@JennJenn81713 My baby is due 2 days before my birthday, too! I was born on the 15th, so not so much Halloweeny stuff. Plus, my parents thought Halloween was kinda evil so while we dressed up a little, we didn't do anything big and mostly went to church Fall Carnival or something. My brother was actually born on November 1 and my mom was really against his coming on Oct 31!
Getting to stay inside all snuggly and not feeling bad that you're too tired to enjoy nice weather. My daughter was born in May and feel like I was a zombie that whole first summer and actually hated seeing all the kids outside enjoying it

Mostly this. DS was a winter baby and it was a good excuse to snuggle in sweat pants for months on end.
When I was in kindergarten, one of my classmates had an October fall carnival theme birthday party. We played bobbing for apples and I thought it was the coolest birthday party ever! I had forgotten about it, but this October birthday party talk brought it back in my mind. Soooo excited to hopefully do a bday like that for this little one!
October is always a beautiful month here, the weather is usually perfect! And there's so many fun fall activities to do with kids that would be great for a birthday party.
Also glad that we won't have to make the decision about when to send our son to kindergarten (here in the midwest, there is no question that an October birthday would be held back).
But getting to spend all of the first holidays as a family is the best part! At my job, I would normally have to work at least one holiday. And even if I wasn't working the holiday, in may be difficult to take time off surrounding the holiday to visit family. I'm so excited to make the most out of all of these holidays!
And I actually like the idea of having a newborn in winter. I think it takes the pressure off of having to go places and do things, lugging around heavy car seats and strollers and trying to figure out when to breastfeed and how not to wake the baby. No thanks! But I'm an introvert, and staying home is pretty much my favorite thing
PSA to those thinking of Halloween themed parties:
As someone whose birthday is the day before Halloween, I used to LOVE it as a kid. My mom would bake a Halloween cake and cookies for class and I always got to have a Halloween/birthday party. But as I got in middle school and other people wanted to do Halloween parties, it was annoying. I don't care as much now because since high school, I've never been a big birthday person but being close to Halloween gets annoying.
It may also have to do with the fact my older brother's birthday is the day before mine and I hated sharing a birthday. I always demanded a separate cake. Rest assured, I'm not that demanding now. Lol.
October is my favorite month! October 3rd is mine and DH's dating anniversary. I love fall. Football season is in full swing. MLB post season. And more!
Our LO is due 10/7 so we're already talking about starting them early or holding them back. I liked being the oldest and honestly, I think it gave me an advantage.
Another good thing is that their birthdays will happen during the school year which makes birthday parties easier to plan.

In my state (OK), you don't have the option of starting early. My daughter is an October baby and will be starting school this August, she's a little older so has a bit of an advantage, plus of course she's just already wonderfully brilliant as it is But in all seriousness, I think starting a little later is a good thing.
Also, Addison LOVES her costume parties. When she decides she wants something else or nothing at all, I'll stop. But for now, our family-favorite Holiday is Halloween, and ALL of us take advantage of every single opportunity we have to extend it! No Halloween themed gifts though, that's just silly.

looks I'm going to get stuck in the quote box, but.... Our dating anniversary is 10/5 and I'm due 10/8. My husband is really pushing for a birthday of 10/5
This thread is awesome! You guys have all mentioned the best things about an October baby and I'm just so glad to read them all. Fall is my favorite season (my DD's middle name is Autumn) and I love October--I feel like it's really the start to the Fall season, though according to the calendar it starts in September. Crisp air, apples, pumpkins, cider...I just can't wait.
Fall is my absolute favorite season, and DH and I's wedding anniversary is in October as well. Another thing I'm looking forward to, getting to dress up a newborn in adorable onesies with my favorite NFL team on them! For our FB announcement we got a Buffalo Bills one and a Chicago Bears one and wrote something to the effect of our tiebreaker for favorite team is due in October.
