Re: First birthday already!!

  • I can't believe it has gone by this fast either. It seems like just yesterday I brought home that little baby from the hospital that didn't know how to do anything but eat, sleep and poop. We both have learned a lot in these past 8 months.

As for her birthday, I have been planning since January. The theme is ladybugs (I was big into ladybugs when I was little). We will be going to my parents' house in Florida. By that time, it will have been almost 4 years since I've been there. Both of my brothers and their families will be there. They will all get to meet their niece/cousin for the first time. I have a nephew I haven't met and he will be 5 next month. His older brother was 8 months old the last time I saw him (he will be almost 7 then).

All in all, it probably won't be too big of an event. Just us and my family (13 people) and maybe a few friends. I plan to have the usual. Food, cake, presents and a special outfit. Nothing too structured. I want to enjoy the fun and not worry if something will go wrong.
  • This past couple weeks I've really been reminiscing on when she was an itty bitty baby who was content to snuggle on my chest all day. Now she's crawling, pulling up, clapping her hands to music, it's crazy!

Her birthday theme is You Are My Sunshine. It'll mostly be family. Our church has a fellowship house on the property where they usually have potlucks and stuff, we're having it there. It'll mainly just be food and family mingling. LO will get her smash cake of course lol.

  • I am realkt  excited for my LO party his bday is July 5 but will be having his party a few days before. July 3rd. His theme is jungle! Got all his decor from party city already will mostly be family with a couple friends. Can't decide what cake I should get, my favorite is red velvet and my husband is just sponge.
  • I can't believe my baby will be 1 on July 25. We are doing his the day before. The theme is mickey mouse which we are finding out is not cheap.
  • I was just working on a blog entry about this! Sometimes I just stare at my daughter in amazement and wonder where my newborn went! She's becoming such a big girl so quickly. She's gained 10lbs since birth, she's learning to stand, she dances to music, and has clearly defined interests. She's even past the purees-only stage and has started eating finger foods like popcorn and cheerios.

We haven't set a date for the party yet, but we're keeping everything low-key. It's going to be at our house, mostly family and a few close friends. LO loves ice cream (she had some for the first time on Easter) and we suspect she'll love cake too, so we'll be having plenty of that. I'm probably going to make a couple of cakes, or possibly just some cupcakes. We don't have much in the way of a theme, but I still have some pink decorations left over from our gender reveal party, so I'll most likely use some of those up.

  • We will be coming back from a week at the beach when I have my boy's party. So I have rented a room at the local "paint your own" pottery shop. The other kids will be painting a small trinket while I get hands and feet prints on something. I'm so excited! I'm just having different colors and not really a theme. im also trying to get him weened off purees by our vacation. That way he can eat whatever we are having. I can't believe how much he has changed in less than a year! Cheers to us for making it!

We are doing Dinosaurs. My husband loved them growing up, so we bought books for your daughter. She has really enjoyed the stories and seems pretty interested. We have absolutely found out that there are no girl dinosaurs items. The few that are out there aren't really want we are looking for. Basically, we'll be making everything. I'm even making a pinata for the older kids to enjoy. MIL will be making cupcakes with stegosaurus spikes.

I really don't want her to get presents. I know it is kind of mean to say, but I'd rather her enjoy the toys she does have instead of playing with them a little and never looking at them again. I can't think of a nice way to say it on invitations. In my head it mostly sounds like, "We do not want your crappy presents." lol.
  • Cold you word it like 'Celebrating 'Baby's' first birthday is all the gift she needs. Thank you!!

@sgb721 Thank you. That is perfect. I am also thinking about saying that if anything is bought, we'll open it after the party or away from other guests.
  • Z's first birthday is the same time at my bf's huge family reunion, we all camp out all weekend and swim and whatnot. So we will probably do something out there but I haven't thought of themes or anything. when it gets closer I probably will. All I know is that I want a smash cake for him.  Oh and I have been warned by other mommas that blue icing is the hardest to get off, it stains skin, hair, everything.
  • We are doing a rainbow theme :) her bday is June 18 and then we are having another one where I'm from. It's kind of funny because we are having the one in hawaii on my due date haha total coincidence :P and then the one in Hawaii is also rainbow. Small one for her actual bday, like 20-25 people and then probably 100-150 for the one in Hawaii. I actually have been planning in since I was pregnant haha
  • I just realized that both of my boys first birthdays I did the same theme I did both of their nurseries !!  Well I guess I made a tradition and didn't even really realize it so I guess my baby girls first birthday party will be all pink and black zebra !!  I wasn't set on a theme until a realized what I did with my boys so I guess I'll keep that going!!!! It was something I considered doing anyways so I guess it really works out great !!!!
