Re: TTTC Checkin 04/19/2016

• Hi ladies! I'm in the tww- I triggered on Saturday. At this point there is no reason to prevent me from getting a bfp but it's been so long ttc (3yrs next month) that I'm having trouble even imagining it.

We we go back east every 4th of July since we both grew up there. There is no better place to be than the beach in New England during that week!
TTC since May 2013
Mild PCOS, Compound Heterozygous MTHFR
No Folic acid/pharmaceuticals/supplements (too many to list- private message me if interested), IVIL infusion

• Hello everyone! Right now I'm just waiting AF to begin our 3rd and final IUI cycle. I'm expecting it in about a week. Not a whole lot else to report since my update last week.

QOTW: We usually go to California to visit family every summer. We decided if we're pregnant we won't take our usual trip though. So I'm hoping we won't be going!
***BFP & Child Warning***

Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014
IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs

FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
• Just had my transfer yesterday. We transferred one perfect embryo. Been feeling really hopeless today and I'm sure it's all these hormones but it still sucks.

I travel a lot for work and summers are the busiest. Pregnant or not I will be on planes a lot.
• Hey ladies. I'm triggering Wed & IUI scheduled for Fri! It's our first round of IUI - we've only done medicated + TI in the past so I am anxious/nervous!

QOTW: What are your vacation or stay-cation plans for the summer?
We live in MN so 'up north' is the best place to be on a nice summer weekend. We have a couple cabins, so that's where you'll find us!

• Hi everyone! Well things are looking up - we decided to stay and see one more ultrasound, and surprise, there were more follicles than were thought, andx the bloodwork showed the my progesterone was still good and my estrogen finally was where they wanted it, so we decided to stay! As of this morning, I have 10 on 1 side and 2 on the other, and I am going to trigger tonight. I am excited! It was fun to watch the Dr go from "this really isn't going to work this cycle" to "you are looking just fine, we can keep going"!

@GoldenKeys can we change my stuff to dx: male factor and possible low estrogen (I was having problems getting my estrogen up at the beginning of the cycle, its one of the reasons we almost canceled) and treatment: ivf?

QOTW: What are your vacation or stay-cation plans for the summer? This is my vacation! 2 weeks in DC lol.

TTC since 2011

• I took my last dose of Clomid last night (so glad to be done with that, it made me even more exhausted this time around!), and will be having an u/s tomorrow morning at cd9 (last time at cd10 I had already started my surge so the RE wants to try to get ahead of the game this time).

QOTW: DH & I recently made plans to stay in a cabin in Maine for a few days over Memorial Weekend. I know that's not quite summer, but hoping for nice, warm weather by then! I'm really excited to get away and relax for a while :) We also may plan a short trip late summer to visit Rehoboth Beach, but that's still up in the air.

Not much going on otherwise...

We have plans to go to Virginia Beach so I can attend a conference for work. We usually travel to Michigan to see family a couple times a summer. BIL & SIL are moving to Spain in August, so I'm hoping we can make plans to travel to see them this fall.

• I'm a newcomer. We have been ttc for 19 long months. We had miscarriage in August. Diagnosed with endo in February. Had surgery to clean it up. We are currently ttc naturally for a few months. I have no fertility coverage. Just got AF today and was very disappointed. I had really high hopes. On to month 2.

QOTW: we are planning on going to Vegas the end of June for a work conference.
• Hello girls! I have a diagnostic u/s tomorrow, not looking forward to having to hold a big full bladder for a couple hours. If all looks good I should be starting 50mg of clomid on day 5 of my next cycle.

my best friend who gave birth a few days ago sent me a video of her baby sneezing...I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it yet. I'm just trying to put my energy and positivity into clomid working.

i live in a state that is a popular vacation destination for the summer. We like to do day trips to the ocean, swimming down the street at the local lake, spending time with our nephew, gardening and watching our 3 ducks and 3 chickens.

Welcome @kayla1232! I joined the board last week.
TTC since May 2015 with domestic partner of 13 years. Me 33 OH 33. No ovulation or natural menstruation. Normal SA.

EDD April 3 and praying things work out!
• Hi all!!
Best of luck with the ultrasound this week, @Ducks&Cats
Yay for you, @starlitfae !!! How exciting that things have turned around! Fx for best results going forward!

Im on CD29, and no ovulation yet, which is soooooo dissapointing. It's our first cycle of Clomid, and I have always ovulated at CD20 or before. We started Clomid to maybe get O a little earlier and a longer LP. Well... No O is much worse than late O.
I have no idea why my body is being a total twatwaffle.
DH and the doctor both wanted me to test this week, and I knew better... No temp rise = no ovulation = not KU. So I tested and obviously, bfn. I'll be sticking with science from here on out.
Same dose and additional monitoring next cycle.

We don't have summer plans, besides going to the lake near us, but we are leaving to go on vacation to Ireland on Friday!!!! We said when we first started TTC that we'd plan this trip if not KU by now, and here we are. So excited to go, but always wishing things were different.

QOTW: We live in Northern California so we generally don't venture too far away since our home has alot of things to do already. Short drive to SOCAL to soak up the sun at the beach or head over to Las Vegas for some fun.

• So quite a lot has happened in the past week. DH and I had our first fertility apt. It was horrible.... I felt like the doctor was trying to get rid of us because we were her last apt of the day. Considering how emotionally charged the situation of infertility is, she didn't have one caring, empathetic or positive thing to say. She made my husband feel like it is his fault when we have no idea at this point. And the only treatment method she mentioned was IVF (aside from investigative cycle) and I don't feel like we are close to that point yet and haven't even talked about whether or not that is something we want to do.
We felt so negative after the apt that I cried for an hour. We tried to switch doctors but they don't have another one at this clinic and we already paid for the consultations for the next month. :( I'm also really scared about the testing, it's super invasive and there is a lot of blood work being done and I'm not a fan of needles.
We also decided to tell our parents about ttc and tttc. The plan was today but schedule changes made that impossible. I'll keep you posted.

QOTE: no plans for vacation this summer. I was in Mexico in February. We may do a local weekend away.
• @ACAC25 that appointment sounds awful! I'm so sorry it was so terrible. I can't believe the lack of compassion in so many REs.

@Drove2u keeping my FX for you!

@madasm0530 I'm in MN too (with my SN that's probably obvious)! But we don't have a cabin so we just mooch off of friends and family occasionally :)

We are just waiting until our RE consult in July. Still TTC naturally until then. And I'm following many of the recommendations in the book It Starts with the Egg to try to improve egg quality. And continuing acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Not banking on anything but I feel like I am taking back some control.

GTKY: mini-vaca starting Thursday to go out east to visit my parents. And we'll camp several times I'm sure, but no longer trips planned.

RPL testing results normal. Nurse recommended progesterone suppositories in TWW.

Winter 2016/2017 LFAF awards:

• @starlitfae I'm so happy to hear things are looking up for you! Fx for you!!
@Drove2u I'm sorry to hear your not feeling great! :( keeping my fingers crossed for you.
@Mlight28 I'm sorry Clomid hasn't worked for you this cycle. I understand how frustrated you must be. :( big hugs.

• @ACAC25 Sorry about your doctors visit not going very well. That's so frustrating. You would think their specialty being with a sensitive topic, they would be trained to comfort and encourage patients, not rush them along. Also, jumping straight to IVF talk seems really pushy. There are definitely a lot of steps between now and there. I hope things get better for you! Maybe you just caught the doc on a bad day.
Keep us updated on how telling the parents goes. We are tossing around that idea too but we aren't ready just yet.

• @ACAC25 I'm so sorry your appointment did not go well...perhaps after all this testing you can take your results to another clinic??
@AL_twincities Doing acupuncture, going to Chiropractic and taking my supplements helps me feel a little more in control of my body. Even though i am not expecting anything to "happen" I still feel like I am doing something.

@Worldtraveler0522 Sorry you are feeling down. Everyone on this board has been there many times.

• ** trigger warning** child mentioned (not mine) **

I just found out that my cousin and his gf are expecting another baby. They have a baby girl that is not even 6 months old and his gf is now14 weeks pg.

I'm devastated. I feel so down and negative and wonder what's wrong with me if she can get accidentally (her words not mine) pg twice in less than 18 months! :(

Sorry about all the posts this week ladies. Just been a bad week. Thanks for all your support.
• @acac25 no worries! My best friend gave birth to her first last week. I'm so happy for her but it's been hard for me. my sadness really has nothing to do with her, just like your feelings have nothing to do with your cousin. Other people's successful and easy pregnancies make us feel inadequate. Hang in there! I had a vaginal ultrasound today so I figured I would make myself a couple skinny margaritas as a reward, I guess that's something I can't do if I'm pregnant....

• @ACAC25 ugh that is so frustrating. I will never understand why some people can get pregnant with little to no effort and others have to work so hard. *hugs* I hope tomorrow is better!

@Ducks&Cats thanks! I'm bummed so many of us need to be here but so happy to have the support.

• I need some SA input... My partner had great count (66mil) and great progressive motility (78%). His morphology results just came in today and he has 4% motility using WHO standards. That is the lowest normal number for WHO standards. His GP ordered the test so he really can't interpret results. I'm thinking things look great and because his count and motility are solid. I've read varying things from women that their docs say 8% or 7% is low and other accounts that say docs don't care about morphology if the other numbers are high. We are currently gathering our tests in preparation for a visit to the fertility clinic. I was wondering what your docs had to say about morphology???

• @Ducks&Cats Morphology is one of those things that sometimes seems to matter and sometimes doesn't. My DH has between 4% and 4.5% morphology. His urologist said he doesn't really care about morphology and I've read some studies that say morphology results are inconclusive, but that sometimes men with low morphology seem to have a more difficult time creating a pregnancy. Hopefully your DH's count and motility % will make up for it and you won't have issues!

• Had my surgery today - out of 12 follies we got 9 eggs! That's a better start out number than I expected, even though the Dr said that is just a teaser, the first number that really counts is the number that fertilize, which we will find out tomorrow, but I am super happy. I feel like this is the first part of this entire infertility journey that has gone right! Also, I apparently literally smiled through the whole surgery. I vaguely remember them mentioning it in the OR, and the nurse said it when I woke up :D

ACAC25 that's horrible! Is there a nurse or someone you can complain to? Infertility is so physically and emotionally stressful even without having an unsympathetic Dr. *hugs* And as for the pregnancy announcements, I know the feeling. I felt the same way wen my sister in law announced both of her pregnancies, especially the second one.

Worldtravler0522 Sorry you are feeling down. As someone else has said, I think everyone else here can empathize - its part of the fun (note heavy sarcasm here) we go through. So no need to be sorry, it is what we are all here for!

Off to working for a little bit before I take more meds and lay back down - I work from my computer, so I figure I could get a few things done since I am clear headed at the moment! lol.

• @starlitfae that's awesome news! I'm so happy to hear your progressing well and that you are so happy! Looking forward to hearing how the rest of your Apts go. Fx numbers continue to be high! :)

I did call the clinch the next business day and I spoke to their IVF specialist who said that that's not normal and not what they are like there. She was very apologetic and gave me her email address to contact if I have any other concerns. She hoped we would give them another chance. If I hadn't paid for the next apt tbh I wouldn't go bsck, but here's hoping I just caught the Dr on a bad day.

My DH's SA came back with all good numbers except for 3% morph. They did a sperm penetration assay as the next step, and those were also good results, so they are not overly concerned about his low morph.

• Just went for my second 24 day blood draw on Monday. Hoping this one actually showed that I ovulated and I am now one day late according to my little tracker app. And I'm actually nervous to start my period and I'm nervous to not start. I just got a new job where it's khakis mandatory and if I start or leak it will show :( and now I'm excited but nervous if I do end up pregnant because my new job which will soon be my only job is at a smoke shop so I get paid to vape all day and theres a vape lounge and a cigar lounge and I don't know if being around that would be harmful.

As for summer I'm working
• Well, another factor got thrown in!

A week or so before we started the cycle, DH and i went for genetics testing. The reason was for me - I'm half Jewish on my mom's side, so they wanted to rule out any genetic disorders. We brought DH just in case, no one recommended it, and since he was there they decided to check his chromosomes, even though he has no risk factors or history.

Well, today genetics called back. The good news is I am not a carrier for anything. Yay! The bad news is that DH has balanced chromosomes, which means, as far as I can tell, that parts of two sets of chromosomes switched. He is perfectly healthy and fine, but there is an increased risk of miscarriage and disabilities. I have no idea how this would work for testing, but DH and I agree that we would probably prefer to do the testing beforehand if possible, even if it means freezing embryos and coming back next cycle.

TTC since 2011

• @wifeinraleigh28 and @AL_TwinCities thanks for the input. I'm not that worried anymore since 4% falls in the normal range and his other numbers were great. I also learned there is a large margin for error for the morphology test as it is counted by lab techs.

@starlitfae where did you get genetic testing done?

i got the results of my diagnostic ultra sound back. I have a 2.5cm cyst on my right ovary. My left ovary was not seen because my bowels were blocking it. I'm really nervous clomid is going to be out of the question for me...this would be the second time i had to put off clomid and I will be really devistated....

• @Ducks&Cats - We went to Portsmouth Naval hospital. And I am sorry to hear about the cyst! I know it sucks to be putting it off, Ive been there *hugs* Just remember, quality is better than quantity, especially since I remember hearing you can only take Clomid x number of times (I took Letrozole when I did IUIs), so you want to have the best chance posible

Well it turns out there is a lot more expense in doing the testing, if the lab can even do it. We don't know, hopefully they will call on Monday because we are scheduled for the transfer on Tuesday. Ugh. Why can't this all go smoothly?

• @GoldenKeys - Quick update: Can you please change my stuff from Clomid to Gonal-F injections, and TI to IUI? Thank you! no worries about last week at all! <3

AF came on April 19th with the help of Provera, and on CD3 (Thursday) we started our very first cycle with Gonal-F injections...and I am feeling much more optimistic this time! (Last time the Clomid did not make my follicles grow at all). We are also doing IUI instead of TI this cycle, so I am feeling positive about that too

I've done the injections Thursday night and Friday night so far and was pleasantly surprised to find that they did not hurt..(I was terrified to do them haha). No side effects so far....but I will keep you all posted! I'm also feeling pretty great from cutting sugar and carbs from my diet, and hoping that this has a positive effect on my cycle this round!

QOTW: Plans for the summer: We are going to Manitoulin Island in July to a cottage for a week, and BC in August for a friend's wedding! Also have a week off in June for a nice staycation to just RELAX  I find that keeping myself distracted and giving me things to look forward to really helps!
