Randoms 4/11-4/17

DH wanted to touch my belly so I walked over to him before putting on my comfy shirt.

A fruitfly randomly landed on my belly and before DH put his hands on it, I slapped the fruitfly without even thinking that I'd be slapping my belly. WTF moment was that it...got stuck.

DH just stared at this whole thing go down and there was a moment of pause before we burst into laughter because our peanut kicked back to my slap.

I thought this could belong in a TMI Tuesday thread but the whole thing really was so fking random and maybe slight, "EW GARY" moment (for all you Jimmy Fallon fans).

  • I really want a Cherry Lime-aide from Sonic. I have never had one before or been to Sonic but they look so refreshing!

  • @AliKay20 I was in the waiting room for my 2nd anatomy scan this morning when I read that and I had to hold in my laughter, which was quite the feat. Thanks for sharing!
  • I'm starting to struggle with clothing, and super annoyed about it.

This little guy is apparently bumping his way straight out. I haven't really gained any size wise any where other than my stomach. In fact today I am wearing a non-maternity skirt in a size SMALL which sits below my belly - but my maternity clothes in a size large are starting to not fit up and over the belly the way they should. Maternity shirts are starting to strain over my belly too!  And then both pants and shirts are still baggy every where else.

I honestly gave up on my maternity jeans last weekend and reverted to a (slightly stretchy) pair of low rise pre-pregnancy jeans.

Apparently I hit the awkward clothing phase late. ugh.

C'mon summer, I am ready for maxi dresses.

  • I'm struggling with finding decent maternity clothes. I'm gonna order a few old navy maternity tee shirts but other places I've looked the clothes are trying to be too "fashion forward" and they aren't reasonable for comfort. Plus I'm trying to not spend an arm and a leg on it so I've bought a few non maternity dresses that should be good the entire pregnancy.

That being said im a SAHM so my motivation for going anywhere is extremely low because I don't have the energy to put together a decent outfit.
  • @Katienu I had one yesterday and it was delicious. Plus sonic ice is the best!

  • They closed gap and baby gap in our mall. I didn't realize the company was not doing well. I don't usually shop there, but I was so excited to check out the baby stuff now that we know it's a girl. Boo.

I have been craving cinnamon rolls! Yesterday I bought one of those containers that you pop open and make in the oven. I'm saving them for Saturday breakfast and really debating buying multiple containers...

  • @alikay20 When the baby first started moved it felt like something crawling on my skin so I kept smacking it. DH was amused / concerned when he finally pointed out I was bopping the baby too... not just myself, and could I restrain it please?

You guys... I am SOOO uncomfortable in my bra!!! I'm still in my pre-pregnancy bra (the only one that fits) with an extender but my ribs feel bruised from the underwire. I went to the mall today to try to find something with no luck. I ended up at Victoria's Secret to at least get measured, they had me at a 34DDD, but even a 36 feels so tight to me these days. I found one there that was fairly comfortable but looked kinda funny with a shirt on and it's definitely not good for nursing post-baby. Any suggestions on where to get a comfy bra that still supports a larger chest and doesn't cost a ton??!
  • @court5608 I got a few maternity and nursing bras from Target and I love them!

@court5608 I was having the same issue. I bought a couple of wireless bras in a 36D (34D in VS before pregnancy)
Warners tends to run large, so I found these fit perfect even thought I am measuring a DD to a DDD at VS now, and the wireless is a lifesaver because I am carrying super high. Which means my lungs are squished (already!), so I don't want to squash them any more. It also means when I sit (which I do all day at work) my bump presses right on my bra, which makes an under wire super uncomfortable.
This is the style I bought, and I used a $20 / 50 or more coupon (pennys always has coupons going)

I've always hated wireless bras, but this one actually gives enough support because of the wide band under the bust.

I also bought some bras at Target. I can only find up to DD, though (wearing 38DD right now; usually 34D). I'm not investing in nice nursing bras yet, because I expect my boobs will get even bigger before baby arrives.

I know I am weeks away still but I'm trying to make a to do list with timeline for the rest of the pregnancy since my pregnancy brain is only getting worse! I was wondering when do you start washing baby's clothes, blankets and such to be ready for them? I have had family give us some clothes and blankets recently and then the shower is a little less than 2 months away, which we'll get more then. I am also at risk for preterm labor so I just want to make sure everything is ready a little ahead of time than normal. I won't start until after the shower or sure because I don't have hangers or the dresser yet.
I washed all the clothes and blankets after my baby shower but to be honest after that I never washed clothes before DD wore them unless they were used. I may get flamed for that lol

This really made me laugh. I could see me doing this. They look all brand new and clean...meh good enough.

I started by washing everything but after a year of it, it got too annoying. I would have stopped much, much, much sooner but DS had very sensitive skin; I had to wash things so he wouldn't get a rash.
  • @lgem4 I would start washing after your shower, but only the basics and outfits you know you will use early on. We made the mistake of washing almost everything and DS didn't end up wearing a bunch of it.

@Lynnlove28I wish I could skip washing new clothes! I still have to wash everything for DS  because he has super sensitive skin. My SIL has never washed my nephews new clothes and he's totally fine. I'm jealous!

I only made it through the newborn size washing first... Then I stopped caring. DD didn't have sensitive skin so it's all good.
  • After I started washing everything for DS I actually started washing certain things for myself before wearing, like underwear
  • @court5608 I switched to sports bras during my first pregnancy and (embarrassingly) never looked back. My new bigger boobs scare me so I prefer being strapped in. It also helps with the breast pain I've been feeling all pregnancy. I love the C9 sports bras from Target.

@AliKay20 I gave in and got a hot dog last week. I'm usually a stickler for all my doctors dietary rules but I didn't care. I've been craving them like crazy and was sick of depriving myself of its deliciousness... and everything is fine.

  • We got the baby's crib a few weeks ago and put it up, but now I'm having a heck of a time finding furniture (like a dresser or changing table) to match it. The color of the crib is "vintage gray" and I'm seriously considering just doing a white dresser or something because I don't want to pick a different shade/stain of gray and have it clash. Dang it!

  • @1faceinacrowd I have a grey crib and didn't want to deal with somehow trying to find something that would exact match. We ended up going with a nice stained wood dresser. It looks great with the crib because of the silver details. White would have looked nice too but DD's room has a bunch of white and I wanted something different.

  • My power bill is gonna be sky high next month. During the day it's getting up to almost 80 degrees but it's getting down to right at 40 at night so I leave the air on all day and turn the heat on at night or we wake up to an igloo. It's been like this for the past week or so and it gonna be this way next week as well. Damn you NC in the spring.
  • @Allisun85 that one looks pretty comfy, they only have them up to a C right now, but I'll have to keep my eye out for them. I've been having terrible pain in the rib/lung area. I know part of it was the underwire but now I'm wondering if part of it is baby/my insides! It's one spot right at the edge of my ribs/under my chest that pratically brings me to tears, especially when I laugh.. how annoying!

I ended up with a nursing bra without underwire from target. The fit isn't perfect but it beats the underwire digging in so I'll live with it for now!
