Who here is on or has been on Progesterone suppositories? When in your pregnancy did you stop them? Did you just quit using them or do you have to wean off? I believe my Dr wants me to stop next week (10wks) because at 9 weeks the placenta takes over but was just curious what others experiences were.

I'll be on mine until 12 weeks. No weaning to my knowledge. I'm looking forward to being done with them!

I was on PIO injections and just stopped mine last night at 9 weeks 5 days. I had weaned from 1 ml to .5ml over the last week.

My OB told me to stay on through 12 weeks. No weaning off that I am aware of. I use 200 mg suppositories.

With my first I was weaned off but I don't remember when. This time I'm still
on them (10+6) and I'm waiting for lab results to see how my levels are.

My doc said I could stop yesterday...8w5d. I'm going to go down to 1 a day for a bit because that seems so early!

I will stop at 12 weeks, same with my last pregnancy. No weaning. Cannot wait to be off of them.

I will have a test at 11 weeks and if all looks good I'll come off then.

I know I'm on them at least through 12 weeks. I see the MFM specialist again at 11 weeks, so I'll find out then if I'm supposed to taper or anything. I may have to keep taking them (or go back on them later though) because one of my pregnancies ended at 16w due to pprom, and progesterone is supposed to help with that in the 2nd tri. So they may be a part of my life for a while to come. I'll find out at the appointment.

At the six week ultrasound, they told me to take them for three more weeks and gave me a prescription for exactly that amount. I took them a few days past it because I still had some left, then I stopped.

OB said between week 10 and 12. I'll call around week 10 and see what they want me to do. If you search TB for this Q you'll see tons of posts on it- if you want more answers.

My RE's direction was through tomorrow, when I will be 10w1d. It'll be nice not to remember twice a day!

I was weaned off of estrogen by ten weeks, but progesterone was stopped "cold turkey" at the same time.

My Dr said up to 10 weeks. I was also doing 3 times a day. No weaning either, just that I was done when the box ran out. For me it only took 2 or 3 days before the south territory was back to normal. I was also on estrogen too, and same thing, just done when the bottle is empty. Dr knows best though, just get the details from them.

We conceived through donor egg IVF and protocol can always vary. I will be on PIO injections through my 12th week and no weaning off. Both the reproductive specialist and my OB show ZERO concern when I question it. Both are completely confident and have tons of experience. I was on Estrogen ad Estradiol until about 9 1/2 weeks as well. Stopped that cold turkey with no side effects whatsoever. I'll do whatever it takes....and would do it the entire pregnancy if need be...BUT will NOT miss those nightly injections!!!

Glad to hear that many of you are also stopping around 10 weeks and most of the rest by 12 weeks. I know Drs knows best so I trust him was just curious what others are doing as I wasn't on progesterone in any of my previous pregnancies.

I have been on progesterone since 6 weeks. (History of MC) Had a bleed it 6 weeks 3 days,  didn't last long. Seeing doc on monday at 9 weeks. Really nervous as not seen baby since bleed. Feel very pregnant still worried that progesterone is just keeping symptoms going is that possible if you have lost?  New pregnancy symptoms have appeared since 6 weeks. Positive baby is ok just mind going little crazy.  Told to stay on till 12 weeks.

I'm taking mine till my pill bottle runs out. OB said I didn't have to refill it. He said I could stop now (7w6d) but I could finish it out if it made me feel better. I'll be happy when it is over, my husband assists in the insertion lol...sometimes I wonder if he even knows where the right hole is lol

I've been on 200mg suppositories 2x day and will continue til I'm 12 weeks. Definitely not the most pleasant of experiences, but I'll do whatever it takes to help our bean.

With this pregnancy and my first, I'll do them through 12wks and then stop.

I've been on 200mg suppositories 2x a day my RE said I'd be on them til 10 weeks but when I was switched to my ob she said 14 weeks.

So now I'm a little worried. I was on PIO injections after a FET. While on PIO my levels have ranged from 18-31 but have been steady at around 29. They dropped to 23 when I reduced my dose in half. My RE had me stop them at 10 weeks. I asked to have blood done to make sure my levels were ok.  The first time was on Friday and they said they were excellent but didn't tell me the number. Then I had blood done again yesterday. When the nurse called she said they were normal so I asked for the number and she said 12 but she didn't want me to worry because they were in the normal range. I immediately was worried and emailed my doctor who said he had a feeling he'd be hearing from me. He said he promises that it's fine and that he's not worried at all. He said I can come back on Friday for a final check and if they stay steady it's okay eo I have the option of going back on the shots for the next 1-2 weeks. The only bad thing about that is that I donated my extra PIO and needles thinking I wouldn't need them. I'm trying not to be worried, he's a great doctor in the NYC metro area and they're very reputable. He hasn't steered me wrong yet but I'm anxious in general.  I've looked up several places online - a couple said 1st trimester levels range from 9-47 putting me in the range but one website said that progesterone lower than 15 resulted in MC 91% of the time which obviously scared me. Any thoughts or advice?

I'm on 200 mg twice a day. It's not unusual to be told to stop after 9 or 12 weeks but I believe mine will go to 12 weeks. I don't think weaning is really necessary but I have missed a few morning doses so will probably kind of use those to wean down. My sister swears that if she didn't take hers through 14 weeks her two youngest wouldn't be here, and while I don't think that's true, it makes me paranoid since she did have a couple late losses. 

@whitneyf1 I had CD21 levels drawn and while they were in range, some sources said the numbers meant I didn't even ovulate, which I knew wasn't the case through temping and, well, I got pregnant that cycle so obviously I did O. I asked to have my levels drawn again and my CNM told me they don't really like to give supplements based on levels because it's different for everyone. What looks low might be fine for one person while a higher level might not actually be enough for another. So they didn't even bother and pretty much just put me on the suppositories just in case.

I will be on crinone 8% once a day until 10 weeks. It has caused  a lot of lower cervical irritation that causes me to spot and even bleed enough to drip and soak a pad! (Sorry TMI) when it happened the first time I freaked out and went in for a scan. Everything was good and bleeding stopped about 4 hours later. My RE said that this is a common side effect of Crinone and may continue to happen until I stop. I am 8w1d today so only two more weeks then I can pee with out worrying

@fiancB yea he gave me the option of continuing for the next 1-2 weeks. I'll be 11 weeks Friday (actually I think tomorrow according to my OB) but I want to hold off and see what my level is Friday without going back on. I've been off for a week today. I'm nervous but if he isn't nervous and he's said it in writing in an email then I guess I shouldn't be either.
