Wondering about endometriosis and what early symptoms are..I go to the doctor next Tuesday I've been having some mild issue and googled and of course there's minor stuff then big bad stuff and I'm worried
I have endometriosis, mine mostly affects my bladder so it causes pain in my bladder and urinary tract. I started experiencing painful symptoms about 4 years ago always coming and going with my period. I thought it was endo at the time, but my doctor ran a few tests and then basically told me to suck it up. When I got pregnant I switched doctors, during my 20 wk ultrasound they found a mass on my bladder, did a biopsy and diagnosed me with endo.
After recovering from that surgery, my painful symptoms went away, and I'm still breastfeeding with no period so no symptoms have returned. It's nice, but I'm still concerned about what happens when my period starts up again. My gyno explained that the best treatment is to suppress mensuration, so I guess I'll just be on birth control forever.
To answer your questions about early symptoms, I think it mostly depends on where in your body the endometrial cells have decided to call home, but common themes from everyone I know with endo is intense pain that comes and goes with your period.
I wish you the best of luck! Words of advice I wish I'd had is to trust your gut. I knew there was something wrong with me and i should've pushed that first doctor more, or just got a second opinion, but I trusted her medical knowledge and lived with excruciating pain for several years before finally being diagnosed.
I was diagnosed at age 14 as my periods were putting me in a fatal position for the first 2 days.my other symptoms were extremely heavy bleeding , upset bowels, nausea and pain after bowel movements. I had a procedure done at 16 to see how bad it was , they scraped some of it off . Mine did get better after my children but I still have horrible preperiod cramps and the first day I have to lay in bed and take tylenol 3s.
