November 2016 Moms

Weekend plans?

Got anything fun going on? I'm counting down the hours until 5pm...

Tomorrow, I'm taking my 3 year-old to a live production of Where the Wild Things Are. One of my BF's also has a 3 year-old son and we are meeting up with them. Should be cute and wild.

  • My mom and I are co-hosting a Mary Kay party tomorrow. Only she and my 2 best friends will be the only ones there who know I'm pregnant. But my morning (I mean, all day) sickness is so bad I have to wear those sea bands, and I don't think I can live without them for a few hours! DH doesn't want to tell anyone else until after my appointment on Tuesday. So I guess I'm wearing long sleeves in 85 degree weather...

  • DH and I are having some friends over for a board game day, which will be fun. He's making me a (boxed mix) cake, too, since my birthday was this past Wednesday. Looking forward to that funfetti!

It's been such a stressful two weeks, between some major new changes at work and waiting for the news from the OB appointment I had earlier today, I'm so glad to have a real weekend where I can just relax a bit.

DS1 best friend's birthday party is tomorrow. The ILs want us out to the farm this weekend and just don't want to. We don't want to tell them yet, plus their place makes me sick even not pregnant. MIL has 30 cats that live in the house and poop and pee everywhere. And my FIL is pretty much blind and has a problem of dropping his medications on the floor and just leaving it (there are pills spilled all over). My kids find them. So far they haven't eaten any but that's not something I want to take chances on.

ETA: What I would prefer is to just meet them somewhere halfway where the kids could play, have a picnic if the weather's nice. Or if they insist because they want to put DH to work, then DH can go on his own.
  • Tonight is date night at the Rangers game! Tomorrow my daughter has a gymnastics competition and then we will go watch the NCAA Gymnastics championship. Sunday it is supposed to storm and rain all day, so I've already said I'm doing nothing! **p.s. My vacuum is at the shop so I obviously can't do any cleaning anyways.
  • @banfrog Holy cow, that sounds like a situation out of a TLC reality show..! I'd stay far away!

We have amazing weather for the first time in months right now, so we're going to go out for ice cream and stroll down the really nice river walk in one of the local suburbs! Also, we sent the package with our pregnancy announcement to my parents at the beginning of the week, and if all goes according to schedule they should get it this afternoon! Assuming they do, the weekend will also be full of phone conversations with parents, siblings, etc. :) So pumped!
  • @muybueno My MIL is a hoarder and the cats are a biggy. She gets emotionally attached to them all, even though most of them are borderline feral, and then they breed and she can't give away the kittens because she believes no one else would take care of them like she does. They have a farm, so I think that's why she gets away with it.
As for the pills, I picked up about 15 pills dropped throughout their place at the last  visit. They don't get the child safe caps since those caps are hard for them to open (DH's parents are as old as my grandparents) and FIL drops them. I don't think he can see when he drops them and I don't think MIL cares enough to pick them up.

We're driving into the city tomorrow for lunch at a couple friends' apartment, which should be fun.  We haven't seen them in probably a year and a half just due to life business, so it will be good to catch up.  I'm hoping this prescription that's supposed to help with the nausea will kick in and I'll be able to eat, and just generally be around food smells without having to throw up and make the pregnancy obvious!

ETA:  I did things both days last weekend and was just exhausted, so I'm really hoping that I can do nothing but couch on Sunday!

  • @muybuenothat sounds awesome!! I wanna come!

We have a long weekend courtesy of the Boston marathon! A bunch of family comes to see it and my dad throws a BBQ every year because you can watch the race my parents' house. Unfortunately DH can't come this year because he's going to use the day to study for his CFA, so it'll just be me, DD & our dog going. Still, should be fun!

Oh man. Props to you for EVER going over there. I couldn't...even with them being family. The cats alone would make it impossible for me to step foot inside. Your poor DH- I'm sure he hates seeing his parents live like that!

  • Heading to the beach with DH's brother and his GF. I'm really nervous because it's a 4 hour car ride and DS HATES being in the car for more than about 15-20 minutes, so that should be interesting. Also, it's only our second time sleeping away from home with him, so we'll see how it all goes ... I definitely don't feel like we've mastered the whole traveling with a toddler thing, so I'm a little worried.

But aside from being nervous about the car ride, I'm super excited to get out of the house and have fun at the beach. We'll also be breaking the pregnancy news to my BIL, so that will be fun.

If anyone has any good toddler travel tips, send 'em my way!
  • Tonight we're taking our dog to the dog park and then just watching some movies at home. I may have to head to the Gap, I figured Gap Canada wouldn't have any sales! Thanks for mentioning it @comealongponds

Poutine week starts tomorrow in our city and DH is participating in the Gravy Bowl contest with some of his buddies. I'm hoping I get to eat some of his creation. Then we have a fundraising gala tomorrow night with friends. I think we will just be packing on Sunday since we move next weekend.
  • Tomorrow we're going to a crawfish boil and for the first time ever it doesn't sound that good to me. My nausea went away for a few days but now it has made a nasty comeback and all I want is cereal and potatoes. Thankfully they put potatoes in the boil so I'm going to just eat all of those!

Sunday I'm going to a baby shower. I'm debating if I should bring my daughter or leave her at home with dad. I kinda hope he just volunteers to keep her. But if I bring her then it's a good excuse to leave early.

Can you get some bangle bracelets and wear them over the sea bands? Attach them with a safety pin or something?

  • Tonight we're going out for dinner and to see The Jungle Book! Then tomorrow we've got a bunch of pre-baby, spring cleaning stuff we want to start chipping away at including cleaning out the nursery-to-be. I'm also going to drive over to the next closest GAP to raid their maternity section since I just got four pairs of jeans and a dress for $46 at my local one. Plus probably some long walks with the dog and some relaxing on the deck with coffee since it's *finally* spring!
Someone else may have posted this, but in case they haven't...

Gap is taking all their maternity clothing out of stores and it will be online only. Everything at the Gap's around here is 60% off +

  • My weekends start on Sunday (hospitality industry FTW). Sunday is all day sleeping and then making beef & barley stew for when hubby finishes work. Monday is the blood work I forgot to do two weeks ago and has to be done on Monday (time sensitive), as well as shopping for work pants at my managers request. Tuesday I have a final exam for my course, oil change for the car, and a new stone chip that we have to get melted.

I'm tired just thinking about that.
  • Going to the circus tomorrow with my 19 month old, my husband, and my MIL. Super excited!  :)

  • Oh, also, tonight I am in bed by 8 and planning to binge watch season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

We stopped at the Gap tonight and this sale is unreal. All of their maternity items were 80% off of the lowest price. I pretty much cleaned them out. I got 4 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs capris, 2 dresses, yoga pants, 2 pairs sweatpants, sweatshirt, 2 tank tops and 4 t-shirts all for $110. I called a few different stores and they said only one store in the city was carrying all of the maternity sale items. It was so worth the trip!
  • @HeyBooHey I also have plans to binge watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt tonight! DS is at his grandparents, hubby is at work, and I'm about to take a bath.

We have to go to a memorial for my great uncle tomorrow. My moms side is seriously cray and I barely know her family because she was a bit unstable growing up. Should be interesting.

Sunday I have to study for my professional engineering license exam that is next Monday. So yeah, not a great weekend.

  • I have to do a major house clean. I'm having a crazy busy weekend next weekend with friends staying but all in alternating time frames. So I want to get everything done.
I also have a pinched nerve in my neck so that's going to make everything awesome.
But its the weekend (almost). So I'm thankful.
Also I'm making crock pot French onion soup. So that makes me really happy.
  • @HeyBooHey @stepamos We are also Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fans but we both fell asleep during the first episode. Ahhh parent life. Guess we will try again tonight!

Morning update: made it through 3/4 of the first episode then slept blissfully through the night (reminder, my DS is having a sleepover).

  • We might go to the zoo (we have a membership) to see the baby pandas again. Hopefully there will be less of a lineup now that they've been on display a month. It's a good way to get out and go for a walk.

How'd those donuts work out for you?  B) let me know if you need any help with 'em.

Also, Zoo is always a good idea. We have a membership as well, it's the best money I've ever spent.

I had two, haha. We froze most of them. We can't go through two dozen doughnuts before they go bad, haha.

  • We had tons of plans this weekend to celebrate my birthday but we had to cancel everything because my son is super sick. Waaaa. I feel so bad for him because he seems so uncomfortable but to be totally honest I'm so dissapointed my birthday weekend is toast!

  • DS2 had a fever this morning/early afternoon. Sucks but he's seems a lot better.
  • Ugh. So the fever was just Saturday. Today has been a rash. Probably hand foot and mouth disease. He cried taking liquid tylenol because his mouth hurt.  :( I'll have to get the kids chewable tablets in the morning. Poor kiddo. :(
