Symptoms/raves/rants? Symptoms: Having trouble sleeping; heartburn at night is the worst, and my hips are hurting more- but unless I'm tired I'm able to not waddle! My feet itch-- I think I might have to bring it up to my doctor next week just in case its something to worry about.
Raves: Overall, I'm just happy. I don't mind the weight gain or the stretch marks- honestly I'm the weirdo who is ridiculously amused by the stuff that upsets most people- but like I said I'm a weirdo.
Rants: I'm getting annoyed by all the judgmental parenting crap some of my friends are posting on facebook. Mostly how EVERYTHING is now child abuse. Yes, smacking your kid can be child abuse-- granted I got smacked upside the head when I was a kid and I don't feel like I was abused but whatever. But the whole Mom who threw away her kids ice cream because they didn't treat the server like a person or even acknowledge them is not child abuse in my opinion (I should probably put that on FFFC but eh effort). I dunno I just feel like everything is getting blown out of proportion- you can make an argument that everything is bad for your kids, so when does it stop? <end rant that probably didn't even make sense>
Appointment update? Not for another week because my doctor is having/had her baby this weekend. So next Friday afternoon- and it will be an ultrasound because I'll be 38 weeks. Woot woot!
Questions for the group? None
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? My hubby will be home for 2 weeks- he could have taken 3 but then he wouldn't have any leave left for the rest of the year and his dad is getting remarried in August so we kinda need to go out to MO for that. Then my FIL and future stepmother in law(?) are flying in on May 21st for about 5 days. We're not hiring anyone but most of my family is super close by so I can always call them and be like HHEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP if I need it.
Symptoms/raves/rants? Finally made it to full term! I am so uncomfortable and this baby girl can come at any time.
Appointment update? Next weekly appointment is on Tuesday AM
Questions for the group? Nope!
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? My H will be taking a week or so off, although he is lucky and makes his own schedule so will be around quite a bit even when he is back to work. My parents will also be coming up for labor & delivery as my mom will be my second support person a long with H and I'm sure they'll stay around for at least a few days after. I'm actually really looking forward to getting into a groove with just the 3 of us (plus 2 dogs).
Symptoms/raves/rants? Sleep is not fun. It's hard getting comfortable and flipping from side to side is painful. I don't want to rush our boy coming, but I can't wait for him to be out so I can stop being so paranoid about how he's doing in there. I know I've said this before on here, but I really have been freaking out about movement and whether he's moving enough, etc.
Appointment update? Today at 2:20 for a regular check up. I'm curious to know if I'm dilated at all. We are planning to go to Hershey Park on Sunday for a work sponsored event, but it's about an hour and a half away. If I'm dilated or effaced, we're going to have to a make a go/no go decision. I guess the plus would be if I do go into labor they have a really great hospital up there! haha

Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? Husband will be off for a week to help out. If all goes as planned and baby comes on the RCS day, he'll be out Friday-Friday, with the hopes we'll be able to come home from the hospital Monday, or absolute latest Tuesday. Then it will probably be me solo during the day for a while. Either my hubby will be going into work a little late or my mom will come over to help get my DD ready and to daycare. Then my mom or sister will help out in the evenings when my DH has his final classes the week of the 9th.
@bookelf221I totally agree with you! I'm a firm believer in tough love sometimes. I'm not familiar with the story you're referencing, but it sounds to me like that would have been my response too!
How many weeks/fruit? 37 weeks--I'm over this fruit thing.
Symptoms/raves/rants? I think I experienced some mild back contractions last night. At the peak, I felt some lower belly pain. I'm really just ready. I don't want to do 3 more weeks of this.
Appointment update? Appointment today (rescheduled from yesterday by doctor). Check up and cervix check.
Questions for the group? None
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? My mom is going to fly down ASAP and stay for about 2 weeks.
Symptoms: swollen feet/ankles, exhaustion, back pain, the usual.
Rave: is that I'm still pregnant and she's still growing.
Rant: Hearing my husband complain about being tired/his aches and pains. I have to redo the glucose test again because of the amount of amniotic fluid right now.
Random: Had an appointment with the neonatal doctor this morning. She will have to go to the NICU regardless to monitor her heart rate. This really sucks. I have so much more detail but am too exhausted to type it all out.
Appointment update? Had a MFM this morning. OB is next Tuesday.
Questions for the group? Nothing I can think of. Doctors aren't even able to answer my questions at this point because it's a wait and see game for how she acts after she is born.
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? H will take off a couple of weeks. Our families live close so they can stay at home. I prefer to have our own space anyways. We've already noticed that we are going to have to set up boundaries with my mother. So that should be fun.
How many weeks? 36 tomorrow! No idea on the fruit. I am also over the fruit! @LadySamLady ..."human baby size" that made me laugh out loud. so true!
Symptoms (aka RANTS!): The heartburn is so bad. It got better for awhile and then the last couple days it is back so bad!! I was up last night from 2-5:30... took a shower and blow dried my hair, watched some One Tree Hill on Netflix... and of course I fell asleep at 5:30 and then was a hot mess when I had to wake up 45 minutes later! Also... carpel tunnel has been terrible for awhile and continues to be terrible. Swelling is out of control! Last night DH and I tested it and his wedding ring fits on my pinky finger and that is it. So depressing! Flip flops have been the only shoes I can wear for awhile and those are starting to be a little tight now too. Insane! In general, I'm so over everything. I feel like my body is made of steel or something else that ways a million pounds.
Raves: I think I've convinced DH that I should start maternity leave at 39 weeks. It will be so amazing to have a little break before LO arrives if he's not here early! And hey, if he comes a little late, then an even longer break. It really gives me something to look forward too!
Appointment - Tuesday 4/26. I've been sent to the hospital at my last two appointments as well as a third hospital visit in between due to lack of movement, so hoping all is well and I'm in and out :-) Should also get GBS results.
Question: Anyone else out there venturing into the Stay-At-Home-Mom gig for the first time? It makes it especially hard to keep it up at work!!
Help? I live in OH and my mom is in Seattle. I'm due on a Saturday and she's got a plane ticket to come out that next Tuesday. If he's pretty close to on time she'll keep it, if he's more than a few days early than she'll come early. She'll be staying with us for two weeks. When she leaves it's the ol' switcharoo and then my MIL will come for a week. I'm trying to get DH to understand that they're coming to HELP not to visit, and to make sure he's comfortable with them cleaning and changing diapers and watching LO while we try and sleep and etc. He's super weird about accepting help - I have a feeling he'll get over it once LO is here!!
Side note... I am spending way too much time lurking on the April board. I am just loving their birth announcements and stories, questions about newborns, etc... I am so, so jealous and just can't wait to meet my little guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Kit&Cat I totally feel you on the swelling from my last pregnancy. It was sooo bad. Flip flops (in at least 1 size larger then normal) was all I could wear for the last 2 months at least. Luckily it was summer going into fall so it wasn't a big deal. And in my 2nd tri, I had to get my engagement ring CUT OFF MY FINGER because my hands swelled so much. It was awful! I had carpel tunnel then too. I have no idea what I did differently this preg, or if it is just girl vs boy thing for me that I haven't had the same issues this time. Keep those feet propped if you can! I feel like my whole body started deflating after leaving the hospital lol
Symptoms/raves/rants? I'm having swelling and high BP, so I am home resting today. I haven't had heartburn since my dr gave me a prescription for Protonix, it is the best thing ever!!! Life changing lol.
Appointment update? Tuesday I have an US and weekly appointment
Questions for the group? None
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? DH will have a couple days off, the big kids will be at school, so just me during the day. If my other two were not school aged I would be worried.
Symptoms/raves/rants? rants: My whole family has had stomach flu issues this week. I'm so glad we appear to be on the mend. Some how I ended up with it twice. Thanks pregnancy and my weaker immune system! I am feeling much better today!
Appointment update? I had one on Thursday and Friday! I was sent to labor and deliver on Thursday for blood pressure monitoring and blood work. Blood work was fine and my blood pressure was like it always is high and then normal etc. Had a NST and growth scan today and Baby is measuring about 6 pounds 14 oz! They want to induce me next week. I am starting to get so anxious, excited too but mostly anxious!
Questions for the group?
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? There is some talk of my parents coming out to help with my older child but I'm not sure if that is a set in stone plan or not. My son would like to be able to stay home and not at a friend's house when I am at the hospital so having them here would be a huge help. My husband is going to take several weeks off. I think he can actually use his vacation leave up to 12 weeks. I don't think he *will* but we've been discussing it.
Symptoms/raves/rants? I had a tiny bit of spotting today and terrible cervical (possibly bladder?) pain these past few days. I'm pretty sure I had the exact same symptoms with my last pregnancy at this point so I'm thinking it's normal for me. Rant: Doing errands has been challenging with two kids tagging along but I'm desperate to get last minute things done like car maintenance and stocking up on necessities. Rave: I'm getting a new car tomorrow (a Honda Pilot) that will easily accommodate three kids- I can't wait!!!
Appointment update? My next appointment is Tuesday morning. I will get the GBS test and an internal exam- I hope all of this pain is actually doing SOMETHING to my poor cervix!
Questions for the group? None today
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? No help this time except DH. He can take about 10 days off so that will have to be good enough! After school lets out, my sister will have the whole summer off to help me with the kids although she's about an hour away. Also, my in-laws are right down the road but are busy with my SIL's kids most of the time.
Symptoms/raves/rants? My belly is just so stretched. I have stretch marks this time and they're always itchy. I have to mentally prepare to carefully get myself out of bed. I always here weird pops from my joints in the middle of the night and my inner thighs and hips hurt. I do sleep pretty sound though - just get up every 2 hours to pee.
Raves? probably all the positive comments from friends and strangers. Also, so happy these baby boys should be nice and developed when they're born. I returned all the preemie stuff I had.
Appointment update? Wednesdays are Dr. days for me and my last NST & sonogram looked good. Both boys are estimated to be 6 lbs 7 oz. At my Dr's appt. she said I was 2-3 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Sunday, May 1st will most likely be my induction date. I can't believe I have one more week! I'd still rather go into labor on my own, but we'll just see. An induction would be helpful since I have older kids, but...
Questions for the group?
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? DH is taking 2 weeks off and our moms will both help out here and there when they can. They both live 40 minutes away but luckily my MIL is retired and my mom is a teacher so she will have her summer off. My cousin's HS daughter is going to stay for a couple weeks too this summer. She's the oldest of 5 and is truly helpful and nice to have around. I bought her an air mattress w/Target gift cards $. lucky her. Wish we had a real guest room!
Symptoms/raves/rants? Leaking pee, yeast infection, just started to get 2 stretchmarks, lightning crotch, painful to turn over while sleeping, uncomfortable when I sit at work, ugh what else?! Raves: surprisingly, I really don't have much swelling and I don't usually get up to pee at night, but I've been taking a long evening nap and then getting up when my husband gets home at 1:30am and hang out with him for a couple of hours and then go back to sleep. I figure my sleep is going to be all messed up once LO is here anyways.
Appointment update? next Tuesday, NST and midwife appt.
Questions for the group? any ideas to help ease my anxiety about labor? I'm afraid of the IV, epidural, and pain.
Who are you enlisting to help you after birth and for how long? My husband put in his 2 weeks notice on Thursday because he will be a SAHD while going back to school. The plan is for 2 years. My mom is going to come by in the mornings to help me out for a week or 2. Idk if my MIL is coming back sometime soon, but it's probably going to stress me out more than help, if she does come around.
