Honest Co. products

I was lucky enough to score a $25 off $50 Honest Co. purchase in my Target gift registry welcome bag.  I have heard great things about their products but haven't tried any.  I'd like to get some things to try out on my twins when they are born.  For anyone that uses Honest products, which ones would you recommend me purchasing to try?

Re: Honest Co. products

  • I second the belly balm. It has a very strong herbal smell to it, but it's the only balm/lotion I have used that keeps my stomach moisturized. I use it when I get out of the shower and put a belly band from target on after applying to lock it in for the day. It's made a world of difference. No more itchies!

  • I love the belly balm for me, and we use the body wash/shampoo for DS. Their wipes are also great, but a little on the pricier side so we just buy Huggies wipes in bulk from Costco. Their diapers are adorable, but also on the pricier side so we don't buy those regularly.

  • I use their diapers and wipes for DS and love them!  Add in the convenience of it arriving at your doorstep and cute prints and it's the best option I found.  We cloth diapered for about 8 months with DS and still used Honest diapers at night.  The wipes are so soft but really strong and do a great job on clean up now that he is older and solids entered the picture.  I also really like the lavender chest rub (like Mentholatum, but better smelling!), it was great this winter when DS or myself had a cough.  We just started using the bubble bath and I like it, but go through it pretty quickly.  So may switch to something else.  Price wise, I found the diapers/wipes bundle to be comparable to Pampers or Huggies cost.

  • Thanks ladies!  I have been on the hunt for the belly balm because I've heard others rave about it, but I can't find it at my Target and it's not sold online at Target.  I'll keep my eye open though!  Anyone know if it is in the baby section or in the lotion section or somewhere else?
  • The healing balm is all we use!!

In our Target it's by the tampons and pregnancy tests, lol.

  • We use the bubble bath, diaper cream, and healing balm for DS, as well as some cleaning products, fruit wash, and belly balm. I've also used the sunscreen for DS - I've heard mixed reviews on it, but we never had any issues with its effectiveness. I've liked everything except their dish detergent and laundry detergent, I just didn't think they did a very good job.

  • Also, I was just at Costco this weekend and they had Honest sunscreen and bug spray. I haven't used them yet but I snatched some up. They were like $13 for a two pack.

That's where I found ours as well. The last place anyone would think to look! They also sell it at motherhood maternity clothing store.

  • I like the sunscreen and the majority of the baby stuff. I wasn't thrilled with the diapers- I found that they gave off a very distinct smell when the baby  was even the tiniest bit wet. I was changing him so much more frequently which didn't help when they're so pricey!

  • If you use th Target Cartwheel App just recently they had a lot of the Honest products 10% off. Just a heads up to save a couple bucks. :)

  •  @blond1230 did honest change their sunscreen formula? I know in August there was a lawsuit with children getting 3rd degree burns. Have you ever had this issue?

I really would love to also try many of the Honest products. Do you order the diapers through the honest website or like amazon? Thanks!

  • My daughter got burned wearing the sunscreen-- as did many other kids (check out the Amazon reviews). I'm not sure if they've changed their formulation but it made me really angry at the company and I'm hesitant to buy any other products.

  • I ordered a ton of their diapers for my last baby and although they were super cute, they caused the worst diaper rash.  I think their diapers do not pull the pee away from them as easily.  As soon as I turned to regular diapers it all went away.  Just my two cents!
  • Thanks for the heads up on the sunscreen ladies!

  • We have loved their healing balm for diaper rash and drool rash.  Also use the liquid dish soap, hand soap, bug repellent.  I have the sunscreen stick and spray but haven't used them yet.  I did not care for the dishwasher tabs (didn't work well to clean the dishes) and the body lotion (nothing to write home about).

  • I have tried almost all of their products and use a lot of them regularly.  I have been receiving their bundles for a couple years.  They did just come out with a new sunscreen and they have also, in the last few months, come out with different shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.  I loved their diapers and wipes and they definitely worked just as well as any other disposable diaper we tried.  My dd is daytime potty trained and we just started using their nighttime diapers, which are great.  I loved the soothing bottom wash for the meconium stage.  I also am a big fan of their detergent and oxi.  After using honest detergent for the last couple years I bought a bottle of tide (thinking it would work better for all my dd's fruit and veggie stains) but I was sadly mistaken.  The tide didn't work any better.  The products I haven't been a fan of are: toilet cleaner, glass cleaner, shave oil, dishwasher packs, and wet mop pads. The diaper rash cream was okay so we switched to using the healing balm which is great.  Most other products I love and use regularly.

@ladybear10 yes all the information about the lawsuits for the sunscreen came out right when we were using it for a couple months! Needless to say I was nervous but we continued using it since we didn't have an issue before the news and I never had a problem. My son has really sensitive skin and it was one of a couple that didn't bother him. We also liked the babyganics one but never had a burn from either one.

We first tried the diapers by ordering a special first time subscriber package on the website. If you signed up for emails they sent a special offer. I initially liked them because other than pampers swaddlers there're the only once my son didn't get a rash from. But then we'd be out and about and I'd be grossed out bc they started to stink as soon as they were wet so I switched back to swaddlers.

  • Might be a little biased because that's where the hubs works, but I too love the belly balm, and pretty much everything else we've tried. My kids dig the non-alcohol hand sanitizer spray compared to the pump style kind. They just came out with a new sun screen, but we had used the old one with no problems. The problem with any more natural type sunscreen is you have to reapply it way more often than others.

The household things work well for us, but do agree about the bubble bath being used fast- however we go through any fast it seems. I have yet to try the makeup but I myself am not a huge makeup wearer.
