used my Doppler in almost two weeks, which I'm pretty proud of.

    Questions?
Anyone else get a side cramps/stitches sensation? It just started about a week ago and I notice it when I walk or am active. But even though the feeling is identical to a side cramp, it's about halfway between my side and my belly button. Then again, maybe that's where my side would be if I weren't pregnant, lol.

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?
I'm mostly just pinning so far, and have bought a few things here and there (sheets, changing pad cover, etc). We are remodeling our kitchen next month and adding extensive wine storage to our cabinets. Baby is going in DS1's old room since it's set up as a nursery already, and DS1 (and eventually baby too) will be moving into what is now our guest room/wine room (yes, we have a wine room. Don't judge!). So I can't do much with the rooms until our kitchen remodel is done.

  • @bananers You are getting the complete opposite of judgment from me re: your kitchen wine storage and wine room-- pure jealousy!  I was really missing wine this weekend when I was out at an event with friends.  We usually go wine-tasting every summer, but obviously skipping it this year.

  • And just when I felt like I was keeping the PGAL brain at bay, Timehop reminded me we got a BFP a year ago today. We lost that baby 10 weeks later. Ugh.

  • @lgem4 That sounds painful! I know mine is upside down right now but I don't think her head is on my cervix. I've also been getting the sciatic pain for a couple months now. My chiropractor has helped a lot with that though!

@bananers I'm sorry. It's upsetting getting reminders of previous pregnancies. I'm not looking forward to that anniversary either. Mine will be in June.
  • @bananers I'm sorry. That is a tough day. Hugs
  • @bananers I'm so sorry. That's an awful reminder and just a crappy memory to have. Hang in there. Hugs!
  • Weeks:

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):
28 week appointment in May. I ordered a muslin towel/blanket for baby on amazon to get my registry swag bag. Excited to get it!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I had my hospital tour tonight--wow that makes it feel real!  I was also the only one who asked questions...
This weekend my ribs started hurting pretty good and right under my boobs in the middle.

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?
I've been feeling this hardcore recently. I cleaned out my linen and bathroom closets this weekend to make space. We also have started a garage sale pile to get rid of extra stuff and maybe make a little extra. Next up is moving around furniture in the guest room to make room for a crib and dresser.

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Glucose test next week and regular checkup.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Bh have started which are a whole new sensation, and work has been stressful trying to train the girl who will cover for me while I'm on leave. But I'm loving that baby boy seems to now be a little more playful and let's other people feel him kick :)

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on? Since we painted the furniture in the nursery, dh and I have been in nesting mode! It's so nice to have him just as excited as me. We had my side of the family's baby shower this past weekend, so more stuff to get setup and make everything seem that much more real! Plus we started tackling the yard, and that feels so good to get done, too, while it's still not blazing hot yet.

    Weeks: 26

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Awaiting GD test results, a little nervous. The drink wasn't that bad. The ultrasound this appointment was blurry because spawnling wouldn't sit still :)

Feeling mix of emotions as Mother's day approaches, my miscarriage happened mother's dat last year.

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
been having lots of movement and a few Baxon Hicks.

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on?

We are having to remodel the kitchen whether we want to or not, which us stressful. But I am feeling an impulse to have the place clean and orderly.

  • Weeks: 24w3d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Not much for the next 2 weeks, then just a regular appt.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: feeling pretty good, so happy to reach viability! Positive vibes to all!

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on? We're still unsure of whether or not we'll be moving prior to LO arriving so no big projects, but if I could I definitely would be!

  • Hugs, @liljabee. Milestones are so hard, but to have that happen on Mother's Day is just cruel. I hope this Mother's Day is filled with more hope and joy for the baby you're carrying than sorrow over the one you lost.

  • @bananers thank you, I hope to focus on the positive. I am sorry to hear Facebook reminded you as it did.
  • @liljabee I'm sorry your loss milestone is coming up. Especially with it being on Mother's Day.
  • @bananers I get those cramps too, but I notice them mostly *blushes* during or after sex. But it feels exactly as you described!
Also, to all the mommas with milestones that they're reliving or that are coming up, I'm so sorry that you're going through that, but remember, you are strong. I've always liked to believe that the little one we lost is watching out for the little one we're preparing to meet.
  • Weeks: 23w5d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to):  Friday is my 6 month apt and my glucose test.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Feeling great, except still not sleeping well. I wake up at least every 30 minutes to roll over due to my hips throbbing.

Questions? I still freak out when I don't feel him all the time, he doesn't seem to have a set routine yet, and I go some days hardly feeling him move at all...... hope that is normal?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on? There are so many factors up in the air right now with my job and DH's, we may move before my due date so I am just doing what I can to prepare if we do stay where we are at.
  • Weeks: 23w 6d

What's next? (milestones, appointments, something you are looking forward to): Anatomy scan and gd test are in 2 weeks. Really can't wait to see baby again!

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I'm just really annoyed with my job right now which is making me cranky! Less than 4 weeks til I'm free for the summer! I want to keep teaching for the flexibility it provides with having kids (home by 4, holidays, summers home), but don't know how I'm going to maintain my current level of working/caring while taking care of a baby too.

Positive vibes to everyone with milestones, surgeries and nagging PGAL brain.

    Questions?

GTKY: Who's nesting? Any particular projects you're working on? I want to nest but school is kicking my butt. I can never seem to get caught up. We got the crib yesterday so hoping we can start putting the nursery together soon.
  • @mksfav we're the same in weeks and I would agree our baby seems to have no schedule either.
  • @Abcd7890 well that's a relief!
