I am not a fan of timehop on Facebook.  I think if you post an occasional one fine, but I have several friends constantly posting from there.

This might be more of a NY thing, but I HATE kids on those stupid scooters. They scoot along the sidewalk, and half the time you have to dodge them, because face it, they are 4 years old and have no motor skills. Then the other half of the time, mom and dad are just dragging them along on them. I have nothing against the scooter per say in a playground, but not on the sidewalks people.

I knew a guy who used to ride around on a scooter at work, and I thought he was the biggest tool on the planet because of it.  Once he ran into my cube because he tried to take a corner too fast.

My UO is that I don't like to read parenting books.  Infant care books were great, but when it comes to behavioral advice etc, I find that they just stress me out because of everything I'm doing "wrong".  Or worse, they're just talking common sense but trying to make it sound super complicated.

Yes! A lot of them say stuff like "try to prevent the behavior before it happens". Thanks for that amazing nugget of info I hadn't thought of, genius. I feel like they don't take into consideration you're sometimes dealing with a 2 year old that has a meltdown just because.

My OU is that the narrative about the dangers of having a baby past age 35 is blown way out of proportion on this BMB, imo. There are many, many other risk factors that we should be worrying about -- and doing something about -- other than age.

We've got a major problem with these "hover boards" on campus. Kids use them inside IN THE HALLWAYS. I almost got ran over the other day. WTF?

This probably isn't unpopular but it bothers me when people seem to want their babies to be born before full term. I think there is a difference between feeling done with pregnancy and actively hoping to deliver early and the latter just seems so selfish to me.

Same. I completely get the frustration and there have been times I've felt like "once I get to 37 weeks I'll totally want him out of here!" but now that I'm 37 weeks and started having contractions I got so nervous. I want him to be full term and healthy!

Agreed!  And even if you do think that way, I am surprised people don't change their mind once they see pictures of these babies in the NICU or with an oxygen tube on.  For 3 more weeks, we can sacrifice being uncomfortable if it means a better chance of our babies being 100% healthy.

@LadySamLady - I feel that way too.  I'm 37w4d, and although I'm entirely ready for LO to come (or so I'm thinking right now!) I can suck it up for a few more weeks to make sure he's healthy!

This. Especially with the stuff I've had go on the past week and people mentioning possible early induction. I'm obviously getting pretty uncomfortable at this point, but I really want baby to have the best chance on the outside and to stay in as long as everyone is healthy. A few weeks of discomfort for me is worth my child being healthy in the long run.

I feel like there should be a mandatory shelf life on commercials.  For example why is this particular commercial still on???  I've seen it so often that way...shut up and die pretty much sums it up.

Yes! I'm being induced for a medical reason and I'm still hoping to avoid it because I'm not symptomatic but I know that could change quite rapidly. I just don't understand how being uncomfortable is a valid reason for some women and their doctors. I judge the doctors more, isn't that contrary to the hippocratic oath?

My unpopular opinion isn't very deep or practical, but I can't stand lazy uber drivers. If I put in an address its because I want to be picked up there, not a block away because it's easier for you. Normally I don't mind, but lately I secretly love waddling up and watching them feel guilty about being so lazy.

I think that people who donate to causes shouldn't tell other people that they donated or how much they donated. It's tacky.

And I know it's uncomfortable, but honestly what is another couple weeks/days in the grand scheme of things if it means your child has more time to develop and be healthy?

Ill take it one step further, how about professors on scooters. Just no.  I work at a university and have almost got ran over by professors on scooters.

Exactly. And again, you're growing a flipping human being who is almost 2 feet long and 5-10 lbs. DUH you're uncomfortable, DUH you're hurting, DUH your body is prepping and practicing to get this human out of your body and into the world. Not to say we can't all complain about our discomforts, we are all at the end of our pregnancies and are all at the same stages of discomfort, but complain about it for a few more weeks, don't push or allow your dr to push you into completely unnecessary interventions to bring your child into the world before he or she is ready (obviously this does not go for those who need interventions for medical reasons).

I know this guy that every time he does a good deed he posts about it on Facebook for the likes.  Drives me nuts!  We get it dude, you think you're a great guy who does great things.  It doesn't mean as much if you humblebrag about it on Facebook to make sure everyone else knows you're this "great guy"..

I have a love/hate relationship with the random thread.  I love reading it and staying up to date on it...but I HATE how long it's getting.  Especially when my app is being stupid and I open the thread and it opens to the first page so I have to click through 66 pages to get to the new posts.

I think it's ridiculous when people post lovey dovey crap on Facebook to their significant others constantly or share a post with them tagged in it. I think the best relationships are the ones with minimal interaction on Facebook. Not saying don't have pictures with your SO or anything but seriously, everyone knows you're making up for something if it's a constant thing.

That's always bothered me!  Seriously, if you want to send a love note or random post to your SO while you're at work, use email or text.  What're you trying to prove by broadcasting your interactions on FB?

My UO is that the internet is freaking out about Prince dying and I'm over here like, meh. Also, when the celebrity is that young I always immediately wonder if it's an OD situation. 

To be fair, I WAS devastated when Alan Rickman died. So I get it. But still, meh.

What's funny is people don't take this opportunity to take this discomfort as the first time as a parent when you'll have to sacrifice for your child. IMO trying to get induced early, trying to put yourself into labor by dangerous means, trying to put yourself in labor waay before you should speaks volumes on the kind of parent you're going to be.

I just heard he was in a plane crash this weekend??? And refused treatment.

I bawled like a baby when Patrick Swayze died. You would have thought he really WAS my husband.

Really over hearing about Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian. I am happy for him that he wants to be healthy and is getting out his dark place, but just like normal people posting obsessively about their relationship on facebook, enough is enough with these two.

WTF I had no idea. I am upset about Prince. I'm very musical and when I was just figuring out my love for music his music was huge for me. I'm sad now.

I hate facebook, period. I deleted mine years ago and my life have been so much better since. I can't stand social media. The closest thing to it that I use are this app and instagram. Other than that I could care less what people from my past are doing every second of the day. The ones I want to keep in contact with I text, call and facetime.

This. But in LA - it's skateboards. One guy on a skateboard with his headphones in swerved in front of my car last week giving me heart attack (not really, but it felt like it!), and then he flipped me off. I hate skateboarders on streets/sidewalks - stick to the bike lanes people! 

My UO this week is that I hate it when American TV gets something wrong about Canada/the world. This coming from a recent The Good Wife episode (which was awesome, as usual) where Canada, and more specifically the place I am from, Toronto, is this beautiful mecca of non-littering perfection where everyone is super nice and for some reason the announcements are only in English (in reality, Toronto is a city, we have litterers, we are damned nice, but not that nice, and the airport announcements are by law in English and French). I doubt this would be a UO on my fb feed where most people are also Canadian, but here I feel like it's at least a "meh". And yes, I know I am being super picky.

I know this is very unpopular with a lot of the girls I grew up with, but I despise "bro country."  Those douchey guys/bands that are trying to revamp country...like Sam Hunt (one of his songs has a remix where it sounds like T-Pain should be chiming in doing whatever T-Pain does) and Florida Georgia Line.  Even some of Luke Bryan's (newer) songs are a little borderline for me.  I suppose all genres need to evolve a little, but I'll stick to my George Strait, Garth Brooks, Waylon, Merle and Conway (sweet Jesus, am I dating myself here?!).

I don't think I would cry over any celebrity's death.  There aren't any out there that I am that emotionally invested in.  Sure there are sad situations, but I don't think one that I would get that worked up over.

Re: professing love for your significant other over FB... I think it's definitely more disingenuous if someone has to post that just to prove something to their social media crew.  Why not just send it directly to your s/o?

Yes, I remember it coming up in UO Thursday before and talk of a new thread!  Lol.  I considered starting a new one this week, but because I rarely post in that thread because it's so overwhelming I decided it wasn't my place to start a new one.

I totally agree with PPs on people who want to go into labor early simply because they are uncomfortable, that doesn't seem right. However, I do hope to go into labor early because my doctors want to induce me because of my blood pressure, which is only high due to anxiety when I'm at the doctors office. I take it at home daily and its actually pretty good, and I really didn't want to be induced. Luckily, the doctors have really listened to me recently and seen that I'm actually doing really well and that it is indeed white coat syndrome induced high blood pressure, so they have agreed to push back any induction to just a few days before my due date instead of a week from today, which is what they originally were planning. That said, it would be REALLY great if I went into labor like the day before any scheduled induction because I just don't want to have to do it. Ideally, I'd be having this baby at 40 weeks without any induction, but since that isn't looking like the best course of action, I will admit here that I do hope I go into labor just a TINY bit early! Thats not unreasonable, right?
