So, my daughter will be 8 months old in a few days and I'm getting anxious about what's in store as far as the new foods she will start eating soon. We introduced her to solid foods at 6 months (as recommended by her pediatrician), and she's taken a liking to the foods. She's good with peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash. She also likes her cereal
Oh, and I'm a first time mom, by the way
I have to admit that I'm pretty nervous about introducing newer foods (like yogurt? mashed foods?) I guess I just don't know where to begin with all of that. I know there's tons of baby food recipes out there, and I'm willing to cook and prepare them for her. I guess I'm just nervous about how much she should eat and how often she should eat blended foods on a typical day. What would you guys suggest I start with? How did you guys configure a menu for your first child when they were between 6-9MOs? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated! lol
At his 6 month appointment, our ped said we could feed him pretty much anything except for honey and milk in place of formula/BM. Does she have any teeth yet and has she had any more solid foods yet or just pureed? I gave lots of yogurt/applesauce/fruit purees. For practicing getting used to solids, I started with puff snacks because they get mushy really quickly so they are a very low choking hazard. That helped him learn how to chew. By around 9 months we were giving small pieces of lasagna and other finger foods like peas and beans. I'd gauge amounts on commercial sized baby foods. 2-4oz per meal plus snacks. I usually keep it pretty simple for his meals unless he eats what we eat. Scrambled eggs are also a favorite. Easy to prep, easy for him to pick up, but nice and soft. Sorry this is kind of all over the place but that's just kind of how his meals have been, lol.
SmrBrd2012, thank you very much for that helpful info! I appreciate it! My daughter has two teeth on the bottom, and she's back to drooling all over everything again so I'm pretty sure she's going to be growing in some more soon. She's tried those puffs and at first didn't like them, but she's come around. She understands what to do with them now lol. She's only eaten pureed foods, alongside her oatmeal cereal, which she eats in the morning as breakfast. Thank you for sharing!
